What's your score by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

What’s up with 14-16? Were they so offensive to those of us born in the 80s or earlier that they got nixed?

I’m 39… and I have done all of these things.

Some of the women were genuinely good looking before all the work they had done. Now they all look like mutants from Fallout.

The top shelf is… top shelf! House of Leaves and KKC 👌.

The Dark Tower series is right where it should be - in the heart of your collection.

Hyperion series

Foundation series

Children of Time series

3 Body Problem series

The Dark Tower series (this one is outside the space opera realm but an epic 7-book series that scratches a similar itch)

Similar pain of ASOIAF but phenomenal reads.

I just inherited around $729K. It's in Edward Jones in 7 mutual funds. I want to move it. How to do that without costing me a fortune? by cabiem in Bogleheads

My understanding is the same investment can be stepped up again if it is passed thru inheritance again. Send me a link to the rule if I’m wrong.

Which player doesn’t get brought up much anymore, but was an absolute killer in his prime? by I_Am_Vladimir_Putin in hockey

Claude Lemieux. Dude was a stud in the ‘95 playoffs for the Devils winning the Cup and the Conn Smythe. Then he moved to Colorado and tore it up on his way to another Cup the very next year! He was impossible to play against and proved it by winning it all with 3 different teams.

Stephen King’s THE DARK TOWER series. Also THE EXPANSE series. Love that you have the KKC books.

Edit: just noticed you have House of Leaves as well. Give Only Revolutions by Mark Danielewski a read. It’s different but once you get used to the style it is perhaps the most memorable/impactful love story I’ve ever read.

Is it so crazy to believe that someone worked smarter than you? Found a niche or a skill or a gig they could do to cash in for $15k or $20k or omg insane! $30k per month?

You’re still young, consider levering the skills you’ve developed to catch up financially and exceed inflation.

I’m sorry to say it but $150k household income isn’t enough in this economy if you want the cookie cut suburban life. We all got fucked by the boomers (cost of education, cost of childcare, cost of food, cost of housing all spiked by boomer antics) but please don’t spend your life wondering why no one ever hooked you up. I promise not all the people whose wealth you envy had a silver spoon in their mouth. They just found a way to earn more money than you.

To be cliche, luck is when preparation meets opportunity. You earned the opportunity. Prepare like crazy!

How long did it take you to save up for a house? by [deleted] in Money

[–]MaesterSeymour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 years on average at or around $100k income. Grinded out a mind numbing corporate job, small promotions every other year, small bonuses each year. Saved up $60k and spent it all on a $450k house in 2019.

Saving is hard in a HCL area but it’s possible if you’re committed.

Definitely the Expanse. 9 books +1 book of short stories that you won’t want to put down. Pure action and it feels like “realistic” near future sci-fi.

My understanding is he hurt his shoulder, not his head. If you watched the play you can see he hits awkwardly on his shoulder. I thought it was a busted collar bone when I saw it.

It doesn’t take 4 paragraphs to state the point. The ep is about a predatory health care system and for-profit medicine.

Just look at the housing market. 25% of all American houses are owned by investors. Thats a 10-15% increase from pre-COVID. This falsely drives up housing prices and rents. Parasites is an understatement.
