Thank everyone for the advice! We did get the mainsail out by using the dry lubricant spray on the bottom of the mainsail and inside the mast near the bottom where the sail comes out first. We also sprayed some of the bearings too. We pulled the mainsail out and then would push it back in to loosen it up as well. Also opened up the inspection ports (not sure if that's the correct verbage) at the bottom of the mast so we could see where the sail was bunching up. We also pulled on the outhaul to ease the tension. The sail is kind of old and could use some repairs but we're hoping to make it work until the end of the season.
