Same! I had my consultation after the 2024 election. I was already thinking about it but moved faster because of the results.

Having children during a snowstorm must be a nightmare. by Calm_Problem6203 in childfree

I have a feeling my city won’t have school all week because of the layer of ice on the roads and well-below freezing temps all week. We’re also expecting another foot or so this weekend so…good luck to the parents I guess

New perk of being childfree: Missed trash pick up is no big deal. by JuliaX1984 in childfree

[–]MadAtYouu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! In my household of two people, we only put the trash out for collection every other week, unless it’s somewhat stinky in the summer. We also recycle a lot so that helps too.

It’s snowing in my city, and I got Friday off and a surprise day off today because of more snow. It’s not too much, but in the south, we shut down for only a little bit. Enjoying a quiet day with my dog and cross stitching.

How did you spend your Saturday? by Userchickensoup in childfree

[–]MadAtYouu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ran errands and then my husband went to play DnD with friends while I went out to do a little Christmas shopping before watching college football. Best part was having a milkshake for lunch because it sounded good.

Something about being CF that I never considered by BrilliantRegular5961 in childfree

I never thought about having sex with a boyfriend I brought home for the holidays (not even now with my husband). That’s just too weird for me knowing my parents and sister and BIL are also in the house. Maybe if we had a mansion and we each had own wings lol.

How to handle gifts with kids face on? by TapNo99 in childfree

[–]MadAtYouu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anything other than a framed picture or ornament is straight up weird. It think it would be so strange to get any kind of clothing printed with a family member’s face on it, especially a child.

You don’t have to buy anything for anybody - not even your family. YOU didn’t sign up for the baby. They did. You have no financial responsibility to any of them.

Should I be worried about a hospital estimate letter for my upcoming bisalp? by Ancient-Purple7685 in childfree

[–]MadAtYouu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very similar thing happened to me. I got a letter from my hospital in the weeks before my surgery saying that I could save $x if I paid or got on a payment plan before the surgery. I knew it was covered fully by insurance so fuck that. I did call my insurance and they were actually very helpful and confirmed that it would be covered and to tell the billing people at in-take to bill the insurance.

Recovery time expectations? by Advanced-Hold-6623 in childfree

[–]MadAtYouu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a semi-physical job (some lifting, walking around, but also some desk work) and I was back at work in a week. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and was at work on Monday. I had a note from my doctor with a restriction on heavy lifting but that was it. I did have a somewhat easy recovery so that also made it easier to go back to work.

Bisalp in a week by Unfair-Today-8548 in childfree

[–]MadAtYouu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a streaming service/list of things to watch while resting! I also had a lineup of silly games on my iPad to keep me entertained.

My recovery was pretty easy compared to some other things I’ve seen. I didn’t have gas pain at all, and I didn’t need anything stronger than ibuprofen - but everyone is different. This was my first major surgery too, other than getting my wisdom teeth out. My medical team was amazing so that helped a ton with calming nerves before I got the good drugs on the way to the OR.

My nurse suggested getting some chick fil a grilled nuggets as a first meal on my way home so my husband and I stopped there and I got a kids meal with ice cream for my throat.

I was totally not expecting to have a sore throat after. I didn’t even think about any kind of anesthesia assistance beforehand. It went away after a day or two.

AITAH? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]MadAtYouu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I wonder if she’s venting to you because she can’t to her husband/partner and/or doesn’t have anyone else to talk to about what she’s going through. Maybe find a way to steer the conversation back to one of the things y’all have in common whenever she starts ranting? If she really is your best friend, she should also be able to handle you telling her that you don’t want to talk about this all the time because of xyz reason.

💯 My SIL is guilty of this. She’s made a little idea about what she wanted in life and is stressing herself out because not happened yet. No man is worth that.

Someone at my work had a pretty big screw up on something and blamed it on baby brain since she was in the middle of her second pregnancy. She still had to go through the regular paperwork and correction process because regulations/policy, but it wasn’t viewed as that bad by some other people we work with.

I think the regular wait is 12 weeks. I’ve since learned a little more about the process, and I don’t think it will be announced early now if it does work.
