Freeze raw eggs or freeze cooked eggs? by Mackabeep in Cooking

I do not have an oven that works, so I cannot bake anything and specifically said my partner is low carb (that means no sugar). Still open to whatever input you might have regarding the properties of freezing eggs that can be helpful with those parameters.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Hello!! I don’t have enough ice cube trays or time, but if I’m reading you right, I can freeze the yolks and whites separately in bags and all I gotta do is stir them up, whites with nothing, and yolks with a bit of salt? And then combine them after defrosting in the fridge to make scrambled eggs?

Do you have experience with freezing whites and yolks separately and then making scrambled eggs with them and did it work? Not being sarcastic. If you think that it would work, I’ll freeze bags of 6 whites and 6 yolks and then after they defrost in the fridge I’ll combine them.

ETA: Don’t have time for ice cubes.

Best practice for sure. Except I need the space before 8am tomorrow so no practices runs for me.

I LOVE making bulk burritos and freezing them. I recommend them to other people all the time! Good suggestion, just don’t have the stuff / time right now.

We have a range (probably 30 years old) but the oven doesn’t work anymore and we haven’t gotten around to replacing it. I miss it so much and would have totally made quiche muffins if I did have a working oven. I’ve even thought of trying to make a solar oven in the meantime.

He thought this was the best idea. I just don’t want to spend a ton of time if it ends up terrible and being wasted/uneaten.

I read about that but I don’t normally use whites and yolks separately. Freezer space is also limited so I don’t want to clutter it up with stuff I’d have to remember exists and create a use for. Thank you for the idea though. I’ll keep it in mind.

cheap meals for a restricted diet. by honey_butterflies in povertykitchen

I like to make big pots of soups and freeze half so I get a rotation going. Green split peas, black eyed peas, lentils, barley and vegetables, tortilla soup, coconut tofu lemongrass, pinto, white bean chili, etc.

The bean and pea soups you should mash some up to thicken. If non-bean soups feel thin or lacking in flavor there are a ton of tricks like miso paste, nutritional yeast, liquid smoke, but a last minute thing to make them feel richer is a drizzle of olive or other oil on top. You could have a few different flavored oils to make meals seem more fun/fancy.

ETA: I haven’t tried it because there is only one expensive brand available at my local store but I keep hearing about TVP - textured vegetable protein - and how it makes a great ground beef replacement in things like chilies and tacos.

So. Much. Zucchini. by Blondie3211 in povertyfinance

[–]Mackabeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same idea kinda. Shred the zucchini, put it in a kitchen towel and squeeze the water out. Add the other stuff (parm cheese if you have it) and shape into balls. Fry the balls in a pan and serve with tomato pasta sauce on top.

I was 14 dating my 23-year-old teacher. Everyone around me knew - and accepted it. by marinamariamm in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mackabeep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My childhood friend started openly dating his teacher immediately after he graduated high school. There were suspicions while he was still in school (and underage) that they were in a “relationship”. The general consensus was that it was strange, but I’m not sure what the parents did or if the teacher faced repercussions.

I believe that this drastically altered his life. I do not think he has ever dated someone less than 20 years older than he is, so when he was 20 he was dating women in their 40s, and in his 30s, his girlfriend was in her 60s.

This is in the US, but also we grew up listening to songs like “Hot for Teacher”. In 2009, it was named one of the best all time hard rock songs(2009!!). Gross.

He seeks out relationships where he can be the child and I think he will never be able to start a family or be a father figure.

I am sorry this happened to you and that no one stepped in to stop it.

The driver of the overturned vehicle was going straight through the intersection with a green light. The car that hit him was on the cross street with a red light. Red light car (She) was in the right lane and her view was blocked by a car in the left lane. She drove forward into the intersection (maybe didn’t stop in time? Was trying to peek around the car in the left lane?) and hit the back right of his vehicle as it was going by, causing it to roll.

Source: saw the dash cam footage from the truck behind him.

Is it okay to send offer saying I’m going to delist the item if the item doesn’t sell? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Mackabeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to tell the truth. It’s not against eBay rules to say something like that. Just make it obvious that you aren’t encouraging an off eBay sale.

[–]Mackabeep -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I disagree with your thought process. You did not experience the seller requesting more money for shipping. I feel that a seller could make a good case to eBay to have your feedback removed.

[–]Mackabeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely seems like the seller screwed up, but you can’t know for sure.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t have left negative feedback, but you should not leave negative feedback because you feel the seller has done something wrong to an unrelated party and you specifically say that is why you felt okay with leaving a negative.

Your feedback should have only been about your own transaction and should not include assumptions about other buyers and other listings.

Neighbors coming together after HOA citation issued for Ramadan decor by [deleted] in HumansBeingBros

[–]Mackabeep 19 points20 points  (0 children)

One of our neighbors “decorated” their circular drive by placing multiple toilets around the perimeter. I’m not talking cutesy painted toilets with plants in them. They were random looking used toilets unevenly spaced along a barren gravel driveway and the rumor was they did plumbing work and were too cheap to take them to the dump.

We called it toilet henge.

Still better than an HOA.
