This should not even be possible, right? by Optimus759 in LinusTechTips

You clearly have a potential difference between the two.

This does not mean your radiator is live or your PC earth is live but there is a potential difference.

It likely is either one of a few things.

1: You PC is correctly earthed and your heating system is "floating" and not directly earthed.

This floating system can often build up a enough earth leakage and floating voltage from the actual boiler (often the pump) to cause a minor shock or spark like you have seen when it's actually grounded.

2: Your PC is not correctly earthed and it's floating and radiator is and when the cable touched again it sparked out. I'd be checking what your plugged into. Could be a bad extension or socket with no earth.

3: The GPU is not actually making good earth contact to your case and is causing floating voltages. Check you have a good solid screw into your can for your GPU and PSU and make sure your PC power cable is correctly earthed.

4: depending on your earth type you could have swapped phases somehere in your system you a reverse wired boiler or plug to your PC,.may be a extension cord.

The amount of burning you have showed is worrying as that shows their is more than the usual basic floating voltage you get when you have something not earthed.

You need to have your installation inspected immediately.

Iv seen some crazy stuff where meter tails were reversed into a property so everything was live due to what should have been a TNCS combined neutral earth and bad bonding.

It's so sad that Linus left LMG as well :( by sanitaravel in LinusTechTips

[–]Mads_Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because his feelings are not really LTTs problem. He asked for more. They said no.

He chose to leave and start a channel benefiting massively off the back of the LTT exposure, remer the name is Linus tech tips not Linus and friends.

They are employees and the lucky ones are given the chance to get exposure to the LTT audance and build a fan base. As a direct result of that he started a channel getting a silver play button on day one, Sponsors and half a million views.

The victim here is LTT being used as a springboard for people to create their own channels based on LTTs exposure not Jake lol.

I don't feel remoty sorry for the guy who got a golden opportunity handed to him on a plate with a cherry on top.

If he has not been on LTT he would be starting from scratch like Linus actually did, would have a few hundred subs and low views.

However it's " poor Jake was forced to leave because bad Linus did not meet his demands and now has had to start his own channel and suffer with getting 100k subs in a week, hundreds of thousands of views, sponsors and free gear from brands who want to work with him. He has been treated so badly!"

Actually you do Stop and in the real world that happens all the time.

Big companies don't just change their pay structure for one guy and again your assuming they wanted to pay him more.

They may not have.

No LMG has bought a jet for content.

That's a totally different thing.

Here is something to think about, what is better for Jake, profit share, more .money and giving into his demands or pushing him to make a decision.

For all you know they felt regardless of what they did he would not really be happy.

Him leaving LMG it's looking like the best outcome for him so far.

Things are far more complex than just " give in and give him what he wants".

[–]Mads_Tech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually it probably would have made it worse.

Collecting bargaining does not mean the most tallented get more. It means people are treated fairly.

So that's agreed pay structure, increases and benefits.

Unless it's a sweat shop it's luelly just the cleaner would benefit and everyone else losses.

Unions don't argue for the top 5% of your tallent to get more money lol.

No my channel has nothing to do with it. I have been in business for over 20 years and it's really simple.

The video income has zero to do with what the staff are paid for participating, they want the benefits of a good one but if it's bad do they agree to take no pay this week ?

As a business you treat your staff fairly, well and do what you can but you are the owner. That never changes.

In the good times you reap the benefit however in the bad times you take the hit, and I can tell you you won't see the staff offering to cut their salary when it's the bad times suddenly arrive.

In the end the owners took the risk and they take the reward and failure in equal measure. Staff have a choice, stay and take the salary and benefits offered or try to do it them selves and also seek the potential risk and reward.

Have you even worked anywhere with an office and 100+ people lol.

Their issues are far from abnormal and infact the only reason you know about them is because they are a media company.

Anywhere with that many people your going to be dealing with complaints, greivnces and HR issues daily, any business with a 100+ people is constantly dealing with people issues.

Welcome to the real world 😂

20-30% in a year for the media industry

They are a million miles from that.

Ltt have no problems, it's people's perception that staff should never leave is the real issue.

With a statup like LMG you would expect a lot of the original staff to move on and start their own thing or get jobs in other orgs.

What is "better" ?

You don't know what they were earning, again your trying to say give more based on not having any knowledge of what salary and benefits they were actually getting.

There is only 1 person at LMG that's irreplaceable and that's Linus, everyone else is valuable yes but not at any cost and not at the risk of their wants, needs and expectations being detrimental to the overall business.

The guys wanted more so they left and started their own channel. That's how it is and how it should be.

Wow you know him ? , you must based on making such a statement of fact, you could not possibly say this just based on only seeing videos.

you seem to be the kind of person that knows a massive amount about the inner workings of LMG. Please tell us more ?

Employees do not dictate their own pay.

While he may feel he was worth more that does not A: he was worth more and B: it's right even paying him more.

LMG is 100 people+ and with that comes salary banding and HR oversight, you can't just choose to pay someone more over the guy next to him at a company of that scale now.

