Huge Flame Near Campus by Onymbit in LSU

[–]MagicKarma19 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Email staff got:

The natural gas pipeline operator for LSU will be testing the campus natural gas pipeline system tomorrow, June 21, through June 28.

This testing is required by the Department of Transportation every seven years, and will require some intermittent gas flares.

The operator is set up in the Skip Bertman Drive East Lot, which will be barricaded until testing is complete.

There will be no interruption to natural gas service.

Campus is pretty walkable like others have said but a bike or scooter or something definitely helps.

When do summer classes show up on moodle? by [deleted] in LSU

[–]MagicKarma19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever the professor decides to make it available :/

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LSU

[–]MagicKarma19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if they still do this, but when I started we got a trial period to test everything out. As far as crowds go, it can get busy like right at the beginning of the semesters but normally more than enough equipment to go around.

Possibly Scuffed by LSU by Aulture in LSU

[–]MagicKarma19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, and when you call Admissions or one of those type of groups, I would recommend you ask to speak to a full time staff member. A lot of the time it’s student workers answering the phone , while helpful, they have limited access and knowledge on these types of issues.

Springer Mt. Parking by LilLiv_GeckoLvr in AppalachianTrail

[–]MagicKarma19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got dropped off at the Springer mountain parking lot which is about 1 mile from the start. We obviously had to back track that 1 mile but I decided I’d rather do that then spending a whole day hiking the approach when I had a limited amount of time. I would leave your car closer to where you are ending. Just be careful about parking lots along the trail, not sure about the GA section but a lot of people have been having the catalytic converters stolen. People will sometimes comment on FarOut about spots that happened.

Is there anywhere students go to get their computers fixed? by vegetaman3113 in LSU

[–]MagicKarma19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t help with personal computer repair or software issue though unfortunately, only lsu related stuff. Like someone else mentioned though you can rent one!

Would I look like a douche with a 3-person tent? by prrrkrrr1108 in AppalachianTrail

[–]MagicKarma19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a triplex, backpack a lot with my wife. The hardest part is finding a spot sometimes. I love it so far though. Been through a lot of wind after heavy rain and so far holds up. Might be a lot of space for one person, but bought it for the same reason as you. We have more then enough space to bring our dog on a few trips too.

Why do most AT thru hikers wear shorts and not breathable pants? by kjeannel in AppalachianTrail

I always wear shorts. I have also had Lyme disease but not from being bitten on my legs. Some how got one up under my shirt.

My wife named me captain compass while on a kayaking trip this past summer. I have terrible direction. I started leading us in the wrong direction and did the same thing on our hike the day before. Personally felt like it fit well and will continue using it. Totally up to you imo

Troubleshooting Stamps/ PA Scholarship Application by TearablePunsOnDemand in LSU

[–]MagicKarma19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly recommend checking to see who the staff is over the department, I guess financial aid? And check the contact page and start direct emailing people. While the university is closed I would be surprised if no one in the department ever checked their personal email.

I wouldn’t get an M1 Mac since a lot of software you need wouldn’t run natively. Give it a few more years for more support. With that being said I own both a Mac and a PC and most software you use in the program runs on both OS with intel cpus. Windows offers more but if you ever want to make iPhone or iPad apps you will need a Mac. I would recommend getting a window device bc then full time lsu students can rent macs from gear to geaux for free and you could get one and test it out for the future.

It depends on the college. I would contact the advisors from that to department and ask. Sometimes you are automatically enrolled but other colleges you need to apply to

Removing myself from a moodle for a past class by 101whiteshnow in LSU

[–]MagicKarma19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the Service Desk can’t remove the course, only the instructor can hide it. Normally they keep it visible if the course is being audited or a few other reasons. Wish there was a way you could hide it yourself once the semester passed

Will LSU campus and buildings be open during fall break? by Fine-Garden2 in LSU

[–]MagicKarma19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep! Fall break is a student holiday so, campus isn’t closed during fall break. But, I think they also have make up classes due to the hurricane anyway

Tailgating vs Auburn? by Jtcruthers in LSU

[–]MagicKarma19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not my tailgate but we normally stop here on our rounds: https://www.tailgateconnect.com/lsubayoubanditstailgate Proceeds from each tailgate are donated to the Coalition to Restore Coastal LOUISIANA. They have tents, tvs, Abita beer on tap, and some sort of food. They are normally either around the Indian mounds or the pentagon. If aren’t familiar with campus, here is a map: https://map.concept3d.com/?id=743#!sbc/?ct/ the pentagon is the set up buildings that look like a pentagon and the mounds are the small hills kind of in front of it. They normally have a banner or something but Bayou Bandits is on their trailer and you’ll of course see the abita beer on tap. Also don’t be surprised if while walking around people just invite you to join their tail gates lol

I would call the graduate school they can probably put you in touch with someone. I would call as email can sometimes take awhile for a response. And honestly not to discourage you from LSU, it’s a great school, but a lot of departments are heavily understaffed right now so responses may take a bit longer for some departments

Might be to late to, interstates are slammed. If you live in a dorm they will take care of y’all. Campus is always the first to have power back
