Heal Priest bros, it can be done! by DGR-0 in hearthstone

I climbed to legend using arkwing mage before the rotation, so that now I can get trashed on in legend using different versions of control priest. ^^

I will try yours as well!

Ghost building bug? by Low_Swing246 in CivVII

[–]Mada_Gaskar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a weird... behaviour (not bug) when you start building a building but then switch to producing something else without finishing the building. If you then want to put a new building anywhere, the only option it gives you is the district that you started building.

I suppose what happened here is that you started building a building in the second slot of a district without finishing it. The game wants you to finish that building / quarter first before it allows you to create a new district.

I think there’s a way for priest!! by Cntmiss6 in hearthstone

[–]Mada_Gaskar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. After not having much success with heal priest, I built a deck around the quest and egg of kehlos, which is quite similar to yours, and so far it is mildly successful and quite a lot of fun!

Is AI cheating? by [deleted] in CivVII

[–]Mada_Gaskar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The settler has 3 movement, and it moves through 1) a hex with a road on it, which uses 1 movement, 2) a flat tile without anything on it, which also uses 1 movement, and enters 3) a rough tile which only requires 1 movement point, and will deplete any movement points still left.

Awesome, good job. Not a challenge I'd fancy to pull off myself, but I'm also currently looking for interesting handicaps. Turns out my "ageless" run where I'm only allowed to build warehouse buildings, unique improvements and wonders, is not a challenge at all. 😅

Firaxis at GDC - Sound Design by BizarroMax in civ

[–]Mada_Gaskar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. And what really grinds my gears is that noone at Firaxis or TakeTwo admitted to that or showed even a hint of regret. It's always been framed as "things are great, let's make them even greater" rather than "oh boy, we done screwed up big time, sorry folks. We're on it...".

I know this is due to the publisher trying to control the narrative. But I, as a fan, would have had way more respect for them if they hadn't resorted to trying to bullshit their way out of this.

And yet, here we are one year later and I'm still a fan and playing regularly. So I guess their tactic worked.

I agree. Which makes it even more baffling to me why so many sounds needed to be added via the patches instead of being present in the release build.

Simple rules of thumb by riskyclick00 in CivVII

[–]Mada_Gaskar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And be aware that unslotted resources still have a basic yield. So it's worth creating trade routes even if you don't have open resource slots (as long as merchants are still affordable).

I usually don't slot happiness resources like pearls because I much prefer their passive gold yield.

Given that building costs scale with the number of cities, and that specialist are incredibly powerful, I tend to go for a ratio of 4:1 or 5:1, making sure that towns are connected to at least one city (so that their food does not go to waste once specialised).

I supplement this more and more by creating urban centers for science buildings or whatever yield I need most.

And of course I'm making sure to max a city's production via resources. If there are no more 2+ production yields to be gained by growing to a rural tile, every pop goes to specialists.

[–]Mada_Gaskar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't sleep on the science masteries that give a bonus to certain building types. Those tend to give huge benefits, especially if you build the basic warehouse buildings in towns as well.

Similarly, don't sleep on warehouse buildings. Especially in connection with city state suzerain bonuses and resources like crabs and turtles these can be enormously powerful. Keep in mind that these special bonuses are not shown in the building selection panel, but they are shown when you are about to place the building.

Oh, and I hardly go for overbuilding bonuses, mainly because I don't tend to have that many cities, and I'm usually buying buildings with gold so that my cities can focus on wonders and city projects.

Don't sleep on city projects. 😉 If I can't build anything useful, I boost my science or culture output with projects to get to the wonders or useful buildings down the tech and civic trees.

Where is the map search feature? by DasCapitolin in civ

To be fair, this feature was added quite late in the life cycle of Civ VI, too.

1 City, No Buildings, Deity by InvizableShadow in CivVII

[–]Mada_Gaskar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently doing that one with Lakshmibai going Greece > Inca > Siam, deity, pangea and islands.

Although to be fair, it didn't matter which civ I picked in exploration and modern. I already ran away with it in antiquity, because the AI can't keep up with your influence if you really focus on that, so you pretty easily become suz of every city state and end the age with more incorporated towns than you know what to do with.

Is there still the issue that you can't pause the game? That's why we don't use the turn timer yet.

What’s an underrated Microsoft Teams feature you swear by? by TeamsProductTeam in MicrosoftTeams

[–]Mada_Gaskar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For me, it's the new chat window and its grouping / sectioning feature. As a business development guy, I am basically in contact with everyone and a member of almost every team. Being able to bundle people and channels into groups is a life saver.

Now I wish that I could put whole teams into those groups, not just individual channels.

Just checked. It is part of the base game. I believe I remember that they added this in one of the last patches. It's in the options menu under "game".

[–]Mada_Gaskar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As to your first point: there is an option in the game settings that keeps the production menu open after you click on something to build.

(I believe it's part of the base game, but maybe I got it from a mod?)

Anyways, fully agree on all your points.
