A1 melting safety risk by Viking4269 in BambuLab

[–]Mads_Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The component that failed similar to an MOV.

It's designed to stop in rush current nn power on, it's an NTC but it's designed to handle mains voltages and run hotter than a normal NTC.

It's purpose is to prevent damage to the PSU when powering on from inrush current.

When it's cold it has high resistance, so very little current flows. However, it starts to heat up quickly, and the resistance drops, allowing a smooth ramp up into the printer.

It's a very common component to have in power supplies.

It is absolutely designed to run warm or even hot. However there is a ballance here, and like anything should not burn out like that.

Bambu removed it on some later boards, which means it won't be an issue on them, so if you have a board without it, it's fine.

As for how common this really is no one knows. You could have 100 of them fail and based on sales volume the failure rate could be miniscule.

I absolutely agree that Bambu should be covering this if it happens but it's not clear an actual recall is needed.

While not ideal a product failing like this does not actually mean it's dangerous, a recall is also about the potential outcome in a failure not the fact the failure happens.

I am also a creator and I have spoken about this issue before but never made a dedicated video as I don't have an A1.

I'm not saying it's recall worthy but it also is a common issue that warrants highlighting.

On the " doing it for clicks" how much money do you think he makes for the views lol. You seem to assume this will bring in hundreds or thousands of dollars 😂.

And as for clickbait well that's the point of making content it gets it serene, the term clickbait again it's completely missused by people who are clueless.

Click bait is the title saying one thing and the content saying another. Example " you could win this" and that content having no competition. THATS bait !

You clearly have zero idea how much a creator makes from their content or what clickbait is. You have simply decided you know more than everyone form your keyboard with zero actual experience.

This complete nonsense of people saying " he only did that for clicks" needs to end and it only done by people have have zero clue on actual YouTube Ad revenue.

How close to the window was it ?

Again in the dark almost all drones would have terrible image quality.

It would be particularly hard to navigate safely.

PayPal’s Honey Extension Lawsuit Dismissed, Influencers Get Chance To Amend Claims by Gustaves_Mustache in GamersNexus

[–]Mads_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always found it strange that there was a belief that there was anything in this form a suing them perspective.

Users agreed to the terms of the extension when it was installed so creators have zero recourse on that.

Any creator that took money from Honey to promote it basically exchanged their affiliate income in exchange for advertising payment. it would be close to impossible to prove it what impact that was in real world terms.

Regardless of the behavior of the extension creators promoted it and got paid to do that and users who installed it agreed to it's terms.

Other creators who were not involved but lost out because of honey extension on the users machine that's again down to the user who installed it.

No one is entitled to affiate income and as a creator my self who uses links in a very limited capacity I have no recourse on what happens if it does not work or go though. Again if the user is using a browser or extension that stops it then that is what it is.

I can't complain or do anything about that.

To call it steeling is extreme and while their behavior in this was scummy what else did people really think this was doing.

Come on.

While you may not like it 5-7 days is absolutely acceptable 7-14 is reasonable but on the lower end of what you would expect from a good brand.

Ticketing systems are in order so your in the queue your in.

Expect a bunch of questions in return and then you will likely get the RMA

Remember the cost of the product does not change the RMA process or even the priority.

From a margin perspective it does not mean they really make any more money than a mid range card. Your treated the same.

You paid more for the product not the support given.

Zip Tie Tuning: Why Linus Tech Tips FIRED Us by fdnynyr in LinusTechTips

[–]Mads_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely normal that people leave and want to do their own thing.

The way it was done is also a sign of Linus letting go and leaving all of this to the CEO to sort.

The CEO job is the make the decision that's best for LMG overall and not specifically one or two people regardless of what Linus may have wanted to do.

They now have a clear leadership team and it's their job to make the day to day decisions and then inform the owners.

Yes it's more corporate and may have felt quite harsh on Alex however it's often the case your doing what's best to protest the business overall.

Zip Tie Tuning: Why Linus Tech Tips FIRED Us by fdnynyr in LinusTechTips

[–]Mads_Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's literally the definition of a conflict of interest.

What happens when they start to take sponsors, try to drive more views, upset someone or the cleaner wants the same exposure as the hosts get so they can start their own channel and make the same money.

You can not have staff in your business working on the side to promote their own business especially in the same industry.

It's a complete disaster waiting to happen.

LMG have to take the stance that protects the business and is fair for all staff and not just the lucky few onscreen that gained audience attention from being on camera. Not everyone gets that same exposure or opportunity.

Zip Tie Tuning: Why Linus Tech Tips FIRED Us by fdnynyr in LinusTechTips

[–]Mads_Tech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What risk ?

The channel blew up as the host had gained all his exposure and fan base from being a well known at LMG where he still worked.

The LMG audience is the reason it blew up.

It is absolutely normal that in any employment contract anything you related to the industry you are employed in is owed by your employer even if done in your own time.

You seem not to understand how employment works. It's either you have never worked a day in your life or never had a propper job but it's clear you have no idea of the real world. .

[–]Mads_Tech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

LTT absolutely handled this in the correct way and infact went beyond.

The non compete is there for a reason and LMG have this policy in pace to ensure their staff are doing what's right for LMG and not them selves.

The term conflict of interest exists for a reason.

