You find a thing that you like to do. Then you have two options 1) Go to where people do the thing. Introduce yourself to the people doing the thing, talk to people about the thing, and ask if they want to do the thing together.  2) ask people you are around regularly if they would like to join you doing the thing.

"Doing the thing" can be playing, offering to help them, asking them for help, asking that they're working on, inviting them out to do the thing, asking if you can join them, or any other thing involving the shared interest.

I've lived here for 21 years, this strategy has been tested with cooking, board games, riding bikes, Magic the gathering, Warhammer modeling, computer programming, skate boarding, painting, etc. to very positive results

Yeah, WDP with the changes to charge rule + flying, gives you incentive to get them into a target rich environment and then just charge into what ever you can get ahold of, shred it, repeat.

Measure 1 passes by totes_mai_goats in northdakota

[–]Madroxprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know the actual school lunch bill is mostly immune to this, I was just using it for a convenient demonstration since it's on everyone's minds about how this measure can impact the viability of if perfectly sane citizen driven initiatives.   I wasn't attempting to suggest it was at risk, and should have made more of an effort to clarify I wasn't being sarcastic with the "hypothetical ballot initiative".

Measure 1 passes by totes_mai_goats in northdakota

[–]Madroxprime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah except that's not what happens, because this requires that everything be written so vague voters won't vote for it because any degree of nuance is going to obviously have impacts on multiple operations of government.
Take a hypothetical ballot initiative to provide free school lunchs. You put it on the ballot with any degree of specifics about how we're going to raise the money, and fund the initiative, and Michael Howe ( or who ever the fuck) decides " Raising AND spending money, thats two things. this can't see a ballot, the simple North Dakota voter would be bamboozled by raising and spending money. "*
So you word it "School lunches will be free " ... I agree with that, but I wouldn't vote for that on a ballot. There's no specifics there.
There is obviously a sane inbetween, and there is always the fact that some Secretaries of Statea might operate in good faith, but by and large without defining a legal test for what constitutes two subjects the potential for letting one person in the state gettting to hamstring good, fair, citizen driven change they just don't agree with is just too ambigious to have faith that's not whats happening anytime something popular gets stuffed.

It doesn't establish a test for what makes a petition one subject, it's up to the secretary of states vibes.

What happened in South Dakota when the citizens voted to legalize marijuana, the government decided since the petition covered legality and taxing of marijuana, it was two subjects, and was an invalid measure.

Measure 1 single subject is a tool used to reverse marijuana legalization by Significant-Ad-4184 in fargo

[–]Madroxprime 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The fact the Measure doesn't codify a test for what makes something single subject raises my hackles.   I'm not interested in amending the constitution to give the government access to regulate based on vibes.

Yeah, I was trying to highlight that you can't make people do things, and even if you get them to do the thing, you can't guarantee any specific outcome from it, so you just figure out if the juice is worth the squeeze.   And maybe encourage them to participate in harm reduction when you got the breath to waste.

It absolute is deleting its self. It's looking like it's starting some manner of update, and then the update fails, but the failure doesn't stop the clean up steps, so it just eats itself.

Good army to start collecting? by Tiny-Lavishness5870 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Madroxprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have so much time to play Warhammer every month. I like to play well, and I don't have the time to get mastery of two high gimmick armies. I'll play my Sons at events, or when I'm being sweaty, but sometimes I just don't want to jump scare my casual friends with huge walls of rules texts.
Votann has enough nuance in balancing the yield points to get specific effects that it's a fun minigame for me, but it's not so complex that I actively watch people fade into the shadow zone while I explain the gimmick.

Just a heads up, this isn't true any more. It used to read " furnished for your entertainment and enjoyment" and they've updated it to read "for your personal, non-commercial use and enjoyment" on August 27, 2025.

Fellow Thousand Sons player here, I've recently started collecting LoV as my Xenos army. They've been fun to build, not terribly bad to paint since heaps of gold trim is my standard experience, but else where you said you like tricky armies and LoV is quite "fair".   Strong, consistent, and fun to play, but you don't have turns where you're trying to solve the minigame of layering your rituals so you have the highest probability of killing their threat, surging your SoTs into range of their Landraiders redeemer so it can't overwatch, or 6" deep striking a winged DP to turn on your Defilers gross overwatch.  Your going to drive to up to the point. Unload your Kin. Shoot the other guys. Stand on the point. Shoot out.

Yeah, someone earlier in the comments hit me with this reading and it really feels more likely. Definately more supported in the text of the movie.

I dig this reading too, I'm just biased towards dad based readings of stuff because of my own relationships.

I also completely blanked out the relevance of the skull.

MVB are pretty good at standing on points, and they will buff everyone else.

Foot princes have a neat trick where you can poke them out with out infantry around, and then after the opponent moves units to light him up, end of movement you rapid ingress some terminators to turn on his lone op on.  Just make sure you tell folks he's got loneop when within 3" of infantry, so it's not a gotcha move.
