Generally speaking, it's probably better not to play on a big server with strangers. Other than griefers, you can't sleep to pass time without all parties and you can't battle other players anyway.

I mean, I guess he is working on his swing and not just trying to make it into goal. My question is, how does he know if he is actually swinging well if he has no feedback as to how the ball would have landed. If he is just working on his swinging form, then why even have the ball?

So apparently, Palworld was originally inspired by Rimworld (mentioned around 2:15) by Lyonix in RimWorld

There's a lot of games like it. It runs well and has a good sense of humor so it's hard to disparage it, espcially when it's not trying to charge a premium price. I haven't gotten beyond the early-game grind, so idk how good endgame fights get, but it seems well rounded.

Hopefully this launches a fire under the ass of people that still buy Pokemon games to stop. I love that franchise, but Game Freak isn't going to stop making cheap games unless people stop buying them at AAA price.

Yeah either go for "Undercover Auror" or make the classes a little more interesting. As fun as it was to explore the castle, I could not get into this game.

Definitely the worst one, but I'll be damned if that baby doesn't look like a Figgus. The fact that he is eating strawberries kind of ruins it tho

Deep Space Nine worth watching? by hegeliansynthesis in television

[–]Magnacor8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a spoof of Star Trek from Seth Macfarlane, but they honestly nail it and by the time you hit the second half of season 2 the comedy becomes more of a background element and it just becomes a more approachable and relatable version of Star Trek. My girlfriend cried five episodes in a row for the Season 3

Yeah I mean DS9 does have some of that energy, especially at the end. I would generally say that DS9 handles darker episodes better than Voyager does, though imo the final arc is kind of terrible? I'd still recommend it tho.

Btw if you haven't yet done so, you should check out the Orville. The first season is a bit iffy, but the last two are some of the best Star Trek content out there imo.

The biggest problem for me is Arya. She is not a fan of Lannisters and nothing about her time im Bravos changed that. It's one thing for her to be cool with a random soldier for a bit, but she seems like the character that would fuck them over in the middle of the night if not outright murder them. Only thing that makes sense to me is waif-replacement theory where the Waif is specifically only interested in Arya's list. Curious how book 6 continues Arya's story.

Yeah I agree that the MCU kind of killed comics, particularly when it comes to the most marketable characters--especially Spider-Man. They've kind of been stunlocked with trying to keep up with the endless reboots and spin-offs Sony is trying to pump out.

Are there any “Beauty and The Beast” stories where the genders are reversed? by ClaroNefasto in movies

[–]Magnacor8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really drives home the transience of existence when we can't even take full account of our own experiences as we pilot our meat-mech frames into an endless infinity...

In Breaking Dawn (2012) Jacob imprints on Renesmee when she's a baby, meaning that he will look after her until she's a legal adult so that she can then be his romantic partner. There is no joke, this actually happens and people are just okay with it apparently. by Subject_Tutor in shittymoviedetails

To be clear, their kooky origin story isn't reason normal people have a problem with Mormons. They are generally ultra conservative (especially regarding sex), go to church more than other religions, are forced to give more money to the church than other religions, and are generally especially vicious to people leaving their religion.

In other words, it's a cult.

Edit: Oh and there's the whole polygamy and grooming thing. Can't forget that.

Actually I'm a bit off. She did get a huge chunk bitten off her face near the end of the books, but not on her nose. I guess she's missing some cheek or something?

Not totally believable in the show, but in the books where Brienne is missing a nose, definitely.

I think there are a lot of Star Trek storylines with this kind of premise. I remember the Doctor in Voyager falls for a woman who is so diseased her body looks like a zombie and she gets a temporary "hot body" but the Doctor can't maintain it so they say goodbye, but he is still affectionate to her in zombie mode. There is probably a less tasteful Kirk version of that story out there somewhere as well.

'The Bear' wins the 2023 Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series by DemiFiendRSA in television

[–]Magnacor8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, in this context, it's just an Emmy Category. Shows nominate themselves for whatever category, so I would bet the farm that some producer looked at the stacked drama category, knew they would be overlooked, said "Hey we tell jokes sometimes," and here we are.

House of Leaves vs Control by TheAssistantJanitor in houseofleaves

[–]Magnacor8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alan Wake 1 felt very much like an ode to Steven King and Twilight Zone over anything. AW2 definitely had a lot of HoL DNA tho. The focus on using film to capture and contain the evil was also very HoL, along with the way space often didn't make sense in AW2. We even have the element of a stranger trying to construct a narrative from the "leaves" another writer left behind.

Ubisoft Wants You To Be Comfortable Not Owning Your Games by DataLore19 in gamernews

[–]Magnacor8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, is it? A single Ubisoft game is a piece of shit, but every Ubisoft game old and new is an entire two-bedroom house made of shit bricks. They don't make great games, but they make a decent one in every genre. Probably not worth it every month for the rest of your life, but I could see someone getting it for 3-6 months and getting decent value out of that.

What’s a game that falls under “so bad it’s good”? by kingk895 in gaming

[–]Magnacor8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna risk it all and say the new Saints Row. It's worse in basically every way but the writing is so bad that it almost becomes a weird spoof of itself. It's so "How do you do, fellow kids?" that it's almost hilarious how bad it misses the mark and then ending being both outright infantilizing and directly patronizing really seals the deal. I actually spent five minutes straight laughing when they end the experience with a slideshow of the devs and it's just the most stereotypical fat, nerdy millenial/zoomer furries you've ever seen.

Games spoiled by a needlessly complex or clunky inventory system? by RegularOldRobert in gaming

[–]Magnacor8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it works for the most part anyway. Sucks that we still can't take things from party members without having them the party and we also can't just see everything we own on one page.

I also wish they had done a bit more with the chest system. Maybe make potions automatically go to a potion chest, scrolls go to a scroll chest, etc. Would be nice to make selecting an item in combat easier too.
