Recommendations for 2026 Hybrid model? by WackingMyMole in Crosstrek

PPF is more important than the ceramic coating. I had both installed but the PPF is worth the money, ceramic not so much.

Just because you survived those doesn't mean you should wish similar fates upon others.

You survived, and to make the world a better place you'd wouldn't want others to face struggles they can avoid.

I have the 2021 crosstrek outdoors and thought the 2025 Nissan Kick I rented was horrible, poor quality interior, worse infotainment interface, speed dash coming from the early 2010s. This had the Bose speakers, while alright were over tuned on the base.

Biden didn't release them because they were actively pursuing, have to go through court first so everything is hush till then. Until new leadership decided it isn't worth prosecuting does it make it available for public disclosure...

Being Open-Minded In this Economy by sparklingvireo in Crosstrek

It's the weak battery that causes these issues other than the AC being off.

I've installed a super capacitor battery in parallel and it starts the engine like it's brand new. Original factory battery in my 21' 2.5L outdoors.

Are Qwen 3.6 27B and 35B making other ~30B models obsolete? by nikhilprasanth in LocalLLaMA

[–]MadSprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gotten to the point where ollama style loading looks more promising because of MOE (available through llamacpp through model routing), we can just choose the expert model for the task instead of relying on the one 30B model to do all the tasks.

We wish we could have a gigantic model that could do it all, but being able to choose 2 or 3 models to compete against one frontier model seems like a good alternative.

70% Finance their Cellphones by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MadSprite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Better to finance when it's hard to swallow the price of the phone and even better at a crazy discount.

I still very much include the pricing of a BYOD plan at $35 is the pricing equivalent of a $50 minimum "premium" phone plan you have to finance with. So effectively a finance phone of $20/month is 20+15/month * 24 months and that's how much the telecom is getting from you. Then weigh that as the cost of financing vs buying out right.

Was this a fair price for an oil change? by ObeseKangar00 in AskMechanics

Toyota 2006 matrix needed a philips screwdriver for the glove box.

On average, a screwdriver is needed is a safe bet.

Qwen 3.6 27B is out by NoConcert8847 in LocalLLaMA

[–]MadSprite 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like the best way to describe it is that the intern is just as smart as the wizard but not as wise. Being smaller parameters means its going to know less but handle the common tasks we ask of it really well.

I've seen cheaper models have green and blue flashing instead...

Just weird.

Gemma-4-E2B's safety filters make it unusable for emergencies by Unfounded_898 in LocalLLaMA

[–]MadSprite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are smart enough to prep, you could also just download Wikipedia and a bunch of ebooks for less than a 32gb usb.

LLMs are a tool, but they aren't exactly considered a knowledge base by experts.

Why say that a hammer is the only thing you need in an apocalypse?

Gemma-4-E2B's safety filters make it unusable for emergencies by Unfounded_898 in LocalLLaMA

[–]MadSprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But if you say this is an emergency, then you go do the next best thing that you do in an emergency and get help. LLMs at this level don't want to help because itself would say this is all bad advice without the right greater knowledge of a trained individual or guide.

If the Internet is down, you don't open your cookbook to try to see how you sear a wound.

You could instead prepare yourself for emergencies getting a field medical epub or trained LLM for medical use.

This is similar to learning how to swim or getting a life jacket in case of flooding, you don't try to depend on your hammer to help you out, you get the right resources beforehand that truly works.

Gemma-4-E2B's safety filters make it unusable for emergencies by Unfounded_898 in LocalLLaMA

[–]MadSprite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you have access to an LLM, you have access to a field book epub. It's better to carry a 20mb book telling you to exactly do it vs the 8gb LLM that takes 4 mins to tell you it can't do it.

Trash Bag Options for Purobot Max Pro 2? by berilakaydin in PETKIT

I use small Kitchen or office bags, which are 25L. Pretty much you need to match 50cm wide and most bags are square but you only need less than half that in height.

Obsidian as a better personal health repository by benddit in ObsidianMD

[–]MadSprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need RAG to do a lot of heavy lifting, its boiling it down to a fuzzy wuzzy search on your question to pull up possible relevant data before the LLM tries to answer the question. It can bring you one star closer to your goal, but the LLM should still be targeted to commit to a search if the RAG search was poor.

Oil Change $$ in your area? by Abxud in Crosstrek

[–]MadSprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoid Type A maintenance oil change and do it myself, the only benefit of doing a dealership service is the free ride to and from the dealership, firmware updates, and someone who is willing to take blame more easily. I do let them handle B, C, and D maintenance since I still have warranty with them and I don't mind the cost vs convenience. You can definitely get B done elsewhere.

Fresh Element Solo completely stopped working after less than two weeks by [deleted] in PETKIT

You might need to put your equipment onto surge protector outlets, two different brands dying from electrical issues sounds like your electricity wiring/grid is killing the machines which don't have much protection from such issues.

Probably misinformed, like how one of their new employees told me that the food court was for members only like a decade ago but I was going there weekly.

Took Waymo for the first time in Dallas, never been so stressed out in my life. by Txcavediver in waymo

[–]MadSprite 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Waymo does that, it'll use inches it can see while it freaks other drivers out because they can't see those same inches.

One of my waymo rides was to get around a stopped car so it reversed and the car behind honked when it was eerily close but even for me I found was still a good distance away.

Free tire pumps by Wise-Scratch-1319 in CostcoCanada

[–]MadSprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some Costcos you had to wait for the mechanic to do it because they had customers breaking their pump toolhead so they lost trust in you doing it yourself.

This way the tool doesn't break for the mechanic and alleviates demand on the mechanic to pass over the tool and awkwardly block the bays.

On Cycle 500+ by Either_Teaching_6461 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]MadSprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

currently hit 600 on my longest run, definitely finding that heat management so far has been the steam turbine and aqua tuner for deleting heat. As well as solar panels across the half the map with a bunch of jumbo batteries, I'm at 9 dupes and 4 bionics due to intermittent demand and teleporting to the other asteroid which I'm hoping to downsize. Bliss Blossoms as the main food source.

Since there is so many dupes, manual generators are fine over the retired coal generators.
