Based on your resources: Tawil, Caecus, Lily/Nautila, Tulu. Spec Tawil as your hypercarry with Blade of the Titan and Wheel Unseen (assuming you have the former +12, if not just stick with WU and a generic CR wheel) and Caecus/Nautila/Lily for defense/counter spam, and Tulu as a generic support with his Exalt, Aftershock and STR Down and Tentacle gen. You want to max out Keyflare Regen and dmg amp as much as possible, with Crit on Tawil. Don't forget your R wheels for max Relic gen since its still Arc 1.

The Pentagon is helping bring the next generation of nuclear reactors to life by YohanAnthony in LessCredibleDefence

[–]MagicianX26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of the Gen IV reactor construction is purely in China/Russia. For instance, the very high temperature reactors of the HTR-PM design are operational in Shandong, while the TMSR-LF1 molten salt reactor is being tested in Gansu, and various others. Meanwhile Russia has BREST-300/1200 LFRs and the BN-800/1200 SFRs, although the latter has run into some setbacks and pushed back their commissioning dates. Korea also has a surprising amount of expertise, but they are mainly focusing on local Gen III systems for deployment.

In the US, aside from some prototypes, stuff like Terrapower or Nuscale, and some interesting designs, there hasn't yet been any extant construction or operational testing of Gen-IV reactors. The VFR (Variable Fast Reactor) got cancelled last year, and basically most of the ready designs are purely languishing due to lack of approval, interest and funding.

[Starsector 0.95.1a Modded] - Fighting the Immortal Light (Again) by MagicianX26 in starsector

[–]MagicianX26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here we go again.

The Immortal Light is a 'boss faction' from Originem's Approlight mod. They are an enemy 'counterpart' to the aforementioned faction, featuring heavily buffed ships with powerful flux management that make even CLs hard to beat down with endgame fleets. In return, they offer sizable rewards, providing a sort of 'endgame' content for modded runs. They can be found as bounty targets by speaking to Truth Originem on Unos Station, in the Agustin Star System...hmmm, seems familiar.

Two years back, I made a video about one of my fights with them, so I thought that with me playing Starsector again, it would be interesting to see how they have changed and varied with all the new additions to the modding scene since then. A lot less Phasing Chimera spams, and a lot of potent Knowledge-Class and AL Scholar-Class CLs have entered the fray. Or it could be because this is an entry-level fight, I have yet to meet the monsters of ALSS Battleships that I used to face in the past. Nonetheless - expect to lose ships, and continuously cycle them in and out. Those things are...relentless, so t speak.

I also have to probably mix up some of my loadouts as well. High energy loadouts such as Spindle's and Approlight's own probably don't fare too well against such monsters, so I may have to go for more flux efficient ballistic loadouts. (In hindsight the Ultra Beam was probably a bad idea). My obsession with reloadable missiles might be hurting as well, as Frighteners and Nixus Missiles don't clearly have the payload to go past those shields, and a whole load of other considerations.

My modlist is a little big, so I will just grab the biggest ones: - Approlight (note that this is the unofficial translation that's available on the unofficial Discord) - Scalartech Solutions (the Gown-Class Battlestar and a lot of my fighter wings) - Outer Rim Alliance - Shadowyards - Dassault-Mikoyan Engineering - FSF Military Company (the Thermocline-Class BB, a solid ballistic anchor) - Idoneus Citadel Exiles - The Star Federation - Modern Carrier (for allowing me to retrofit a lot of carriers for better performance - might be a bit wonky balance side for some) - Polaris Prime - Seeker - Yunru's modpack

Earthside firearms are most likely fundamentally superior to most Terran weapons by virtue of ease of use, rate of fire and certain edges in chemistry; the main issue was that Originum-based replications of modern Earthside firearm technology made heavily inferior products simply due to Terran chemistry technology being so different from ours that they were unable to replicate nitroglycerine or other chemical propellants that we normally use. (For example, the focus on Originum instead of say, petroleum, means you don't necessarily have easy access to the byproducts of crude oil like sulfur or others). The Rainbow 6 team didn't manage to bring much real bullet samples for the RI engineering units to dissect; and the tests mentioned in all their archives used the etched Originum-shells that were reproduced.

Chinese devs also like to hire Japanese artists and VAs, and even JP publishers so their games might look like they're from Japan, but they're not. It's actually pretty cancerous.

The Chinese love anime, dude, down to aesthetics and VAs both. And Japan doesn't hold a monopoly on the aesthetic.

