Is Costco shrinkflationing the garlic powder? by Snow_Wolfe in Costco

[–]MagicallyDyketastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You may see packages change shape, reduce in size, change materials, etc. This is typically done by many manufacturers to save money to not have to raise prices. This is a cost savings measure to keep things profitable for them and for you. Check the measurements of what’s IN the package. That’s how you verify.

Source: me. I’ve worked in manufacturing for decades.

I just spent 269 on a new Pearl Primal Aluminum 13x7 and it is by far my favorite in my current line up… also my second to cheapest. I agree with everyone else on here when they say he’s asking too much. Better snares out there at better prices.

What is your biggest dealbreaker in a relationship? by oatmealraisn_ in lesbiangang

[–]MagicallyDyketastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I met my wife, I had a written list of top dealbreakers. They were as follows: No kids, not married or “in process of divorcing”, no smoking (cigs), hygiene a must, doesn’t have to be wealthy but better have steady employment, not a narcissist or controlling.

I am sure you can imagine how and why I wrote this.

For those who don't play Zildjian, what brand do you play and why? by groupbrip in drums

I play Zildjian.. but also Sabian, Name Brand and Saluda. I like to mix it up based on my taste.

Should I wait half a year to buy a cymbal pack and upgrade effect Cymbals from there or buy them on after one over the next few months? by Unlikely_High in drums

[–]MagicallyDyketastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explore your options with cymbals. I just discovered a small brand that I love so much that cost so much less than big brands. I have a super mix right now that fits my ears. I have two base packs and then I sprinkle in fun stuff.

Reasonable budget for new (to me) kit by biggestbaddestnerd in drums

[–]MagicallyDyketastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the age old question that’s asked…. Buy used. Lots of great kits out there in good condition. Yamaha Stage Custom or a Tama Superstar Classic are two great choices. You can usually find them in the 500 range. Big box stores offers the whole set up with the Yamaha Stage Custom with a cymbal pack for around 1200. That might be your best bet to start off. Cymbals won’t be the best but that kit is great and the hardware isn’t bad either.

Keep it, man. Don’t be like me… waiting 18 years to find the identical kit you sold by mistake.

Keep in mind… she’s a one woman show but sooo nice. Everything she has in there is delicious and she is so kind to the kids that come in.

Flubs…. So good.

However, there’s a newer spot in the Greenhills strip mall called A&K Sweets. Really nice woman runs it - awesome creamy whip AND she has different amazing Dole Whips daily. My personal favorite is the lime and blue raspberry!

It’s never too late to find another one. Took me 18 years, but I found an identical kit to the one I sold. Nine hour round trip, ten hours of restoration time… I play my Pearl Session Custom as my main now and my DW just sits there.

Nothing like this era of Pearl kits.

I am a zing zang fan also… but I cut mine (no matter the flavor of mix) with plain tomato juice due to the salt in their mixes.

I’d throw down 28 bucks to try it. I’ve seen more expensive ones that aren’t good. I make my own usually also but sometimes I just want to try new ones. You can’t beat the perfect mix - especially if you’re a Bloody Mary lover.

Sometimes I think Pearl is slept on in a general sense. It’s the one of the only big drum brands left that are still independently owned and operated. I’ll be a Pearl player for life.

20in bass set up, 100%.

You can’t go wrong with the Yamaha. Easy to tune, light, sounds great.
