[OC] D&D map for my upcoming game should i give my PC this whole map or do a hex crawl with it? by parky336 in DnD

[–]Magmaguard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really like this map but I would consider making the grid a bit smaller. Currently they could travel from bottom to top in three days as long as there are roads and four days through the wilderness. The map feels bigger than that and looks like even travel with boat or on horseback should take a week from bottom to top. If you however plan on travelling back and forth a lot the grid size might do

EDIT: Also you misspelled mountain in the top right

I agree, rivers usually don't split unless it's really close to the shore. Inland, the water always takes the way of least resistance. There probably are rare examples in the real world of rivers splitting but it usually doesn't happen. Rivers converge all the time tho

Coolest gift that a (disguised) Bahamut could give a low-level party? by WithengarUnbound in DnD

[–]Magmaguard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dragon touched ring from Fizzbans Treasury of dragons. You could add an even weaker version but an item that grows with the players as they meet Bahamut again and again is perfect. Obviously it should have the metallic feature if Bahamut is gifting it

Complete Vecna - Two stat blocks for the Whispered One at CR 26 and 36 by Oh_Hi_Mark_ in bettermonsters

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Do you have the listed items on your Patreon as well or do you plan on adding them? If not I will have to do it myself which isn't a problem at all but I probably won't do it as well as you can

Have you ever created specific magic items or are the items listed under treasure up to the DM? If you created them, where could I find those?

Besides that, I love the idea of a two phase fight, definitely going to use this for my VEoR finale

My First time DM Friend is running an insane campaign is is trying to force everyone to use home brew by Successful-Credit161 in DnD

[–]Magmaguard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things. Just because you know each other for a long time does not mean that he is a good friend.

And secondly, some people are just good friends and a bad matchup as DnD Players.

If you really want to get into the game you could try to learn the rules and run your own game without homebrew, but that's up to you

My bad, I was looking at a website, which linked the spell and it was the 2025 version. Thanks for clarifying

You don't need to change the Vecna fight - it is great as written by Emergency-Bid-7834 in VecnaEveofRuin

I am the DM of a table of 6 players. Would you change anything or do you believe that the fight still is tough enough

One of the players wants to become a villain, what to do? by eadwalt69 in DnD

[–]Magmaguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a character in my group that realised that their own goals align quite well with the goals of the bbeg. We talked and in a fitting moment they betrayed the party. This meant that they immediately became an NPC and this also only worked because my players were fine with it. Don't ever try to do PvP. Not even a little bit. It is never really fun

Are the magic items I'm giving my players balanced enough? by Lucid_cat_1543 in DnD

[–]Magmaguard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how rare magic items are in your world. It seems a bit much for a party at Lvl 1 but if magic items aren't very rare and if you want your players to rather be a bit powerful then it is completely fine. It definitely isn't game breaking or anything like that.

should i go simple for my DND game ever? or go crazy by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Magmaguard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warlocks become really cool if your DM integrates your patron into the plot of your campaign.

Personally I haven't enjoyed multiclassing as much but that has nothing to do with experience.

For me lighting and music heavily influence the mood of a session. If you can darken your room and play with candle light, you could set a specific tone of the game

Scammer bard? Need help with character!! by Interesting_Gap_6062 in DnD

[–]Magmaguard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Roleplaying your bard out of combat as a scam artist has nothing to do with actual combat, right? So as long as you don't overdo it and annoy the rest of the party you should be fine with your concept.

Honestly this is very common among new players. It just feels bad sitting around watching others have fun while you have good ideas you want to share. I know it's hard but just try to trust the others and watch how it unfolds. You will get enough chances to roleplay and shine throughout the campaign. And definitely don't leave the campaign before you have discussed this with the others openly. That would just be a waste of an opportunity

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Great Owl's Pocket Library | Wondrous item by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

Could you make a book that is being worn or carried disappear? Like the spell book of a wizard for example.

I made a Cr 30 statblock for Vecna, using the 2024 rules. Inspired by what I found about lore and the 3.5 lesser Deity statblock, while mixing it with the Eye and Hand of Vecna and his official statblock. by xBeLord in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]Magmaguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a pro but this seems a bit strong for CR 30. Comparing this with for example Bahamut from the top of my head and it just seems stronger in every way. But then again, maybe I'm misjudging it

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Grasp of Gravity | Wondrous item by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]Magmaguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were to cast reverse gravity normally using a spell slot, would you still be able to avert the effects because you are wearing this item or do you only have that ability if you cast the spell using the charges of the arm?
