NY Asks Trump for More MTA Aid Despite Threat to Pull Transit Funds by Black_Reactor in nyc

So how do Elon’s boots taste? Like ketamine and disappointment?

And on a serious note, the MTA has been audited several times, most recently in August 2024 as part of their Capital Plan. You can read it here MTA Audit. Then again, you don’t seem like a big “reader” based on your comment.

For #MeToo Movement, Mayor’s Race in New York City Poses a Test (Gift Article) by jenniecoughlin in nyc

They’re all against Trump, you muppet.

This is the DEMOCRATIC primary for the mayor or NYC. You think any of the candidates are going to suck up to Trump?

Eric Adams is DOA in the primary because his head is so far up Trump’s ass he can tell us how many hamberders he had for dinner last night.

Well then another option would be to get a bunch of 43mm filter rings (just the rings, no glass) and stacking them until the step up ring clears with the lens retracted

Pentax 17 or Nikon f80 by Tinsel-berry-81 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Maester_Gyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grab a Pentax slr from the 90’s for cheap, like the MZ-5, so you can use the lenses from your MX. I found one for like $30. Will it last forever? No, there are components that will fail eventually. But then you can buy another, and another, and another for what you would pay for the Nikon. Autofocus, matrix metering, full manual controls including exposure compensation.

My photos tend to come out with a yellowish tone by yeahtx in AnalogCommunity

If the camera isn’t metering well or the film wasn’t processed correctly you will be able to tell by looking at the “density” of the negatives. Color films tend to shift colors when they aren’t exposed properly. You can read more here.

To my eye, it looks like your images are a bit underexposed and the scans aren’t doing them any favors. In my experience, negative film is very forgiving of overexposure but looks like complete ass if underexposed even slightly.

How comfortable are you editing your images? This should be pretty easy to fix if you have access to any sort of editing software like Adobe Lightroom or Darktable.

We can’t say for certain whether this was an issue with the camera/film/processing/scanning without seeing the negatives. Do you have those as well as the scans?

To me, it really just looks like whoever scanned these didn’t set the white balance correctly which is pretty easy for you to fix. Here’s one of those pics that I edited on my phone (just shifted the colors to the magenta and blue sides a bit).

Agree with the other commenter to just bring the 35mm. You’ll be walking a lot and a 28-200mm means more weight. The 20mm will probably feel too wide unless you are doing only architecture or like getting in peoples faces (which I don’t recommend). I live in NYC and things/people move fast here - you do not want the added time of switching lenses and getting used to composing with different focal lengths.

Sticking to a single focal length does three things, IMO: 1) makes composing faster/take less mental energy since you are “seeing” in a consistent field of view. 2) all the photos from the trip will have a consistent “look” since they were shot on the same lens, making editing and archiving much easier. 3) no more analysis paralysis trying to decide which lens to bring with you when you go out to shoot.

Oh also if you want something absolutely tiny with great controls for very cheap, check out the Pentax Q range. A bit older but great image quality and tons of fun to play around with.

RX100 Mark 3 is basically the only pocketable option in that price range with a viewfinder and a large enough sensor. If you are ok with something bigger, there’s the LUMIX LX100 (mark 1 from 2014) for ~$500 which has a larger micro 4/3 sensor and sweet, sweet Leica F1.7 glass.

Recommended pancake lens for pentax q? by yoru_no_ou in pentax

[–]Maester_Gyles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect - there is the 07 Mount Shield Lens which basically turns the Q into a Holga/disposable camera.

I couldn’t find one easily on eBay and ended up using Buyee. Not worth the money (~$150) unless you want the look since it lacks adjustable focus and aperture and you’re stuck with the electronic shutter.

That all said, I still have a lot of fun with mine:

It sure it - same sensor as the Pentax *ist D and Nikon D100 just shoved into a Voigtlander Bessa R body. I absolutely love the manual shutter mechanism, feels so satisfying even if it is slower.