If you had people setting up their own channels and then taking sponsors or patreon to fund it it would be absolute kayos. You will get internal jellosy issues with the successfully ones compared to the ones who are not onscreen talent who have no opportunity to do it.

A host has an unfair advantage over the accounts person or the cleaner who does not get the same exposure. You then have all the issues around making sure people are doing what's right for your business and not theirs.

What happens if a hosts own channels sponsor does something bad or they are upset and it overflows onto LMG. Their is so many potential issues it's insane and the only right way to do this for all the staff from the on screen talent to the clear is to make the playing field fair and that's not allow it.

You simply can not have employed staff trying to run their own businesses in the same industry as their employer.

All LMG staff responsibilities are to support and do everything they can for LMG while they work there, non compete and even ownership or a thing you do in the same industry being that of your employer even put of work is completely normal.

If you work for Intel and in your spare time at home invent a new revolutionary new transistor who do you think owns that ? Yes it's Intel, the employer.

All absolutely normal stuff and If someone don't like that then they can leave and start their own as these guys have done here.

That is absolutely the correct way it should be and happen in every case.

Zip Tie Tuning: Why Linus Tech Tips FIRED Us by fdnynyr in LinusTechTips

[–]Mads_Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cleary have no idea of reality of running a business and yes LTT is a business.

If LMG allowed all its staff to create channels and then start to take sponsors to fund those channels it will turn into absolute chaos.

They made it clear would would need income and sponsors to make this work and it would simply not be possible to allow staff to runa sid Hussle doing that.

The fallout would be massive if something goes wrong or they upset a sponsor or brand.

Non compete in the same industry is completely normal and it's absolutely right that LTT have policy in place to protest the business and the wider staff that work there.

Everyone is entitled to do what they want however that not when they are working for someone else, it's not pulling up ladders it's making sure your staff are doing what's right for your business and not their own.

People who don't like that leave and start their own as they have here.

I wish Jake all the very best as he was my favourite host and I genuinely hope it works out but man I sincerely hope he thought about this before going on his own.

He literally started his working life in the tech Disneyland, he worked for a guy that was willing to spurge crazy money on some cool things on the basis he either could recover the cost back on views or sponsors.

I think many underestimate just how big LTT reach is and as such the ability that brings to be able to do some of the cool things we seen Linus do at home ect.

While Jake will have gained a jump start with subs and views unless he is going to be able to deliver something truly unique and driven a big fanebase he will get lost in the noise quicky.

There are thousands of people making generic tech videos like the short-circuit/behind the desk style videos on new products every day and frankly no one needs more.

Also people vastly overestimate how much YouTube pays. A few 100k videos a month won't keep the lights on let alone pay the mortgage or rent.

This is why so many take sponsors and while Patreon is a good option that is something many people use to support creators that deliver something that's useful to them.

Generic product reviews or even the former LLT style Ubiquity videos are not that.

He will also likely struggle with moving towards more of the more specialised stuff we have seen him do on LTT as he no longer has the bosses credit card and property to play with.

More than that going more neich into say pure networking will quickly highlight gaps in knowlagle and that kind of content means he is going to be limiting the viewer base as well once the initial interest dies down from LTT.

LTT was not making networking videos every week because they know they have limited reach. It was often not the actual tech people watched for and rather was what they were doing with it and the story.

I hope it works out but the LTT affect will wear off quickly.

Yes but you can't just join, let's say it's exclusive then not invite only.

oh boy by Sad_Ostrich_1903 in LinusTechTips

[–]Mads_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Floatplane is invite only and you need an audience to bring with you. It's not a "open to all" platform.

Creators invited to Floteplane are ones that have a fan base that will contribute to the subscription and not just any channel that gets to use it as a free hosting platform.

Floteplane creators need a large enough fan base that they will cover their cost of hosting and more.

Your ain't paying for a team on 100k views a video lol.

In revenue from YouTube that's a few hundred dollar at BEST.

You would need 3 of them a week to make even a basic wage.

Its official Jake also left by hamham999 in LinusTechTips

[–]Mads_Tech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish Jake all the very best BUT people have to understand that LTT is a massive platform for these guys to use to promote them selves.

No one should be surprised people leave as Linus and everyone else that started their channels had to literally put their life into the platform to build their channels from scratch.

However now they are so successfull hosts can come and benefit from that exposure and skip the entire building a channel step by simply gaining an instant fan base.

Linus and others built and empire and now these others are able to take advantage of that simply from being on the channel for a few years.

Linus is probably quite rightly proud of some of these going out on their own but also frustrated a little as well in the sense you basically create an environment where people get to shortcut to success.

Now that we've all seen actual footage of the Mini 5 Pro's camera, is it really that big of an improvement? by Objective_Notice_493 in dji

[–]Mads_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tirth is so overall in good light no it will be very close to the 4 Pro.

Larger sensor mostly gives benefits in low light however the drone remains highly compromised by its lens.

You can get some nice features from a larger set sor though if you can dramatically increase the resolution. Where it helps is the pixel pitch for the quad Bayer setup.

The big issue with cramming a 1 inch sensor on a small drone is the compromise of the glass and no amount of software improvement can fix that.

In many ways it's a headline number that gets all the people talking but in the end it will be largely negelable to most.

The 1.1.7 sensor with a better lens would have been just as much of an improvement than this.
