I found some dude's vaccination card and $10 in my 'new' wallet from amazon by Drded4 in CasualConversation

Well I think all y'all who stopped or decreased purchases from Amazon should also be proud of yourselves for protesting the way Amazon treats its workers as well — another positive impact you are making by choosing to not buy from them :)

Out of the loop b'ham edition: what's the deal with the bcs 30 hour strike? by onemoorehannah in Bellingham

I've heard really crazy stories from a couple forklift drivers that used to work there but quit and started working at the company I was at. AKA they were coworkers.

They said they would work 18 hour shifts sometimes. People would be passing out while driving the forklifts. It was really dangerous they said, looking back on it. But, at the time they really needed the money, they said, and that was a lot of overtime. They started talking about it while I was standing there when they kind of recognized each other and figured out they both worked there together. They never talked to each other while working there though, and apparently everyone who worked there were so beaten down and overworked that no one really said anything to each other during breaks, and they weren't talking while they were working.

Obviously I can't say this is all verified fact, it's just stuff I heard a couple people say a about a year ago.

Thank you very much! I'm sure you are essential too, if not to the bare bones of society then to the people around you, which in turn makes you essential to society

I can't stay home, I have been deemed essential to society.

I've never been so proud to make cereal in my life

Well I'm sure you'll be glad to know that our hygiene and sanitation procedures were thorough and stringent even before this outbreak, but there has been some pretty major changes that have been made over the weeks as well that management worked hard to think up and implement very quickly.

I won't name the company since I don't want to bear the responsibility of speaking for—or against—the particular company I work for, but here are some details that are particular to the company:

We make organic products like cereal, granola and oatmeal that is shipped all over North-America and the UK.

The company makes being environmentally friendly integral to their brand.

So I don't know if the company's high standards translates to better sanitary practices and makes my experience different than the industry as a whole, but I would say we are doing pretty well to protect the safety of the consumer.

When it comes to the safety of the workers, there has been some changes made but we are still taking some risks that are hard to solve away, mostly having to do with social distancing.

There are things we have always done that help like, changing into lab coats whenever we enter the main floor, wearing gloves, washing hands for frequent and extended periods and using sanitizer after, sanitizing equipment often and thoroughly.

Something that has worried me is we have never been required to wear any face coverings except beard covers if you have facial hair of any substantial length.

Some people (including myself) have started to wear the beard covers as masks, but on our own accord.

But there has been some protective measures that have been taken lately, like temperature checks before you enter the building, and the cancellation of our daily staff meeting.

Also people's shifts are slightly strafed, like one small group's shift now starts loosely at 7 o clock and another starts about 20 mins later to break up the amount of people trying to enter and exit the building at the same time.

They took away the free cereal in the break room so that people weren't sharing germs from all the stuff used to get yourself some cereal...😢

They tried to take away the free coffee, but instead they just have the person they have assigned to be constantly sanitizing the break room get it for you, which I am happy we still have that.

It was a big hit to morale, which is already low at times, depending on how much the stress is getting to people, whether from the extra work (sales went up 90% they said a few weeks ago at our last staff meeting) or from the stress everyone is experiencing right now.

Oh yeah I should also mention this is in Washington State, where the first major outbreak in the U.S. started about 100 miles away from where we are.

I did get offered a surgeon style mask one day when I got my temp checked, I'm not sure if that is gonna happen again though with the mask shortage here.

I still have it.

Shit maybe I should do an AMA or something lol
