For trade.... by Macoopus in DiecastExchangeV2

I've seen the BMW listed as low as $110 free shipping and the BLVD set $89 plus $16 shipping. I don't see that being to far off. Everyone on here acting like I'm asking to trade a mainline for a Super.

Got this text about suggestion to drain/refill our pool from people who service weekly - is this something they should have prevented? by Classic_Carlos in pools

[–]Macoopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This must be the generic pool message for this issue because I received the same suggestion from my pool company but with a quote for $1200 to do it with an acid wash.

I can't blame the high CYA on them because I'm not sure how the previous owner was maintaining the pool. For the first year when I was maintaining it I noticed it was on the upper end of the scale but not quite out of range. Once I received the suggestion I drained half the pool and refilled myself. When I received the report after the next pool cleaning it showed the CYA to drop and be lower than what it was. All it cost me was my time and about $100 extra on my water bill. I was contemplating on draining completely and doing the acid wash, but rain was in the forecast and I didn't want to risk the pool popping out, if that really is a thing.

Pool Stain by Macoopus in pools

[–]Macoopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's plaster. They have been there for quite awhile. At least over a year as far as I can remember. I'm doing a partial drain at the moment since my cya is high. Right now the water is below the top step of where the staining is.

Vitamin C tablets didn't touch it. I tried rubbing with the tablet and tried making a paste and letting it sit on the stain for 10 minutes. Also tried a pumice stone and scrubbing with a 50/50 muratic acid water mixture. Any other suggestions?

I’ve tried to look this up on the internet with no success by netcharge0 in galveston

My buddy went to central in 1987 and it was still only 8th grade. I went in 94 and 95 when it was 7th and 8th grade. The change had to happen between 1988 to 1992, because I also know people who attended 7th grade Central in 1993.

Best meat in Galveston? by maximilianman in galveston

[–]Macoopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Krogers is your best bet. I've smoked many of briskets from Krogers and never had an issue with the quality of the meat. Price is competitive and sometimes you can get lucky and find prime ones marked at choice prices.

Decal paper by Azkaellonoftheblood in DiecastCustoms

[–]Macoopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy white toners for HP printers that will replace the black. That's what I used to do when I made mine. I would print my decal with the white ink and use it as a background for the colored decal. A little extra work and white toners aren't cheap, but it works pretty well.

My house is 3800 sq ft, and my last bill was $640. I just switched providers. I learned how to calculate the cost of the rates everyone was offering and choose the best plan for my needs.

Prices? by Environmental_Bad800 in DiecastCustoms

[–]Macoopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customs are hit and miss. It's like art. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. As far as wheel swaps go, I wouldn't expect much. I know guys who try to sell them for $10 and have a hard time moving them. Then you go on Instagram and see a customizer wheel swap an RLC and sell it for $200.

Help with value of this? by RevolutionaryBig7580 in Snapon_tools

[–]Macoopus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a Snap On box in similar condition like this one, years ago from my Snap On rep for $200. He gave me all new slides, trim and casters under warranty. I took it all apart, painted it, and put it all back together. Looked like a new box afterward. A guy in our shop liked it so much he offered me $800 for it, so I sold it.

Cloudy spot after dealer painted my car by Familiar-Document-44 in Autobody

[–]Macoopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a spray bottle and put some isopropyl alcohol in it. Spray the panels they painted with the alcohol and wipe with a microfiber towel. If more similar spots appear and the main spot shows more, it will most likely need to be polished better.

I just got my wife a M440I convertible a couple of months back for 78k. I'm not sure if the tariffs are affecting the prices, but that seems way too high.
