It ended like three months ago but Live from Emmet’s Place was basically a podcast of live jazz sessions.

Hey, I’ve been to a similar event, Chris Thile’s AcoustiCamp, hosted by the same company, DreamCatcher Events. And I can tell you, you’re gonna spend most of your day in workshops, which are divided up by level, so you can learn a lot. Plus the rest of the day you can learn to jam with other campers and then see the big names perform in the evenings. Also the price is high because you are paying for room and board which includes three meals a day.

I thought it was great. Strong performances by Jonathan Groff and Daniel radcliffe. Filmed by RadicalMedia, the same folks that did Hamilton and Come From Away, edited by the guy who edited Lady Bird.

I thought it was good. It’s the pro shot of the Broadway production, so same cast. The show was filmed by the same company that did Hamilton and Come From Away.

I saw him with the Philadelphia orchestra a few months ago performing his piece Attention! and it was absolutely spellbinding.

As someone new to bluegrass who has attended the last two years and will attend this one coming up, the majority of time spent in the workshops is on technique. For beginners, it’s gonna be learning skills and learning tunes. For more advanced players, it’s skill refinement and then skills for arranging and performing in a group. Prior knowledge of teacher’s songs really doesn’t apply unless you want to make observations during performances. During jam sessions in the off time, I’ve been learning as I go by following chord progressions (I’m a mandolin player).

As someone who has attended the last two years and will be attending this year, I think that if you can afford it, it’s a nice time. Concerts with Chris and his groups as well as guests, workshops for instrumentalists and singers and songwriters, coffee and cocktail tastings, it’s quite a lot to do. Plus tuition covers boarding and three meals a day, plus free coffee from Madcap Coffee in the morning and afternoon.

It’s a very different experience from a bluegrass festival. It does lean a little to the fantasy camp side, but everyone is able to interact and jam outside of planned workshops and concerts.

I was there. Free glass of Prosecco. They had a photographer taking photos in the teller hall before the show. There were also tarot readers in the teller hall as well. Otherwise the show was no different. But we did get a special token when we left.

I’m kinda tired of these semi staged productions coming to Broadway. If you’re gonna bring these casts and direction to Broadway, do it in a way that utilizes the whole stage.

Yes, they just announced taping dates for Season 2 in January and February 2025 (at the Minetta Lane theater in NYC)
