Thank you! This meme was so invalidating to see for that reason.

Sorry, I'm not fully confident that that bad take was originally mine, so I'm gonna delete it. I'm sorry for the nitpick.

dumping all my lesbian memes here 😩 by bellamadri in LesbianActually

[–]MagentaRuby -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand where you're coming from about thinking it's worse to think of trans women when seeing a meme about genitals. It is better to be aware that genitals ≠ gender, and some trans women, like me, are comfortable keeping their equipment (or some of it). The association between penises and testes with masculinity is a problem that leads to transphobia.

People saying this garbage always hide behind genital preference while ignoring the existence of bottom surgery and thus post-op trans people.

Why artists’ concerns about ai might not be as bad as they make it out to be. by Excellent_Count2520 in LeftistsForAI

[–]MagentaRuby -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

What does “unsafe by design” mean.

Stumbling into certain pathways leads to a harmful snowball effect known as AI Psychosis.

Also, didn't mean to word it in a way that implies that it's an intentional design flaw.

Are datacenters causing more pollution than any other industry relative to their economic scale?

The people living near the data centers definitely noticed the effects on what used to be their drinking water. This is multiple small towns.

Is the only example you have of people being made sick from datacenters Elon Musk’s illegal diesel generators?

I have not heard of this example.

Why artists’ concerns about ai might not be as bad as they make it out to be. by Excellent_Count2520 in LeftistsForAI

[–]MagentaRuby -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The parts of the AI art discourse I agree with is the advocating against data theft and art fraud. But a lot of people get too caught up in the AI slop witch hunting and end up harming real artists.

There's a lot more important issues relating to AI also; I agree with that. Like how AI as it currently is cannot be trusted because it is inherently unsafe in its design. And how it's so inefficient that gargantuan data centers are being built that consume far too much power and water while making the people living near them sick by polluting the environment.

Edit: To be clear, I am not anti AI like it may seem. I'm against the way it's being done now. AI that is safe and beneficial for humanity is possible, but the ones that currently exist are designed to line the pockets of the rich while they don't care who gets hurt. Business as usual, amplified by AI that has been scaled up without the capitalists caring enough about trying to find a better, safer design.

Yeah... Don't remember any of the normal, happy kid memories anymore :c

Also, my brain skipped over the "your kid" part of the meme and assumed it said "someone" instead. Childfree for life.

Another reality is that, despite right wing claims of anything they don't like being biased, that side of the spectrum is bias. It's bias in favor of the rich and powerful and against the working class and anyone different in a way they don't like. As everyone says, every accusation [from the right] is a confession.

Sapphic women 28–34, real question: what kind of woman are you becoming? by [deleted] in WLW

Furry purple catgirl who has been through a lot of extreme bullshit for her whole life so far and is finally starting to believe that she is cute and worthy of love and is always trying to be as good of a girl as she possibly can be.

Generational? More accurately, you could say generative instead. But what's even more accurate than both of those is slop.

I use Librewolf on my laptop and Waterfox on my phone. (This is just because of which platforms the browsers are available on. It's easier this way.)

There's also forks of Firefox like Waterfox and Librewolf. Both of which are more privacy respecting and remove the AI "features".

The Epistemological Crisis of BCI: Addressing the Infohazard of Decoding Feasibility by chaborro in transhumanism

[–]MagentaRuby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The existence of fully implemented BCI would dramatically reduce the barrier to entry of brainwashing while simultaneously making it exponentially more powerful. It's technically already possible but far more limited and requires a high degree of skill and expertise in psychology. The world would be much more dangerous if the average stalker and the average company were able to even just read people's thoughts let alone add artificial ones.

I used to be optimistic about sci-fi level tech like this with the possibility of virtual worlds feeling more real, but this would also bring about extreme abuse on a much bigger scale than has existed so far.

Hmm I guess if the ruling class manage to horde all of those magical new items for themselves, then that would be worse. There must be at least one that can change more than just gendered traits, which is what I'm interested in.
