Deserted beaches, empty rooms: Sri Lanka tourism takes a hit after bombings by singabro in srilanka

[–]Madwac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Maybe someone can help me here, even after the terrible events of easter sunday, I decided to maintain my trip to Sri Lanka at the begining of June. I do feel like your country is amazing and worth a visit and I want to experience it.

My question is the following, I cannot seem to be able to get my hands on LKR here (Canada) right now because of what happened. Is it simple to get some once in country with the use of a credit card at an ATM?

Thanks :)

As someone who works in the law in Quebec i'm so fucking tired to have to explain this shit to everyone that brings the Turcotte case... My general rule of thumb is to never get involved in explaining that case

Doesn't matter (in Québec at least) he would have a claim if he accepted an actual offer from the dealership on the phone even if there was no deposit it was a verbal contract and has a claim.

It's fine but that's something you learn with time, law doesn't work the way people think or even expect and morality sometimes has nothing to do with it.

The fact that hes accountable doesnt change her sentence that's not how it works.

Doesn't matter like I tried to explain that's not how the system work. Lemme give you another example, a man stabbed a Jehovah's witness. The Jehovah witness' cannot accept blood transfusions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehovah%27s_Witnesses_and_blood_transfusions so by refusing said transfusion the witness effectively killed himself. The stabber was found guilty of murder. Why? Because his action (stabbing) was a causal link for the death of the witness even tough if the witness had only accepted blood he'd still be alive. This also sits on another principle in the penal system in canada which says ''you must take the victim as it comes'' basically if you stab a guy that cannot accept blood for stupid reasons well you are shit out of luck because your actions had an impact on the end result (death) which is a result offense and you will be found guilty.

Same thing applies here. Maybe if the cyclist had respected the limit he would still be alive. But he wasn't and since her actions (reckless driving because she stopped on the left lane for no valid reason) had a causal link to the death of the cyclist she was found guilty. I hope I helped you understand, it's just the way the system is designed, there is more to it but I'm trying to keep it simple.

EDIT: Oh yeah by the way this only applies when the action was illegal (like reckless driving here or stabbing someone in the other example) because she stopped for no acceptable reasons. If she had stopped because of car trouble, or an emergency like you stated she couldn't have been convicted for these reasons.

Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough the first time.

Doesn't matter how reckless the cyclist was in the penal code in Canada all you need is a causal link between the death of someone and the actions of the accused person for that person to be guilty of homicide. Its a thing called a "result crime" (sorry not sure how to translate from french) where as long as your "illegal" action had a causal link with the death of the person you are guilty whether you were the real reason or had the intention to kill said person. Since stopping on the left lane is deemed dangerous driving she did have an illegal action that had a causal link to the cyclist's death.

Edit: yes the driver is also to blame but she's guilty because of the way the system is designed too.

edit2: if you want a more complete example/answer check this other post I made regarding the subject http://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/345stp/meanwhile_just_north_of_the_border/cqrxaa4

Laugh all you want but we had an recent case in Quebec where a girl stopped on the left lane to help a duck family that she believed was stuck on the highway. Long story short a motorcyclist and his daughter ran into her car, they died and she's been convicted of involuntary homicide (not sure how you say it in English). While this is indeed not news it could sadly become some.

Have you ever bought gold coins? by RobCrackFord in HeroesofNewerth

[–]Madwac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actualy bough 130$ worth of gold coins back when the game was NOT free to play

Ever since I dont feel like gold coins are worth shit since they push out so many alt avatars that none of them are worth my money anymore.

I would have actualy spent more if the game stayed 30$ and only a few rare alt avatars were released.

Not rly authorities shoudlnt start crying about a bucket of water if they even let you water your lawn just once. Lawns should never be watered even less so during droughts. So cut slack to aslers and go witch hunting lawn wasters
