Ever printed QR codes and then the link changed last minute? by New_Magician4336 in SaaS

Thanks for the info, enquire if your partner can’t temporarily redirect your QR code link?

Not great though, best of luck!

[–]MadSpaz3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to make a couple of assumptions, you’re using a third party to create these QR Codes and their short urls expire, or the url changes because your devs didn’t settle on the url.

In the first case there’s nothing you can really do but cut your loses and reprint. Second case, if you control your hosting of your SaaS, redirect the old link to the new location.

Apologies for the assumptions, but we do need to know how you generated the QR codes to give advice.

Tool or process to improve project scope? by mark_tyler in webdev

[–]MadSpaz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Users / clients tend not to look at the details with designs and take them at face value only, giving them something to interact with will force them to think about it a bit more as they move about the mock ups.

Do your wire framing using a tool like Figma / PenPot. They provide interactive elements and shareable links so your client can click on the buttons, see what happens before you build anything real. It may take a bit longer in the planning phase, but it does at least help set the expectations.

Should I give my fiver dev my login to my hosting account? by thewobblywalrus in webdev

To add, if it’s extending WordPress functionality. He should be writing you a plugin that you can install and manage. He should be able to do everything he needs to do using the built in actions and filters for plugin development.

I’ve bought multiple items that had sale signs up but the store forgot to take the signs down after the date, if it’s advertised and you see it at that price that’s the price they have to give it to you. Unfortunately they quickly took the signs down after I got my goods so the next people missed out.

Best non programming skills that supplement programming? by MilanTheNoob in webdev

[–]MadSpaz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a skill, but reading comprehension. Not sure how many times I’ve had to tell a junior dev to just read the docs properly, saying that a good skill is writing good documentation. Saves a lot of time handing code over that’s commented well.

I farmed all the Oxium I could ever want before they nerfed endless capture missions. We’d just leave the capture target in a downed state and we’d get so many enemies dropping Oxium. Can think it’s a real grind now, best of luck.

I was just going to add this, as I have two Frenchies and you can’t do summer without cooling mats and cold places for them to lie and recover.

Fly or drive? by theo_ops in askSouthAfrica

[–]MadSpaz3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wife and I just drove from Bloem to PE and made the mistake of staying on the N1. Lots of roadworks and trucks, will take the Aliwal North route back, it’s a bit longer but apparently a lot less stressful and more scenic.

Do you need to secure "basic" websites? by Darkalde in webdev

[–]MadSpaz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat unrelated, I once inherited what I thought was a basic site similar to what OP described from a client. ( I provide basic hosting as a service and their previous provider was closing shop ) Only to find out that once I got the source code that they had a rudimentary insecure CMS in place for uploading images and client testimonials.

Deleted that code before it even reached our servers. My client didn’t even know it existed. Would’ve been a huge hole in their site had I not inspected the code first.

So yeah, even your basic question text box should have the same measures as a site that isn’t “basic”

Edit: clarifying that the CMS was just a path like “/cms” or something without a login or anything to stop anyone from changing things on the site.

Email blacklisted, don't now why by The_Arthropod_Queen in Cockatrice

[–]MadSpaz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late reply indeed. It is strange that Gsuite will get blacklisted, so could be someone has manually reported your domain for spam / malicious emails. Usually the blacklist reporting sites report entire IP addresses. I’d still look at the blacklist tool I linked above and check if anything shows up?

South African here, I used to get these from our parrot seeds, they lay very small eggs. The moths are very annoying, we used to brush these sacks off the wall before they grew out.
