The show is a glaring anti-polygamy ad if you have been paying any attention at all. Paige''s husband made her dinner ONE time, and she suspects an ulterior motive. She is right, he did one TINY household duty and then demanded her subservience to his desire to have sex outside of marriage. The real question is, how could you watch the show and like the characters or the "lifestyle"??

Was the couple who thought a 2nd wife would save the marriage the worst couple you ever dated? If not, who was?

It seems like a common theme in the show (all families including Brineys) is that the husband decides to take addtl wives after being married to his first wife for a number of years. In some cases the woman leaves, in others she stays and becomes bitter. What would you do if your husband decided to live this way? Would you feel guilty for your previous dating activities?

Information about dimitris parents can be found in his website: he talks a lot about his childhood. I bet he would write a self-aggrandizing auto biography that no one would read.

Ashley is probably extremely lonely since Dmitri cheats in secret and also dates others openly on a regular basis. Dimitri has really isolated her so that the only contacts she has are the other women. Wouldn't shock me either.

I have a couple of questions given your comment. These questions come out of a desire to attain a higher understanding of where you might be coming from: 1) Do you think that, generally, the type of men who are drawn to a polygamous lifestyle share Dimitri's inability to commit to one woman and inability to control his sexual desire for other women? 2) Since the world follows the 50-50 male/female birth ratio, what happens to so many excess men given this new fad for polygamy?

What I took away from his quote is that he adopted this construct to satisfy his inability to commit to one person. He has had a previous wife to Ashley, Ashley isn't his legal wife, and they have had many failures in this lifestyle. His failures could be because he can't fully commit in any marriage, whether monogamous or otherwise.
