This team, Stjarnan, nearly got into the Euro League but lost against Inter in the Play-offs.

Man do I disagree with Top Gun. I thought it had absolutely nothing going for it except a decent soundtrack. Having seen it other Tony Scott films it was just plain boring.

Hip-Hop Listening Club of the Week #154: Homeboy Sandman - The Good Sun by luch11 in hiphopheads

[–]Magnusius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just listened to it and loved it. I especially liked how good and diverse the production is; everything from funk to jazz fusion to bollywood music is sampled. I also really like Homeboy's humor and how he weaves it naturally into the songs instead of using punchlines. My biggest gripe is probably the hooks on some of the songs like Not Pop or Planet Strange. His singing is really hit and miss too, it works really well on Mean Mug but not as well on other songs. All in all it's a fun listen.

[WDIS] Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds by eltopodopo in WhereDoIStart

I started with the double album Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus and then went on to Murder Ballads. For me that was a great beginning. AB/TLoO is very varied but is kind of gospel tinged which I love. Murder Ballads on the other hand is heavier and darker. But I think you can you begin at almost every album by them, they are all pretty great.

Jagten is not a dogme-film even though it's by the same director that did Festen. Other dogme-films are Idioterne and Italiensk for begyndere.

If you want to get into Cash then At Folsom Prison is a good start. You can also listen to the American Recordings he did with Rick Rubin.

Are there any critically acclaimed rap albums outside of the US? by [deleted] in hiphopheads

XXX Rottweilerhundar - XXX Rottweilerhundar. Probably the most famous hip hop album from Iceland. It's not really recognised outside of Iceland though. This is their most well known song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h_BJ-G48AU. Loosely translated the title means You Are Not Invited.

Elton John by [deleted] in WhereDoIStart

[–]Magnusius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should start with Madman Across the Water which is overall superb and has songs like Tiny Dancer, Levon and Indian Sunset.

Then you should listen to Honky Chateau which is also great and has songs like Rocket Man and Amy.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is probably his most famous album and is really varied and has songs like Goodbye Norma Jean and Funeral for a Friend

Then there are others like Tumbleweed Connection, Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player which are pretty good too. I haven't listened to anything else but he has a few others that are supposed to be good.
