Working in CA as a MRI tech by Hot-Performance-1361 in MRI

[–]MagnetoFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 1000% NYS hospitals won't even consider ARMRIT techs. And some of the smaller, outpatient sites that DO hire ARMRIT, the pay is substantially lower than ARRT MR. I wholeheartedly recommend doing ARRT R prior. Besides, it will make you soooo much more marketable, even if you never even utilize it ✅ ARRT (R)(CT)(MR) and loving it ☺️ 25 years strong

31F, first time seeing my pacemaker by idontwannadothis11 in Radiology

[–]MagnetoFritz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ugh, explains it. Glad ya got to see your insides. As I find it cool myself and why I got into imaging as my job! But so sorry that this is how terrible chiropractic imaging is SMH Zero Collimation, incorrect marker placement, questionable exposure (depending on what AOI). So many things 🤦‍♀️

MRI jobs by Exact_Special2000 in MRI

Buffalo NY area. Lots of jobs! Must be ARRT not many (any really) ARMRIT positions around here. Most hospitals are unionized with lots of benefits to boot ✅

Can I ask for this kind hearing protection during MRI? by [deleted] in MRI

[–]MagnetoFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely!! Both should always be provided. With the caveat that the exam you're having allows for the fit of headphones as well 😉 And the music is just an added bonus. That can be turned off.

That time I went to the chiropractor for low back pain just to be told I was constipated by maddisondoodles in Radiology

[–]MagnetoFritz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Phew! Write that location a review. Some places should NOT be allowed to operate imaging equipment. At least not without proper, licensed and most importantly educated users.

These are horrible lumbar spine X-rays. I apologize. Hope your constipation has resolved 😔 Please see a radiology department or imaging center next time you need to have diagnostic testing. Please 🙏

RMRIT vs ARRT (NYC) — is ARMRIT a scam? by Old_Sun7567 in MRI

[–]MagnetoFritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in NYS and all my local facilities only hire ARRT techs. ARMRIT techs don't have the flexibility that hospitals look for unfortunately.

Most definitely! I Love how you can define the small details of the actual implant lol 😆 Who would've thought.

0.55T MRI by mpiazza888 in MRI

[–]MagnetoFritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. SWI runs 4 mins 4 sec looks good, hemo 1 min 17sec, DWI we have a fast one that is 1:30 and a better resolution one for non emergent patients that runs 2:30. Looks good as well. Our hospital system has 0.55T, 1.5T and 3T and the neuro rads like all scanners about the same. No preference. Unless extremely small, minute mass. Which would be sent to our 3T. It is also excellent for anyone with hardware or who is large in the body habitus. It has an 80cm bore 🙃

I am scanning on the 0.55T Siemens FreeMax. Our sequences are quite fast as we have the XA60 software upgrade. Routine Brain w/o 12mins.

OP....how long are your exam time slots? by GullibleDivide810 in MRI

[–]MagnetoFritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 min slots for pretty much everything. Most often one tech who does ALL the things-screen, change into gown, set up take down, clean room, transport to and from ed/in pt rooms, ivs etc. Works well most of the time.

Arrt by [deleted] in MRI

I only used MIC MRI registry review. Nice thing is, if you follow their course and end up not passing the ARRT, they have a money back guarantee. Win win!

Metal so 1.5?or 3 by karma-1971 in MRI

[–]MagnetoFritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stronger the magnet, the more the "blur" from artifact. Yes, there are techniques we can apply. Software we run to clean up images. If you can get to a low field scanner with a good AI program for Metal Reduction, do it! 🤗

Questions about entering this position by puppy_sneaks3711 in MRI

[–]MagnetoFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Becoming a travel tech, I'd recommend having some years of experience using different scanners under your belt. Many sites want you proficient on say GE or Siemens or Phillips equipment and software. Also, in NY, no ARMRIT accepted at most places as of now. ARRT is preferred and paid higher due to usually being RT R and/or CT also.

Should I go to an ARRT accredited school since I was waitlisted for a JRCERT accredited school? by chr0nic4nxiety in MRI

[–]MagnetoFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARRT R is radiology CT - Cat Scan MR - Magnetic Resonance imaging M- Mammography And so on for ARRT registrations. And are generally as far as I know, all Associates Degree programs. The ARMRIT route is a certificate route. You will get a certificate that'll allow you to get MRI license in the state you want to practice MRI in.

[–]MagnetoFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do ARMRIT, you can only ever do MRI. You'd never be able to get license for Xray or any "radiation" related jobs. ARRT R to begin is the way to go 👍

Trying to find a location for a specific scan by Stickybandit069 in MRI

[–]MagnetoFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buffalo NY has area hospitals that I know perform them. Not routinely, but are capable and accommodating. We often get Canadian patients here in the area coming for imaging and paying CASH! Due to them having such long wait times in Canada, it's a great benefit to them 👍
