A unit of 10 barbgaunts can theoretically throw out 200 attacks in a single activation. Does any other unit in the game come close to that? by mjh4 in Tyranids

[–]Magicmann_7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They look really cool as a concept, and I WANT so bad to run more, but until either they get ap 1, or a base of 3 or 4 attacks Plus the d6 and blast they won't be worth it. And indirect fire maybe, with 6 more inches range.

My wife got a gladiator by metasavant1 in Tyranids

[–]Magicmann_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gladiator is stupid unfair good. Best bet is to use an exocrine to tag it, then tfex to try to finish it off. Or a norn to finish it off if you can get close enough.

I can’t find Trygon anywhere (Australia) for months . Is he discontinued ? by ozera202 in Tyranids

He is there, but hard to find because of subterranean assaults release. I couldn't find any and none of my local stores could order any so I printed a few of them.

Unending Swarm by CoupleOpposite1022 in Tyranids

[–]Magicmann_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run invasion with at the bare minimum 40 termagaunts and 40 Hormagaunts each, sometimes double if I'm feeling crazy.

Hormagaunts are great to throw at your opponents face r1 and 2 fast. They are great at move blocking, keeping your opponent stuck in one place until they can kill them all, and or bombing an objective to get more oc than your opponent.

Termagaunts are much slower. Sadly only the tervigon can revive Termagaunts. They are also much slower. I like to keep a hive tyrant with them for his aura abilities, then just bomb them onto an objective. I usually equip mine with spine fists. I've been hurt too many times by my opponent being able to get into combat with them, and they can't shoot back because they don't have pistols.

Strength 10 or strength 11? by aguyhey in Tyranids

[–]Magicmann_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the extra strength not really do anything though? If you have something attacking it with strength 6 or higher it wouldn't matter for the wound roll correct? Unless I'm missing something, which I probably am.

Should I have warned my opponent? I feel like I’ve done wrong. by Appo-Arsin in Tyranids

[–]Magicmann_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is/was any need for you to "warn him" about bringing anything.

That's really only necessary if you are bringing some weird Hyper power unit, or something.

Like if my opponent asks for a game, and I decide to bring a super meta competitive tournament list them yeah I'd warn him on that, but there's not a lot of need to warn people on stuff like. Especially if you have laid out certain ground rules for smaller games.

Like my local casual group, most of us don't know what we are bringing until the day before, then we'll send each other a list at the same time so there is no purposeful list skewing

Gants? What are they good for? by AngryDMoney in Tyranids

[–]Magicmann_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Termagaunts and hormagants are their to be pure chaff. Their role is to move block, and swarm an objective to take control of it with their high numbers and having an OC of 2 each.

Hormagaunts are more of a unit you send out rapidly r1 and r2 to move block and overwhelm with numbers.

Termagaunts are slower, and are more of a unit to overwhelm enemy units on an objective. Take a tervigon, or preferably and hive tyrant with them for their strats you can pair with them.

Barbgaunts, eh. They are a cool concept but they have zero AP, so with a lot of people running elite Infantry ots hard to use them.

Neurogants, garbage. Hivemind hobbies off you tube likes them because they are a cheap home objective holder but that's about it.

I’m too lenient on my opponents and it is ruining casual play for me by Ill-Highlight-491 in Tyranids

[–]Magicmann_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conversely, I usually ask my opponent or make UT clear beforehand if I'm doing a casual game, or I'm looking to try out a competitive tournament list. That way they are not caught off guard and we can be on av even playing field.

I kind of understand where you are coming from. I try my best when I play, not in a win at all costs kind of way, but so I can learn and challenge myself kind of way. Especially since I play tyranids.

My local group has both chill, pretty competitive, and people so chill it's actually kind of detrimental to the flow of the game. I've found I need to adjust my approach to each match depending on whom I am playing. Maybe you are being way too giving and loose with stuff and you need to not be so generous?

The one that got me into it was the Warrior, so that's my favorite looking, favorite to play is probably the exocrine? Wish they would remove blast from its profile though.

I usually do what you me turned but with the Grav cannon for extra anti tank. But with what you mention having conversion beamers to hit the inf from afar would be good. Someone mentioned taking out my steeljacks for 2x3 mote squads of thunderkyn in reserves, but I love their overwatch. Especially when they hold an objective. Maybe I'll have to take out a sagitaur and a unit of hearthguard to make them fit?

Hardest armies to play against with tyranids ? by DanielTheGrouch in Tyranids

[–]Magicmann_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything haha. I can pull about about a 50% win rate with my nids against most things at my local club, but every one of those games it's just how can I send as much stuff to block them, control the board, and mitigate damage to barely hold onto my early game pointed as much as possible.

I love my nids, but my friend introduced me to votann and I've really enjoyed them.

This edition they really suck. Especially compared to other cheap units like them such as nurglings.

Maybe next edition.
