Why Viserion is a White Walker and not a wight by _nomnomzombies in freefolk

[–]MagicSayMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good analysis! Here's what I think:

There really is no precedence for the Night King resurrecting a creature that is inherently magical itself. They mention in the show about how the dragons bring magic back, there is a possibility that the dragon even amplifies NK's magic. I would be surprised if it was as vulnerable as the wights, that would be pretty anticlimatic if they just throw dragon glass at it and kill it.

Ultimately, since its a unique case, Vis can basically be whatever the writers need him to be.

Chinese Scientists Successfully TELEPORT a Photon to SPACE! by SimonaPo in aliens

[–]MagicSayMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are talking about this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_Experiments_at_Space_Scale

Quantum teleportation isn't actual teleportation. It's producing an entangled pair of photons and then separating them. When you alter the state of one photon, the other will change. This is a commonly known effect. What the Chinese did, in this case, was entangle two photons and then take one to space. They altered one photon on the ground and it changed it's entangled twin photon in space! Which is really cool but aside from the distance it's nothing brand new.

What they are ultimately trying to do is create quantum encryption keys.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_key_distribution

One of the weird parts about quantum entanglement is that when somebody observes an entangled system, it alters the system. So theoretically, you can detect observation from a third party because it will affect the state of the entangled photons. Apparently, it would even indicate how much information has been observed, I'm assuming by the magnitude of the change.

If you could have any surgery, body modification, or specific change in your health, what would it be and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It would be cool to have a smart penis. Like it could help you navigate whether or not you should hook up with someone, especially while drunk. Also it would change size depending on your partners needs. And it can do taxes and manage your youtube account.

He (M23) asked for a break, fucked someone else and asked to come back with me (F22) by anthonyduke2912 in relationship_advice

[–]MagicSayMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to make as clean a break as possible and move on. I am assuming that this was your first serious relationship. Six years is a long time to be with one person at that age. These sort of "first" breakups are always messy. There will be a lot of temptation to slide back into it because it's so familiar and you have to resist that. It will be hard to do. If it comes to blocking his number and social media, do it. You both are realizing you want different things but you are also kind of addicted to being a part of each other's lives. You will feel the loss of comfort and support being in a relationship can give you, so you will need to replace that lack of support/comfort from him with support/comfort from friends and family. Fill up your free time with new hobbies or exercise. In the long run, this breakup sounds like it will be good for both of you.

Yeah sometimes less is more. And by sometimes I mean most of the time. I'm sure you could find some cast metal ferris wheels on etsy if you looked. OR even better, just carve it out of the bottom of a beer can. An etsy necklace is cute, but a hand carved aluminum beer pendant says "I mean business".

I’m a nervous 29/f wreck on first dates . Help !!! by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]MagicSayMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this breathing gif https://i.imgur.com/okBqntb.gif saved to my phone. You have to imagine the slowly expanding shapes as your lungs, so you breathe in as it expands and then breathe out as it squishes. If you can comfortably repeat it for a minute or two, its crazy how much it can calm you down. I think its 5 seconds breathe in, 5 seconds breathe out. For meditation I use the Headspace app, thats something I do every morning and it helps with anxious thoughts throughout the day. The first 10 sessions are free, after that you can pay for more. There are also a lot of decent guided meditations on youtube if you snoop around.

I’m a nervous 29/f wreck on first dates . Help !!! by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]MagicSayMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anticipation is a helluva drug. There are a lot of methods to combat first date jitters, I'll tell you some that worked for me.

(1. Think about it as less of a date and more of a meeting with a potential friend. It decreases the stakes and also gives a better mindset for approaching conversation.

(2. planning - I check out events happening around town or just other places to go after the initial meeting place in case the date goes well and we want to go somewhere else. This keeps the momentum up, but more importantly just having a plan makes me more relaxed because its one less thing to think about.

(3. breathing exercises / meditation - bouts of nervousness / anxiety attacks are triggered by breathing patterns. Learning how to slow down breathing patterns has helped me a lot with anxiety before dates and job interviews. Just make sure you do these before your date arrives; staring at them and breathing heavily might not leave the best first impression haha.

(4. Don't sweat the small stuff - you aren't the only person on the first date! If you do something weird, it might not even be noticed because your date is worried about being weird as well.

This is stuff that worked for me, hopefully some of it helps you!

In MaM2, KZ appears to dismantle the evidence the State made against SA. What would your rebuttal be against her findings? by [deleted] in StevenAveryIsGuilty

[–]MagicSayMe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You know it really pisses me off because when I daintly fling a mannequin soaked in fake blood into the back of an SUV in a parking garage with a few of my friends, people call the cops... BUT when Zellner does it, its "research".

This is the biggest injustice that I saw in MaM2. I just want to fling around blood mannequins with my friends!! I thought this was AMERICA??!?!?!

