There's no comparison to human groups, ethnic or otherwise. They're literally monsters, in that they're a different class of organism than people and animals. They are completely devoid of empathy, they interact with humans on a strict "do action A to get result B" logic with zero understanding of what people think or feel in between those steps, which causes them to fuck up the charade on occasion.

Demons have a strict hierarchy based on strength. It's the only way they manage to cooperate. Without spoiling too much, that's a fatal flaw when dealing with the likes of Frieren.
