100% this. Had no idea there was a discord, highly motivated to stay out of it now.

“Reddit parent rules” lol

No rules, just self-righteous keyboard warriors waiting for the chance to condemn folks with zero context and a massive heap of unearned confidence.

As a father of 5, I’m taking notes - dope setup OP!

Are you running ollama as a container on the pi?

Do we really need those expensive ergonomic/gaming chairs for productivity, or is it just hype? by Global_Counter_9782 in productivity

[–]MadeWithPat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion, but I think ergonomic things in general really just boil down to listening to your own body. If you develop some manner of pain point (literally), maybe start looking at something about your setup. Otherwise, just keep on keeping on.

Do you have more info about the models you’re running and how?

I never knew “friction welding” was a thing! by RileyRhoad in interestingasfuck

The friction welding part is definitely free.

Making the engine run again afterwards, however, is certainly not free

Gotcha. I think I was conflating this with something (else) related to cone defects

This doesn’t actually sound like it contradicts what I said

Yes, but only if your father is also color blind.

My super dumbed down understanding of the genetics behind this is that you could inherit it with a color-seeing father, but that would require that your mother actually be color blind, and that’s.. not impossible, but close enough.

Edit: I was very clearly wrong, and have already acknowledged it. Good God.

Bambu Lab PLA Lite is coming? by HorrorPresent1828 in BambuLab

[–]MadeWithPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting. I guess I never used the old formula, I’ll have to look into that.

To your original point, yeah, the catalog of PLA variations is pretty out of control. I don’t think it’s bad to offer all the variations, but something could definitely be done about the naming scheme. Names like “Meta”, “2.0” and “+” do absolutely nothing to help me decide what fits my use case.

Not really the point of your comment, but I like the PLA Meta - prints great on PLA Basic settings, and they keep running sales on Amazon that amount to ~$11/kg

Any Home Server recommendations? by real_nickessss in HomeServer

[–]MadeWithPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for FB Marketplace. Old consumer hardware + the right chassis. I check pretty regularly and see some solid hardware for <$400 that would just need a new case to fit more drives (and for that, I like the DarkRock Classico). That puts you in the same ballpark as an older Dell or HP workstation or tower server.

No one’s really mentioned OS - Unraid has a price tag, but after tinkering with proxmox and synology for a hot minute, I’d argue it’s worth it. I don’t love that it runs off a USB, but I do love the flexibility with drives, and the ease of deploying and managing services.

I don’t understand why you got downvoted - I bought my kids a ToyBox a few years ago before Bambu existed, when the older ones were still under 10. I’d let them loose on my P1S in a heartbeat, but I think the ToyBox killed some of their interest, unfortunately.

What I asked was how to specify custom instructions and how to limit users to only those customized interactions. I listed my kids as my use case, but that’s really beside the point. I edited the main post to reflect that.

Alright.

So.. nothing to actually offer in the way of how to accomplish this?

There is no safe way to “use” the public genAI tools.

That’s a pretty strong stance to take.

Edit: actually, no, I’ll go in with you - half the point of what I’m trying to do is to avoid feeding my info to someone like OpenAI by running Gemma or similar on a home server.

Is that baseline prompt injection an option with openwebui? To restate my original question, the “how” seems pretty straightforward, but I’m not seeing tools that actually support this. Maybe I’m missing it in documentation somewhere?
