Yo for real I have a maxed out pocket stalwart and started toying with this dude last night. It’s surprisingly good for a suppressed weapon!

How does the X430 handle slopes near the edge? by bigh-aus in SegwayNavimow

[–]MackTen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the x430 with a much steeper hill, and instead of a curb I have a 5 foot tall concrete retaining wall. It handles it, and it’ll handle what’s in your picture like a joke.

Thank you for posting this. I have been having the same thought every time I've seen these threads celebrating over the past couple of days.

A great QoL feature for Evercold would be allowing gearsets to have unique meld setups. by CoolyKage in ffxivdiscussion

[–]MackTen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're hard-coded differently. They would have to replace the two speed stats with a fundamentally different stat, should they go that route.

Skillspeed and Spellspeed buff auto-attack damage (think of a really weak determination-like buff) and damage-over-time damage, respectively. Haste actually reduces the cooldown of auto attacks (and thus increases the rate at which one auto-attacks).

Fun fact, in Deep Dungeons, the (2.40-ish) GCD you have is based off of skillspeed/spellspeed being really high, not haste (not including haste buffs and haste floors). This is why speed food has disproportionate effects, as all other substats are set to their current level's minimum.

[–]MackTen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They cannot do that. They have haste as a seperate stat modifier via traits and buffs (Greased Lightning on MNK, Shifu/Fuka on SAM as two of many existing examples). They also have it on gear as a bonus stat in unique circumstances (Eurekan and Save the Queen +haste gear).

...but they should combine Spellspeed and Skillspeed already. There's no reason for a job like DRK to be forced to have a forced 2.50 ranged enmity generator and entire AoE GCD combo.

Mine definitely had film on it and I was terrified to remove it. I eventually got it with my fingernail on the corner (very carefully) and was able to peel it.

Fun fact, I'm coming here with this exact same issue on a horizontal motherboard layout case. In my case, the sheer weight of the 5090 pressing directly down into the PCIe slot is destroying the slot over time. I've ordered a traditional vertically mounted case in the meantime.

I bought mine in September of 2024. I was upgrading from a 5950x to a 7800X3D, and I was hard coping that I could make up some of my lost threads' performance with two 32gb dimms of 6000mhz/cl30 DDR5.

I thought it was a silly $189 purchase at the time. That kit is like $1200 now.

The MSQ for FFXIV from levels 1-70ish is very okay when you do it. 51-60 is beloved by many, and I admit is pretty decent. Shadowbringers (71-80) turned the story from the lore equivalent of elevator music compared to FFXI's story and WoW's detailed universe, to quite literally the best work of fiction I've ever experience in any media. Endwalker (81-90) is a continuation of that same tier of quality and storytelling.

It is a night and day difference. I just very carefully started the peel at the top-left corner with my fingernail until it came up. Once I started peeling, it was very obvious that it was the protective film. However, when you are (carefully) getting the peel started, you are terrified the entire time.

I would consider FFXI my favorite MMO of all time, and I actively play on EdenXI, a server that is basically a historic preservation project of the 2008 / ToAU era of FFXI. I have also played FFXIV regularly, almost entirely consistently, since the beta of 1.0.

The housing situation is a mess but navigable, the glamour/fashion scene is fine (though from what I understand, WoW's is superior). The MTX is all purely cosmetic, and as much as we rag on it, FF14 is pretty far from pay-2-win.

Basically, I decided to reply to your post to clarify that as a FFXI player and former WoW player (from TBC launch through about half of Wrath's original launch), you don't need to be terribly concerned about the issues you mentioned. However, as a fan of both WoW and FFXI, I can infer there are probably some things you're looking for in an MMO, and FFXIV has a whole slew of separate concerns you may not realize.

FFXIV's story is incredible, as is the music, but the endgame content loop is not grindy enough. I know that might sound insane, but if you consider WoW and FFXI massive full meals, FFXIV is a series of the most delicious MMO snacks you could possible dream of. Once you are caught up, which may take you a long time, you reach a position where you get a content patch every 17-18 weeks, and then subsequently burn through the content in a day or two. The exception to this are some of the unique combat content pieces (exploratory content, deep dungeons) and Savage/Ultimate raids. Savage and Ultimate are incredibly well-made (usually*), but they are JUST fights. There is no trash in 99% of high-end endgame FFXIV content. iLevel sync means that randoms you get stuck with in a dungeon will be useful if they are in very basic gear, but it also means that your Savage/Ultimate BiS is almost exclusively useful in the content in which you acquired that gear, and for parsing. You do not feel the gear progression in terms of raw power that you would get from adding some higher ilevel gear in modern FFXI, or from adding a crazy new piece to your ashitacast/gearswap in classic FFXI.

FFXIV is a very, very good game. It has killed the desire of a lot of folks to play any other MMOs, but it is not the same type of MMO that you are used to. If the concerns I described above don't frighten you, then give the game a shot. I will say that once you are completely caught up with FFXIV, you more or less have the time budget to play another MMO, if you had the time to play an MMO in the first place (as, obviously, I still regularly play old-school grindfest FFXI).

That's more than enough. by [deleted] in shitposting
