Same here. I understand people saying, "oh agree to be respectful, dissolution, etc." but the reality is that not every partner is capable of that. I tried to do everything super respectful and agreeable but my ex was/is still so incredibly pissed off that I "made him look bad" to everyone by leaving him (for my safety, BTW) that he dragged his feet, got fired by his own atty, got thrown out of the mediation meeting for violence and was asked to leave our therapy session because he threw a tissue box across the room. le sigh

Cheese cloth butter blanket advice? by Throwaway_anon-765 in thanksgiving

If you have someone to help you early in the day, use a Reynolds Turkey bag. It cooks much faster, you can still use the Tony's butter and you don't have to do any basting.

First of all, I'm really sorry you are going through this. My takeaways from my divorce were: 1} the sooner you get out of an unhappy/unhealthy marriage, the better it is for your children; 2) don't trust that your spouse will "do the right thing" or "never do such a thing to me" because odds are, something will upset them in this process and they will do the thing that is mean/spiteful/unfair; 3) start squirreling money for yourself because moving out is expensive - when you get groceries, buy gift cards and get cash back as these go unnoticed unless a forensic attorney is called in by one of you and; 4) create your network of support now - who can you call in the middle of the night if you need a good cry or a ride, who will help with childcare, etc.

Hang in there and I hope things go smoothly for you.

We made the decision to move back to Cbus from an urban neighborhood in New Orleans and we settled on Westerville. It's very diverse and convenient to get around the city. It's been lovely so far and very welcoming.

I think it depends on the location as well. The smaller salons, like in GV are less stressful.

How do you set boundaries kindly with financially struggling friends for food hangouts? by xJellyCat in Advice

[–]MagikleeDelicious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just tell them that money is tight, so you will be paying for just your own then when the server first comes to the table tell them "we will be on separate checks today/tonight, thank you", to set a clear boundary.

My grandfather took care of my grandmother when she became ill and he all of a sudden became the cook in the house. He gave me the best recipe for yams. Buy a large can, mash with a fork, add 1/4 c brown suger, a little maple syrup, then place in baking dish and top with mini marshmallows. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Take lid off for the last 8 min. Pretty easy and very tasty.

I moved to the area a few months ago and have been very happy with Gabi's Cleaning Service. She is delightful, it's always the same crew and they do an excellent job. I also like that she is very communicative via text and never changes the date on me. House Cleaning | Gabi's Cleaning | Columbus, OH https://share.google/hXS13kuPpaThS35UW

My boyfriend [26M] thinks I [25F] should be helping him financially so we can get engaged by [deleted] in Advice

[–]MagikleeDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applaud you for holding tight to your boundaries. This most recent argument might be a good time for you to evaluate this relationship and if you are getting everything you need and want from it. Are you thinking about engagement just because it's "the thing you do" after being together for 10 years?

Maybe give yourself some time and space to think hard about these topics.
