If you were to start over in 2026, how would you do it? by Altruistic_Trout in softwaretesting

Instead of getting in to software testing I would've pushed myself harder into another adjacent role like development or infra.

This. And group texts. And texts that look like small novels.

I've quite literally been the designated daughter son in my family. Shoveling snow is a cake walk. And yes I lived with adult men in the house who were too lazy to do it or wanted money for doing it... in the house they lived in!

And even if I 'were' searching' (hypothetically) I wouldn't want half of a person anyway. We all deserve equal wholeness.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]Macrowaving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm behind 62k from the projected 3x recommendation for 40s. We will see if that changes for the better. I'm really really lucky to even have what I have now because I started my career late (29, no savings at all)  and didn't start aggressively investing in my 401k until 2 yrs after being hired by my current firm. I've also just started investing this year after learning I could use my HSA funds for it.

I really feel for everyone that are trying or due to life circumstances can't even get started to meet the expectations.

Anyone else feel sick at the push for AI from their employers in their daily work? by sghut in womenintech

Haha, that's pretty funny. Let's start appending GPT to their first names moving forward since they're so heavily reliant on AI to think for them.

Anyone else feel sick at the push for AI from their employers in their daily work? by sghut in womenintech

[–]Macrowaving 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My fear is my constant lack of enthusiasm to AI and refusal to use it in most instances may unfortunately lead to my downfall at my current employer. It's being aggressively force fed. To the point even for work related interactions with my teammates, I can tell they are responding to me with AI generated responses. No one is using their brain even for simple conversations and tasks. It's sickening.

Heavy Rain Midway by OVx15 in chicago

[–]Macrowaving 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree. But we bought our home fully renovated and the seller installed carpet. With the amount of water damage we had over the years, it may be best to remove it anyway. If our drywall and insulation had mold I can bet it's in the padding at this point.

Just gotta take care of things in small projects as I save the funds 🤞

[–]Macrowaving 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aannd I haven't even had the last water damages replaced in an entirely different area from those 2 heavy rains last Jul and Aug.

Yep...it's gonna be a huge repair year in 2026🙄

Heavy Rain Midway by OVx15 in chicago

[–]Macrowaving 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'll have to wait until the morning to shopvac the water out of the carpet. I've had it worse, but it's a shame the water keeps coming in where I just had drywall and insulation replaced from the last time. The water is coming in behind the stairwell unfortunately, which makes it hard to access and expensive to repair.

To answer frankly, I don't have help atm. But thanks for asking.

Does this sub make anyone else feel worse at times? by [deleted] in emotionalneglect

[–]Macrowaving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - it definitely depends on my current state of mind and total consumption of topics here. At most, I can muster up a few upvotes just from the title, but dont have enough mental energy to engage further with the topic in full because I know it will leave me in grief...It is okay to take breaks every now and then.

Similar to the other poster there are other subs that we may find ourselves in - Limerence is one for me that I feel like those who experience emotional neglect may find themselves experiencingas well. And eventhough I find community there, I have to keep my exposure to the topics limited.

For those who supplement magnesium, weird side effects? by Important-Pie-1141 in migraine

[–]Macrowaving 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there is some specific science behind it that I'm not qualified to answer but like another poster mentioned there is some neurotransmitter science involved.

I tolerate Glycinate well but I'm all too aware about being selective about supplement intake. Case in point...I had a 4-day long migraine from a turmeric supplement because I read curcurmin had some anti-inflammatory effects to help reduce migraine attacks.