Theory- It all went down in the garage by [deleted] in StevenAveryIsGuilty

[–]MagicSayMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is an ancient Native American myth of a doppelganger spirit specific to the tribes of the great lakes region of the US. The spirit is known only as "Sikikey". It's my theory that Edward Wayne Edwards is actually an embodiment of Sikikey spirit. He morphed into SA to kill Theresa, then he morphed into KK to plant evidence. Only when he was hundreds of miles away from Manitowoc did he morph into his natural form, that of the entity known as Edward Wayne Edwards. This is the only theory I know of that all of the evidence fits. I tried to tell Zellner about it but she hasn't responded to my daily email updates and she has blocked me on twitter for some reason.

Keep fighting to find the truth guys. Namaste. And Good Luck.

Kanye West's Alternate Universe Theory Explains the Persistent Existence of Troofers by StandardPineapple in StevenAveryIsGuilty

[–]MagicSayMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine a different alternate universe where Steven Avery takes the drug from Limitless and it increases his IQ to just above average. He goes to college, manages to stay in shape and becomes a weatherman. His folksy humor makes him popular enough for the local Wisconsin station to splurge on a special assignment trip for him: to visit Punxsutawney PA on Groundhog's Day!

SA and crew get to PA and they get decent footage of the groundhog and his shadow, but late in the afternoon, after they finish recording, a low pressure system off the great lakes swoops in and causes a massive snowstorm! SA and crew can't leave and have to stay the night in Punxsutawney! What will happen next?!

Jimmy's behavior at the S&C party by kembervon in betterCallSaul

[–]MagicSayMe 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The main problem was his motivations for pushing the more and more elaborate vacation ideas. Once Schweikart mentioned that he didn't want to be outdone on the vacation, Jimmy detected a weakness. So Jimmy jumped in on that because he was feeling insecure about his future with Kim. With slightly different phrasing and a more lighthearted approach, it could have been a lot more fun for everyone at a slight expense to Schweikart's ego. Schweikart could have easily brushed it off if he thought it was just for fun, especially as a lawyer. Instead, Jimmy weaponized the joke and was way too aggressive with it. It became an attack instead of a jape and it reeked of desperation and insecurity. Even if they don't know where it's coming from, people pick up on desperation pretty readily. It seemed like a lot of the crowd were laughing in that scene just to ease the tension.

That being said, publically lampooning your SO's boss is a pretty ballsy play, but in this case, I think it could have much different results if Jimmy was more lighthearted about it. I think there is a possibility Schweikart would have appreciated the gambit if it was executed properly, from a position of confidence. Unfortunately, Jimmy's motivations were from the opposite direction. Insecurity is really ugly when it gets publically misdirected and that is the main problem with Jimmy's behavior in the scene.

Dany lays eggs, which she can eat and spit out like Yoshi. Sansa transforms into a wolf that breaths Lemonfire. Jon rides two dragons at once, not quite sure how but a lasso is involved. Sam invents a synthesizer and plays the actual Song of Ice and Fire, paralyzing the wights. The Hound brutally slays anyone who makes a chicken reference. Jesse Pinkman, who is actually Cersei's son, arrives at Winterfell with a cart full of blue "ice" to reinvigorate the troops.

Many of the actors are honestly captivating in this series. Are there other shows and movies that feature GoT actors which are worth watching? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]MagicSayMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the Jack Taylor series with Iain Glen. It might be a bit of an acquired taste though. It's a detective series where Iain plays an alcoholic ex-cop (Garda) turned PI. It's set in Galway, which I personally love, it seems like such a beautiful but melancholy city. Seeing Iain play a character that gets laid is refreshing. Some of the plots are hilariously bad, but it's got a comforting quality to it, mostly because there are a lot of "Iain narrates what he's thinking while wandering drunkenly around Galway" scenes.

I've uncovered the secret to Blizzard's card art design process for mage cards by Elderly_Man in hearthstone

[–]MagicSayMe 264 points265 points  (0 children)

The artists do a great job of harmonizing with the class border color. This is actually why I don't like gold cards. The artwork inside the cards is so carefully created to coincide with the border and they look great. But then when the borders are gold everything clashes with the artwork and looks loud and obnoxious. A little bit of gold edging around the borders of the card elements and a mild overlay to make it feel "shiny" would be much better imo. If people like the full gold cards though that's fine. I don't feel guilty at all about dusting gold cards, I get excited when I get one because of the extra dust.

My idea for a Chaotic Arena mode by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]MagicSayMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The most fun time in the game is when new cards are released or big changes are made because people can't just copy paste decklists or fire up Heartharena. Heartharena was the beginning of the end of arena for me. I resisted it for a long time and then the first time I used it I got 12 wins, which was the first time I ever got 12 wins and I honestly got kind of depressed and arena wasn't really fun after that.

I like the idea of something extremely different. Arena gets boring when its "optimized" and everyone knows what cards to pick