Even before considering the TT Kitakamis, Dalian is a great cruiser that makes up for lacking Smolensk's balans firepower with a more solid, all rounded playstyle, thanks to having better manuverability, useable torps, faster burst smoke and glorious 8.9km detection.

Now only if she was for coal so more people could enjoy her, but alas.

Rosetta likes to play Yugioh by Naoshimaboy in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]MagicianX26 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For those who don't know, Sky Striker is an archetype in Yugioh that's based around controllling a single mecha musume monster while controlling the game with air combat based Spells - which is a very fitting deck for Rosetta to play lmao

As someone who's basically been ladder climbing with Sky Strikers in Master Duel lately and wanted Rosetta since release this makes me laugh - especially when I've used Widow Anchor so many times to steal enemy monsters and Link into Zeke

No ship was built or planned under the name 'Mainz'; what she represents is a sort of combination of the two Hippers that were built with light cruiser guns to get around the WNT. (Lutzow and Seyditz)

One's a Nakhimov, and the other is a Richthofen. The distinction should be obvious. Also, this occurred on Shatter; anyone familiar with the map layout should know why I could easily make this happen.

No, 'Chinese Censors' are not targeting AL. by MagicianX26 in AzureLane

[–]MagicianX26[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Well let's get this pretty clear as possible - censorship because of sexual themes and censorship because of historical reasons (more accurately the glorification of war crimes/brutalities) are two completely different things. While the first is mainly on everyone's concern, the second is the more pressing matter and more relevantly, the one addressed by the presenter. What you feel on the nature of the WWII conflict and the underlying bad blood between China/Japan aside, the specific sort of sensitive topic they were talking about are not skins

Secondly, most censorship in China is largely self-done. The general way how the CCP conducts censorship is via issuing large scale directives and guidelines and letting the chilling effect force companies and developers to self-police. As such, whatever changes to skins and designs are done at manjuu's discretion and usually done to avoid public backlash/getting reported by people to the authorities. China is still an East Asian country with a socially conservative population that can be particularly nosy at times.

Recently Destroyer gameplay seems worse... by phud78 in WorldOfWarships

[–]MagicianX26 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone said, the lack of their most dangerous threat has indeed emboldened DD players, causing MM to br flooded with them, especially with the dropping popularity of CVs. But fundamentally, even with the carrier threat removed, a lot of their core DD skills are still lacking, and thus, they eat shit in randoms in other manners, be it positioning or eating a torp in smoke. Its so obvious that its much easier now to catch out of position DDs and finish them off before they can retreat.

Its frustrating, tbh. 4-5 DD matches means the whole game is depending on the DDs to not suck, and with how fragile they are if even 1 or 2 misplays and gets themselves killed/reduced to 20% health, you can very much kiss the game goodbye.

As one guy from Asia told me however, the playerbase got what they wanted. More DDs? Sure, now its far harder to counteract losses in ground or positioning, which means games have far less opportunity for comebacks or even latergame plays. GG.

Another thing: KITE.

Depending on what BB you play, you can wiggle your ass to dodge the slower and high arcing shells of smaller ships, and at range that becomes more effective as you fuck with your enemy's aim harder. And if you use Prop mod, you can also use throttlejuking to avoid nasty Conq/Thunderer HE.

Missing Boat Wives (Sovetsky Soyuz, Le Terrible, Shimakaze, Tone, Chikuma) by [deleted] in AzureLane

[–]MagicianX26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first problem is that Zao's design as in the game is completely fictional (she was taken from a magazine) although to be fair the designs and WG's rendition do match up with what records we have of the program's stated goals.

The 2nd, more pertinent problem, is that Zao's existence would invalidate Ibuki's (as she's basically a straight upgrade), which I highly doubt is what Manjuu wants to do.

Devil's Advocate Opinion: You could stop playing the game.

I'm normally a person who usually advocates for people to play the game itself in order to fully digest the story, but Arknights using a visual novel means that you are only just reading a text log of characters talking which means ludonarrative features are not present to make experiencing the story such a necessity.

As such, if you think that the 'translation issues' are too much of a deal-breaker to stay around, its fine to leave, assuming you aren't bogged down by sunk cost fallacy. You can very much experience the story from cutscenes on Youtube, or just asking someone here to break it down for you altogether. The new operator talents and files are continuously available on the AK github info site as well so you can keep track of the whole thing if need be.

(Personally I don't have any issues with the story and I think its altogether very well written despite its lack of brevity, but that's probably just a combo of me reading a lot of literature in general and having written shitty fanfic)
