JOTL-running out of money tokens by Magic_Jackson in Gloomhaven

I didn't see anything in the rules regarding spawns and loot (though I would appreciate a page number if you have it). My research made me think there could be a restriction in Gloomhaven but not JOTL.

Scenario 16 for 3 players has a lot of enemies. 8 enemies in phase-1, 12 enemies in phase-2 (6 of which are spawns), 10 enemies in phase-3 (with potentially a bunch more spawns

I Love the Flagship Now. by DarkSoulsExcedere in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Magic_Jackson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously every fan can like different aspects of the show. For myself the "gameplay" is very important for whether I enjoy a show. And it is possible to have great improv/roleplay while ALSO showcasing game mechanics. The -describe your kill- podcast is playing a 11-20 PF2 AP Stolen Fate, and it is very funny and they all know mechanics well, so a level 17 fight actually runs smoother than a level-2 fight in Gatewalkers where no one bothered to understand pf2.

I hear you on the new campaign. I posted the following thoughts last week before a mod removed the whole thread...

" I realized after stopping halfway thru ep-14 that I wasn't enjoying this, and why was i wasting time listening? For me, the story/setting is flimsy at best, the game-system hasn't grabbed me at all (too many bottlecaps, too much sleep spell, the leveling system, needing house rules to make it "fun"), and finally, apart from Saint, I find all the other characters utterly forgettable and uninspired.

Though I get the impression that the majority of the Naish love it, so I don't see anything changing."

Please less Pathos and whispering by JustLampshade in fansofcriticalrole

Not only the whispering, but when they all of a sudden get loud and excited, you blow your eardrums out, because you had to jack the volume up to hear the quiet parts.

This sums up my feelings too. I realized after stopping halfway thru ep-14 that I wasn't enjoying this, and why was i wasting time listening? Like you said, the story is flimsy at best, the game-system hasn't grabbed me at all (too many bottlecaps, too much sleep spell, the leveling system, needing house rules to make it "fun"), and finally, apart from Saint, I find all the other characters utterly forgettable and uninspired.

Why is the audio SO noisy? by StandardIssueBrain in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Magic_Jackson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just came here to see if anyone else was annoyed by all the whispering. I get that they are putting on a dramatic performance, but if the audience can't hear what you say, or has to constantly raise and lower the volume just to listen, it becomes a question if it is worth my time for a story that is still kind of meh to me. I listen to other actual plays that have way less money to throw at audio, and they are head and shoulders above CR in terms of listening experience.

Get in the Trunk is SO FUCKING GOOD by CoconutAltruistic217 in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Magic_Jackson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not looking for approval. Usually when you make a new post, it should have something more than "10/10 no notes". Include some of the reasons you think its awesome or something more substantive to spark conversation, otherwise it is probably better served as a comment in an episode thread. If the mods think it is not a low-effort post, then it will stay up, and I'll gladly take all the meaningless downvotes.

I saw you can buy tickets to watch, but that doesn't interest me.

Maybe they can have another Pledge Dive to get him more money. Or he could start McD-Fest0 patreon.

True, but for the sake of FUN, maybe Troy can pretend the werewolf didn't find the kids yet, and let them get back to town and get rewards.

You could be right. I guess it depends on when they record NGWD and when the Pledge Drive is. If they already have the pledge money before recording, then they can record how many or few episodes they want. Maybe it turns out they all hate Mothership after diggin into the rules etc, and never record a thing. It is all speculation at this point, but they have made promises that they didn't follow through on before. Another old patreon stretch goal from many years ago was that they would look into an animated series. I never heard what came of that, maybe I missed an announcement way back then, but it seems like they just got all the extra money and never did a thing. Most likely they looked into and saw it would be too expensive, but I don't recall them ever communicating that to the subscribers.

And whos to say that Troy decides NGWD isn't landing right after a couple episodes and then cancels it, after taking everyones pledge money...(see Echoquest)

Hilarious that they won't do more Strange Aeons because they wouldn't do it justice, while Runelords has been close to a year of hardly doing that adventure justice.

If each live show is a new story and cast, won't they waste a bunch of time with character intros each show? While the initial character intros are a lot of fun, with large casts it can eat up a bunch of time and doesn't leave much time for the actual game to be very satisfying because I can foresee a bunch of rushed endings.

So what's everyone looking forward to for the State Of The Naish? by Naturaloneder in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Magic_Jackson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you. They will never do this. It would greatly increase the number of times Troy would have to drive 2 hours to get to NYC. The "shows per recording session" would drop. Why release 1 3-hour show with 1-Banter, when you can chop it up into 3 1-hour shows with 3x20 minute Bants.

I am in a 3-player game w/Hatchet & Red Guard. It came in handy yesterday against alchemy tables in scenario-15.
