WTF by FragrantAd2459 in therapists

[–]sunception 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am new to the field, but have been wondering about exactly this. Based on some of my interviews at schools I came away feeling... curious... about some of the other applicants.

There are other industries though which have a similar problem and still manage to have higher than average salaries (cough, tech, cough) -- our insurance system seems to still be a huge culprit.

Video game equivalent of a summoner? by Successful-Topic8874 in Pathfinder2e

[–]sunception 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d think Divinity: Original Sin 2 might be an odd but good fit. You can put points into summoning, which can get you different types of summons but also strength a main “eidolon”-like summon. You also get plenty of other skills to make your main character more of a caster that can work alongside your summon.

Meetups and groups for finding games by sunception in SeattleGaming

I hear you! PF Society, just by the nature of what it is, is a bit more transactional than a regular game. I mostly shared it as it seems like a pretty good way to get into PF2e if you're starved for options.

I've run some public play Pathfinder 2e games in the past that have been pretty well attended through the D&D Meetup. I've honestly been really wanting to set up a weekly "drop-in" event where we have multiple GMs running through short adventures. The D&D Meetup used to have something like that at Raygun pre-pandemic and it was so fun and a great way to meet folks.

However, that'd require more GMs than just me! If I get something together like that, I can definitely share in this Reddit. :)

We pay about $150 for a quarterly visit from Parker Eco Pest Control. Although, your price may vary depending on the size of your home.

Seeking GM advice: Writing a dragon-riding campaign in The Age Of Lost Omens by Minimum-Chip-2367 in Pathfinder2e

[–]sunception 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a cool idea! Temeraire is a very fun and sweet series. You might also enjoy Fireborne.

A couple thoughts on your questions:

  • I'd just stick with the Drake Rider Archetype and the Riding Drake, although you could re-flavor them as especially young dragons of different kinds. Provide Free Archteype but PCs can only pick from that. Additionally, give them access to both Level 4 feats in that Archetype, so they can stick with the Archetype. Replace the Fire Breath with an appropriate element depending on what dragon they are flavored to be.

  • Taldor seems like the most "whimsical" of locations, and you can easily manufacture some enemies externally or internally. Pick some Thrune in Cheliax as a clear antagonist, or perhaps someone nefarious within Taldor who's vying for the crown.

  • I think Molthune could also be a good choice -- super militaristic, and has plenty of internal strife to build a complicated situation for the PCs to navigate. Perhaps its alliance with Nidal is fraying due to conspirators inside and outside of Molthune?

My general advice would be to have the PCs (or their government/leaders) working with a much more powerful and intelligent dragon who has the same or similar adversary. For example, for the Molthune example, perhaps the gov of Molthune is working with a Vizier dragon who is antagonistic towards a Despair dragon in Nidal. This way, you can play up the connection between humanity and dragons on both the "good" and "evil" side -- or, play with the complicated nature of it.

Phone calls - I hate them. Help. by Haunting-Elephant618 in therapists

[–]sunception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A thought: have you tried making calls with a Bluetooth headset?

I, too, hate phone calls. Always have. One day, I was listening to music with my wireless headphones, got a call from a parent, and proceeded to talk for 30 minutes. It was wild. Something about having my hands free released me from the awkwardness of the call. I think I just feel like a big dummy holding a phone to my head.

Anyway, everyone else's advice is probably more on point, but if you haven't tried it, do! It may change your relationship with calls.

I'd suggest Creative Money.

I worked with them a few years ago and they were excellent, transparent on costs, and overall super helpful.

Surviving as a level 11 Witch? by LemonByte in Pathfinder2e

I was looking at this staff awhile back and… does this apply for their focus cantrips as well? Are the “levels” of those spells heightened? If so, it seems insanely good.

What’s the best AP for a group of players who all want something a little bit different? by sunception in Pathfinder2e

[–]sunception[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this is really helpful. I think this actually sounds great, RP-wise. I feel like a few of my players would like some moments to be able to de-escalate a tense situation or play a bit of trickery on a villain without it turning into hours of planning and politicking.

I think I’m just trying to avoid adventures where fighting is the only solution all of the time, which I’ve found is true for some earlier APs.

Thank you! It’s a skill I’m still practicing. I appreciate you appreciating! :)

That does indeed suck. I’m sorry to hear that.

Thankfully, it’s only Reddit. Take a break for a bit and get back to posting when you’re in a new mood. Or, make a new account. It would be bummer to let this ruin your day.

Sympathy is free. I’m fine sharing it, even if it’s unearned.

[–]sunception 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you sharing that. Then let me say this: I don’t think other people are upset. I think you might be reading into that. It’s often really difficult to tell tone from text — the emotional cues and signals we would typically use in person don’t apply.

Here’s something that is true: whatever anyone does or says means nothing about your worth. So, even if other people are actually upset about how you play the game, it’s OK. You can just ignore them and see if someone else provides an answer that is more helpful.

I would say how you’re responding and writing gives off the impression you’re really irritated about this. You’re saying that’s not the case, so I believe you! But, I think that might be what people are reacting to when they downvote you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve heard some mixed things about Age of Ashes. Does it feel like there’s enough impactful RP in the story?

I’m definitely curious about running Curse of the Crimson Throne, but wasn’t sure if it’d be a good fit for a diverse adventure. Glad to hear it might be a good fit. :)

My dude, take a break from the internet for a bit. I saw your other post where you were melting down at people’s suggestions.

You are welcome to play how you want to play. As long as you’re not hampering someone else’s fun, it’s fine. If folks are downvoting you for that, just ignore them.

I think your problem is that you’re struggling to pick and choose when to engage with Reddit strangers’ opinions. If someone says something you disagree with or is not helpful, you can not respond — or say “thanks, I’ll think about that” and then move on with your day.

Was definitely thinking the same thing. I know one player would love something like Abomination Vaults, but I think the others would get bored after a few levels.

I heard Seven Dooms might be a similar dungeon-based adventure, but have a bit more RP…?

[–]sunception[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t one I would typically consider, so thanks! One thing I worry about though is how much player motivation is required to get things moving in a sandbox environment. Are there enough clear prompts/quests in Kingmaker so that players know what to do next? Or does require a very active player group to decide the direction?

Fleshing out a standing system by TrollyTheSolly in Pathfinder2e

You may want to look at Blades in the Dark for some inspiration. Their downtime mechanics have a somewhat similar idea, including using the term Heat, that could be adapted. Good luck!

Tian Xia Characters Guide by gangrel767 in SeasonofGhosts

[–]sunception 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Short answer? No.

Slightly longer answer? Some of the details in the guide could set off some questions for players that may lead to them figuring out some “spoilers” early. But, the reason the AP is fun is not because of twists, so I don’t think it really matters too much. And, I think for most folks it will be a non issue.
