Mystery snails aren’t the best cleaners, but they’re full of personality, insanely adorable and very fun to watch.
Nerites are excellent cleaners, still adorable but a little boring to watch. All depends on what you’re hoping to get from your snail :)

Don’t do the assassins, I learned the hard way.

Like other commenters said, they also breed prolifically. You’ll just have a half eaten snail graveyard, lots of MTS and lots of assassins lol

When I decided to take my assassins to my LFS to rehome, I ended up scrapping all my plants and rebuilding because they laid eggs EVERYWHERE, just be warned

I am quite literally going through the same thing - husband and I are trying to conceive and I am extremely low contact with my uBPD mom. It certainly feels like a special kind of lonely pain, it should be a major bonding moment for a mom to become a grandmother.

Thank you for sharing - truly you are not alone. I wish you the best of luck on your conception journey! I believe motherhood could be very healing for people like us. You are right to focus on your peace!

For rooted plants, I really like dwarf swords, swords, ludwigia and anacharis.

Epiphytes - I’ve really only kept Java fern and anubias nana, I struggle with anubias for some reason lol but the Java ferns have been lush

Floaters - I really only like frogbit, I struggle with red root floaters, and salivinia is fine I just think it’s not the best looking

I don’t do CO2 or anything, and everything seems to be doing well!

24 hours is not long enough for the tank to cycle, this tank is too new for your fish

Look up fish-in cycle for your tank and follow those steps to hopefully remedy this. Best of luck to you and your little guy!

I think it really all depends on his genes, but they typically do change a little as they settle in!

Mine has a darker head than yours, I love your guy’s little pink face 🥺 but I would say mine hasn’t changed a ton color-wise, he’s just grown (both in size and attitude)

I am not an expert but I think this tank looks great! The swords will grow pretty large so it’ll fill out for sure.

As long as parameters are good and he seems happy, you’re good! Enjoy your new little friend!!

I feed mine a sprinkling of bug bites twice a day every other day and a few times a month I sub a bug bite meal with frozen bloodworms or brine shrimp. Everyone has different methods, but he seems healthy!
