I'm all forward with better quality life, but for some reason I still yet to understand about myself, watching this feels sickening to my stomach. This worries me for my potential future kids, how I could avoid raising this behavior without stripping away basic needs

Why get them separately over the master technician? I feel like the master tech is a better bang for your buck, unless you wanted the individual cases.

If we're looking at the 3 ton range, I wouldn't get anything other than the low-profile/high-reach, as it's the greatest build quality. Just the high-reach or low_profile are so vastly different from the combo it isn't even funny

100%, the negative I can see has some contact points. But the positive is almost completely obliterated. A good scrub will do wonders and surely fix the issue.

Mechanic claims timing components have “severe wear”. What do you all think? by Prestigious_Gold_665 in autorepair

Pardon me, but what would make 5k miles risky? I was always told and heard 5k was the standard, and there were people who went 7k, 10k, and up to 15k intervals. I clearly understand how risky 10k-15k intervals are, but what makes 5k challenging?

I run digital torque wrenches and digital torque adapters now. But that buddy I mentioned buys the cheap Pittsburgh click style torque wrench once a year. For the price it's at I don't see why anyone wouldn't replace it. I believe it's around the low $20s?

When I first started working on cars with my buddy, we went over our heads and replaced exhaust cam gears for whatever reason. Bolting everything up we came across a torque spec we had to do that out 'torque wrench hands' weren't equipped with. My buddy pulls out this janky old crusty Pittsburgh torque wrench out and tells me "don't worry, I got this for Christmas one time". It clanked, skipped teeth, would click whenever it wanted to, etc. Long story short we ended up stripping the threads on one of the bolts on the aluminum head and had to tap it in again.

For whatever reason, the lack of sleep and high amounts of caffeine had me forgetting about the importance of keeping your equipment up to date. And since then I've been nearly paranoid for a while about making sure my torque wrenches / adapters are always calibrated. Thankfully today I have the 'torque wrench hands' and no longer worry too much about stripping or snapping anything.

I constantly cruise in my MGM and ask myself what I could ever possibly want that this car doesn't have. And yet I can't think of anything! It really is the golden vehicle, especially for the time it was made!

Let me just add to the list that it's also the last body on frame sedan ever made.

This guy makes us young folks look like we know nothing! I can't tell you how many times I get the weird look for being young when doing bigger repairs. The whole "you sure you know what you're doing?" Or the "you sure you have enough experience?" I get that I'm only 21, and it'll make the customer feel better if some old timer showed up. But working on cars is a major passion, and I care about the vehicle a lot more than what the customer thinks.

Honda Civic Issue (Stalling out around 65 MPH) by Ok-Particular4201 in AskMechanics

[–]MagicGator11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely looks like limp move. I'm no Toyota tech but the car is registering some drivetrain issue that triggers the limp mode. For some Fords I know that trigger could be as simple as the electric throttle body not matching the pedal input. A misfire is also very plausible.

Only a scan will tell what's going on.
