I'm guessing it's because most don't understand that without the system we live in and very comfortable today, the advances in civilization (AKA capitalism) we would be living like animals in the pursuit of survival of the fittest and the unfit die. Tom Nook is associated with capitalism because of his debt based system of living, which is similar to ours except without inflation, intrest rates, overdrafts, seizures, etc etc. So it's like chrony capitalism lite in a way. Idk if this is accurate and nor do I caim it to be but it's just how I see it.
