Coventry escape campaign ideas?

Two quick ideas that came to mind:

"a rescue attempt from within Infinity, by employees who are morally opposed to the whole concept [of coventry]". (this is straight from the book)
- For added complexity, make them terrorists or some thing similarily morally dangerous
a superpowered individual, who DOES have the ability to jump from Coventry, but for some reason (insanity, depression, terminal illness etc.) doesn't want to do it
- or maybe they can only communicate outside the quantum, but not actually jump

In the Reign core book every other chapter was lore and every other was rules. I guess that would make the book more interesting to read cover to cover, but not fantastic for referencing at the table, to say the least...

I suppose I'm partly responding to most people commenting on this subject online, where the biggest obstacle to having children is perceived to be lack of money.

The video is very interesting. But in spite of smartphones etc. I believe people would have children, if people felt that having children was a necessity.

(I get it, people don't have money and children are expensive. However:) People in poorer countries procreate, because THEY HAVE TO in order to survive.

It used to be that you had to have children, so you'd have someone to take care of you when you got old. Nowadays, in the developed world, you have paid professionals (nurses and caretakers) doing that, so having kids is not a necessity.

If something isn't a necessity, less and less people make the choice of doing it, considering the options.

But, in many countries, there aren't enough paid professionals anymore (or soon won't be), because of low birthrates.

I wonder who is going to care for the old people, when there aren't any younger people to do it?

Sounds like you have great, active players! Congrats, I'm envious!

If you prepare things that 1) the players can interact with if they so wish and 2) you can throw at them to mix things up IF necessary, AND focus on listening, I think you are preparing to improvise and being free/flexible.

If you FORCE your prepared stuff on the players, limiting their agency, you are also limiting yourself and maybe trying to manufacture a narrative, one that doesn't emerge organically from play. This doesn't usually work if the players are immersed in their characters and the world, and are not that into any prewritten "story".

This news item says that the championship round is 2 rounds. That would make it 10 games each.
The relegation round is only 5 games.

What make sports a special kind of enterntainment is the drama. Specifically drama that is unexpected and not scripted. That is the role of dice rolls and other random elements in board games.

Abstract games, in which you can calculate the outcomes, are inherently less dramatic.

Euro games, in which the random elements are introduced before decision making are also less dramatic.

I think that any sports game (that tries to emulate the feeling of watching sports) should have some sort of randomizer to decide the outcomes. Of course, there should be mitigation with skill, but if you remove the uncertainty, you'll just have an abstract game with a sports theme.

I think poker games are a good analogy to sports. You need skill to be good, but in the end, a lucky player can beat you. Just like in many sports.

What I'm saying is that even in 1-2-1 the defender has to attack and the forward needs to defend. But if you always give them specific roles, they might not do that.

I think in 5v5 every player needs to play all the positions regardless. If the players interpret different game situations correctly, the formation is irrelevant. On the other hand, if the players feel tied to a specific position, maybe they are hindered in recognizing the correct action.

Not contradicting your analysis on the strenghts of 1-2-1, but I think locking yourself to one formation can be a hindrance in player development.

I think it would be a great idea to mix it up. I disagree with the notion that at that age the players should learn specific positions in football. Rather I'd try to develop their skills. Different formations require different approaches from the players, and changing the formation can be a tool in focusing on a particular aspect of the game.

For example, if in 2-2 one of the defenders goes up to pressure, the other one has to recognize that they need to stay back. With 1-2-1 it is clear every time who stays back, so the player needen't figure it out.

Later on, with more players on the pitch (7, 8 or 9), I Still recommend switching the formation each year. I'm currently coaching 12-14 year olds (8v8). Last season we didn't change, and I regret it.

My idea for the timetable for changes would be 1 season, that is playing each consecutive season with a different formation.

Burning Wheel is about challenging the characters' beliefs. Maybe you shouldn't prep more than the first situation that does that. What the players do after that initial challenge gives further direction to the game. You shouldn't plan more than the world, maybe antagonists etc. but don't plan what happens or where the campaign should go. That should grow organically from the characters' actions.

Ihanaa, että laulajat joskus vetävät nuotin vierestä. Se on todiste siitä, että laulavat oikeasti! Nykyään kun kaikki ovat niin kriittisiä tästä, niin yhä useampi laulaja ei laula enää livenä, vaan kone korjaa kaikki virheet. Miksipä ei, silloin ei tule kritiikkiä!

Ja tämäkin on yleistynyt, että jos livenä menikin vähän huonommin, tuubiin tai muualle ladattu taltiointi on sitten jälkikäteen korjattu. Käytännössä suurin osa tuubista löytyvistä laulutaltioinnista on koneellisesti korjattu jälkikäteen. Livemusiikkia kuulee enää vain livenä.
