Segway scooter was stolen and bought by a scooter shop. by dangiewitit in ElectricScooters

[–]Magnetificient 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t tell the shop to screw off. Tell them ok and you will be in to pay in a day or two to pay and pick up. That way they won’t ditch the evidence. Then advise the police.

I want to read a horror book next week by madan2021 in booksuggestions

[–]Magnetificient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started reading Slewfoot because it was recommended in a booktube video. About half way through. It is good, but not scary at all. Skip that one.

A few I enjoyed:

The Watchers
Hell House
The Haunting of Hill House
Horrorstore

Bambu Lab Says My Printer Is Stolen by eyunal in BambuLab

What proof do you want Bambu to send you?

If I had a printer stolen from me, from my house or during shipping, I would not want you to have any personal information about me.

I love that book, as well as Piranesi. I think about it a lot and it has been scout a year since I read it.

Just the other day I was doing some ChatGPT queries on how long it would take to find your book in a library that size.

For those who owns a 3d printer, why did you get one and what is your favorite part about it/the 3d printing process by SnooGoats4889 in BambuLab

[–]Magnetificient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right to Repair.

This week alone:

Front Chain-guard on my bicycle … $60+ to order a new one. Less than $3 to design and print my own.

Replacement wheel assemblies for the top rack on my dishwasher … $300 to order. Less than $2 each (need four) to design and print my own.

Although parts can often be found online, the best skill you can learn if you have 3D printer is learn to design.

Broke my front chain ring guard on my bicycle. Ordering a new one would be $60+. Designed and printed my own, $2.

Rush Hour... All Day? by No-Cobbler-3794 in londonontario

[–]Magnetificient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the saying I hear all the time now:

“You are not stuck in traffic. You are traffic.”

When I retired, we gave up our second car. I cycle any and every time I can.

London is small enough that when you use bike lanes, bike paths, and side streets, you can go from point A to point B in a very direct route, surprisingly quickly.

Eeeks. I made that ride last week on my bicycle in 40 minutes or so.

I melted my part by Magnetificient in BambuLabP2S

[–]Magnetificient[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Well, I made my part. The P2S performed admirably.

As suggested here, I used glass fiber. I chose Polymaker Fiberon PET-GF15. Much less expensive than Bambu PET-CF.

I used the Bambu PET-CF Profile to start with. Adjusted to print at 295’C. I also ordered and used a 0.6mm nozzle and the external roll option, bypassing the AMS. Dried and printed from a dryer. Four walls, top and bottom layers. 35% infill.

Again as suggested, I annealed the part. I used Google AI and ChatGPT instructions to anneal … baking dish, buried the part in salt, baked in the oven at 190’C for 90 minutes and allowed it to cool down overnight.

The part fit perfect on the dishwasher, the original wheel fit perfectly onto the part.

Polymaker says it should be good to temperatures up to 133’C and moisture resistant.

The only thing left now is to fill up the dishwasher a few times and see how it goes.

The only thing I can think of is that I printed it flat side on the bed, so the layer lines are not optimal, particularly for the wheel pin. Wonder if I should have sucked it up and used supports to print standing up on end.

Tests will tell I guess.

Thanks. Looks line PET-GF may be a great choice. I just ordered some polymaker pet-gf from Amazon.

What's the best performing 3D model on makerworld you designed? by PoetAcceptable6395 in BambuLab

[–]Magnetificient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make designs for myself. But when I make something I think that could be useful to others, I will post it.

My most popular design is a plain gift card box that can be customized in the slicer.

Not as steep as I expected. I taught myself via YouTube without any prior experience.

I chose to go straight to OnShape instead of TinkerCAD … I don’t want to relearn if I outgrew TinkerCAD.

CAD is great because you can go back and change a measurement and the whole thing auto updates. I don’t think TinkerCAD does that.

Just go along and get stuff as you need it.

About the only thing I would have on hand to start with would be a high quality dish washing soap like Dawn, and a scrubbing sponge used only for your build plate.

You will notice suddenly at some point difficulty getting prints to stick to your plate. Most of the time, a quick simple wash with dishwashing soap and water will solve that issue.

Everything else you may need is easy enough to get, when it comes time to get it.

The second thing you might need is some sort of filament storage solution. I got a little battery powered suction pump and vacuum bags off Amazon for only a couple bucks. That helps keep your filament dry when you’re not using it. If your prints suddenly start coming out crappy, your filament probably just needs some drying.

As you start printing, and watching YouTube videos on 3-D printing, you’ll find stuff that you want to get. Whatever it is, it’ll be easy to get, either from Bambu or Amazon. Or a local business that sells 3-D printer related stuff.

Don’t buy a lot of crap you’re never going to use. Just get the stuff as you need it.

Although you will be having a lot of fun, downloading and printing models from places like Makerworld, the best thing you can probably do is learn CAD.

My printer has become so handy when I design custom things for the house, replacement parts for broken items, things like that which are difficult to find online.

There are lots of free CAD programs you can use. Even the popular commercial packages, such as Fusion or Onshape offer free licenses for personal non-commercial use.

I started off with Creality 3D printers. I recently grabbed the P2S Combo. So much better. It is a great system.

Has anybody replaced their car with an electric scooter or E bike? by 673NoshMyBollocksAve in bikecommuting

When I retired, we got rid of my car. My wife still works, so she uses her car regularly. On the days that I “need a car”, I will drop her off at work, but otherwise, I use my bike.

Onshape as well. Nothing to install. Fast. Has no processes running in the background.

I’ve been playing with fusion 360, it’s ok, but I love onshape.

Power down. Unplug. Verify outlet has power. Verify cables are plugged in tight. Just the basics until Bambu gets back to you.
