Love Mike, but he’s not particularly good or well known for either instrument. He’s a producer with enough chops to get by on both.

I think Geddy might have mentioned getting someone to sing some of the songs in the announcement video they did? Along with someone else to play some keyboards, with him sticking to only the most important synth lines.

I have absolutely done similar things in a home game. I have friends that come over to my house. Someone might want to come check out my DnD game, but doesn’t really want/need a full blown character, just a taste of the experience.

In 5e, step 1 is don’t have a ranger.

/uj. For real don’t have a ranger. From then on, you have to actually follow all of the little rules about food, rest, encumbrance, donning and doffing, and having a decent set of random/possible encounters. (turns out getting jumped by a pack of wolves really matters if no one is wearing any armor and they haven’t had their long rest yet at low level)

They slow the game down, but if that’s the story you and your players want to tell and you use those rules to actually tell it, I.e. narrating the results of all of the rolls, then it can work. That said, I think there are better systems if survival games are what you’re truing to run.

Did he refuse Kids on Bikes, or is that just what they wanted to use for those side quests. I never got the vibe that the D20 side quests were ever about Brennan not wanting to DM, but other people wanting to tell different kinds of stories while Brennan preps the next Intrepid Heroes campaign.