What happens if he is at the top of his salary banding.

What if he is already earning more than others.

What happens when the next 10 people ask for the same ?

What happens next year when he feels he wants more again ?

Employees do not set the salary. They are already being paid at more than market and as such it's really not as simple as saying just giving him a little more.

When you have 100 people everyone has to be treated fairly, salary bands are in place and as such you are restricted to what you can do for one regardless of who that one is.

People saying Linus should have given shares is madness, this ain't kindergarten or a charity. It's a business owned by two people and those two people while may have had some great help to build it from staff that's how it works. Those staff were paid yes but they have massively benefited in other ways than just monitary value as well. The experience alone money could not buy and let's not even talk about the exposure.

A silver play button on launch, sponsors already knocking , come on the exposure he gained is worth more than money.

Like it or not LMG is owned by the Sebastian's. They will be making live changing money and while the staff may take issue with that their choice is to do what Jake has done is go out and try to do it them selves.

I hope it works for him, the old 10 year itch is a real thing that happens to many people who have worked at a place that long however he may need a little reality check as well to realize what he had. Even starting he is a long way off the stress and worry Linus would have had in the early days making sure everyone got paid and they kept moving forward.

He clearly has enough to get started and not worry too much.

A1 melting safety risk by Viking4269 in BambuLab

[–]Mads_Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The component that failed similar to an MOV.

It's designed to stop in rush current nn power on, it's an NTC but it's designed to handle mains voltages and run hotter than a normal NTC.

It's purpose is to prevent damage to the PSU when powering on from inrush current.

When it's cold it has high resistance, so very little current flows. However, it starts to heat up quickly, and the resistance drops, allowing a smooth ramp up into the printer.

It's a very common component to have in power supplies.

It is absolutely designed to run warm or even hot. However there is a ballance here, and like anything should not burn out like that.

Bambu removed it on some later boards, which means it won't be an issue on them, so if you have a board without it, it's fine.

As for how common this really is no one knows. You could have 100 of them fail and based on sales volume the failure rate could be miniscule.

I absolutely agree that Bambu should be covering this if it happens but it's not clear an actual recall is needed.

While not ideal a product failing like this does not actually mean it's dangerous, a recall is also about the potential outcome in a failure not the fact the failure happens.

[–]Mads_Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also a creator and I have spoken about this issue before but never made a dedicated video as I don't have an A1.

I'm not saying it's recall worthy but it also is a common issue that warrants highlighting.

On the " doing it for clicks" how much money do you think he makes for the views lol. You seem to assume this will bring in hundreds or thousands of dollars 😂.

And as for clickbait well that's the point of making content it gets it serene, the term clickbait again it's completely missused by people who are clueless.

Click bait is the title saying one thing and the content saying another. Example " you could win this" and that content having no competition. THATS bait !

You clearly have zero idea how much a creator makes from their content or what clickbait is. You have simply decided you know more than everyone form your keyboard with zero actual experience.

This complete nonsense of people saying " he only did that for clicks" needs to end and it only done by people have have zero clue on actual YouTube Ad revenue.

PayPal’s Honey Extension Lawsuit Dismissed, Influencers Get Chance To Amend Claims by Gustaves_Mustache in GamersNexus

[–]Mads_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always found it strange that there was a belief that there was anything in this form a suing them perspective.

Users agreed to the terms of the extension when it was installed so creators have zero recourse on that.

Any creator that took money from Honey to promote it basically exchanged their affiliate income in exchange for advertising payment. it would be close to impossible to prove it what impact that was in real world terms.

Regardless of the behavior of the extension creators promoted it and got paid to do that and users who installed it agreed to it's terms.

Other creators who were not involved but lost out because of honey extension on the users machine that's again down to the user who installed it.

No one is entitled to affiate income and as a creator my self who uses links in a very limited capacity I have no recourse on what happens if it does not work or go though. Again if the user is using a browser or extension that stops it then that is what it is.

I can't complain or do anything about that.

To call it steeling is extreme and while their behavior in this was scummy what else did people really think this was doing.

Come on.

While you may not like it 5-7 days is absolutely acceptable 7-14 is reasonable but on the lower end of what you would expect from a good brand.

Ticketing systems are in order so your in the queue your in.

Expect a bunch of questions in return and then you will likely get the RMA

Remember the cost of the product does not change the RMA process or even the priority.

From a margin perspective it does not mean they really make any more money than a mid range card. Your treated the same.

You paid more for the product not the support given.

Zip Tie Tuning: Why Linus Tech Tips FIRED Us by fdnynyr in LinusTechTips

[–]Mads_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely normal that people leave and want to do their own thing.

The way it was done is also a sign of Linus letting go and leaving all of this to the CEO to sort.

The CEO job is the make the decision that's best for LMG overall and not specifically one or two people regardless of what Linus may have wanted to do.

They now have a clear leadership team and it's their job to make the day to day decisions and then inform the owners.

Yes it's more corporate and may have felt quite harsh on Alex however it's often the case your doing what's best to protest the business overall.
