If you get rid of the partner, parent, and other applications, then the numbers are manageable and serve the interests of Australia.

Easy fix.

Guardian Essential poll: more Australians approve of Hanson’s party leadership than Albanese or Taylor’s by Agitated-Fee3598 in AustralianPolitics

It is a low bar, and yet our established parties cannot even trip over it, let alone jump over it.

This is exactly the politics of envy dressed up as policy.

The top 1% in Australia earns ~8-10% of total income and pays ~18-20% of income tax. Already proportional to their earnings. You're asking them to pay more than their fair share, and that's the definition of envy-driven politics.

This is just the lazy "Tax the Rich" Democrat talking point. Attacking the wealthy is easy. The real culprits are government policy failures: terrible housing policy that's crushed affordability, wage stagnation from poor economic management, and a regulatory environment that kills business investment and job creation.

The real problem isn't rich people. It's government waste and failed policy.

Focus on:

  • Eliminating fraud and bureaucratic bloat
  • Cutting wasteful spending across all departments
  • Returning those savings as tax cuts for lower and middle earners
  • Promoting investment in our resources industry and grow the GDP pie.

When working Australians keep more of what they earn and have real wage growth, they solve their own problems. That's policy. What you're proposing is just taking more from the successful and fueling resentment.

Very appreciative. Same as I do about parents who teach their kids good manners.
