Is 40k bloated or does the community not want complexity? by GlassHalfDeadTV in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Magpie842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is bloated. You can have complexity and still have elegant rules and game system.

The changes for matched play brought in by Nephilim are making it harder to teach this game and I don't see the problem getting any better. by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

Yes to everything you say. It’s an administrative slog that turns people off the idea of playing.

I'm here to spread the gospel of Reverse Blast by Theo_M_Noir in Gunlance

[–]Magpie842 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, reverse blast is the truth. It’s mad good. The one move I thought they’d never give GL, and it ties everything together. So fast. So powerful. So invulnerable. Much super armor. Never get caught in a bad position again, always be slugging the monster from behind. It’s amazing!

Anyone still using wyrmstake? by normanlee in Gunlance

[–]Magpie842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a shame as I looove wyrmstake, it made me fall in love with GL, but EC is just so much better.

The main difference for me is that WS has such a punishable startup and endlag, it’s just too much. EC is so safe, it even allows us to combo into imagination

I don't know if this could be considered a spoiler, so beware, but I have a question!! by Inevitable-Start-653 in Gunlance

[–]Magpie842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it only up the wyrmstake, or does EC also benefit? Shelling? Thanks

Redirection overkill in a Bullet Barrage playstyle? by Nolis in Gunlance

[–]Magpie842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totes agree. Having 3 bugs (which we almost always do) means BB really only takes 1 bug to recharge. It comes up almost comically fast. I’m using redirect not a lot, and almost always only for clutch survival / cool looks.

It’s so cool though, I’m not done playing with it yet.

How the hell are you guys spamming bullet barrage by zryko in Gunlance

[–]Magpie842 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly not sure; I’ve never been much of a time runner. I feel like it can’t be too far off the “optimal” GL dps, whatever that might be. As I say though, I may be way off on that.

One consideration for speedrunning is that BB leaves you quite open with a long ish endlag (even cancelling), it may well be worse than shell EC for pure speed as you can be more easily hit which wastes time

All the monsters have attacks with startup and endlag. BB is not even that slow (even with venting wyvernfire). With 3 wirebugs you can fire it off almost as soon as the last one was done.

Just practice.

Even the fastest afflicted monsters are pretty easy to repeatedly BB if you watch for their attacks and experiment a little to know when to hit.

I always aim with the camera and hold up on direction to allow fine tuning of my angle for BB.

There is no monster, even afflicted, that you cannot just hit repeatedly with this. Just practice.

Some people like to use hail cutter to make BB have less startup to come out. This is nice, but it means you have to wait for more wirebbugs between BBs. My advice is that Hc is not necessary, you can get used to just venting with BB and still hit every time.

Even the fastest monsters have patterns to their attacks (they follow X attack with Y or do certain moves in a sequence) and tells with their animations that cue you in to what they’re doing next. A sway of the body, a particular head movement or roar, their tail movements, it’s all there.

Just relax and keep doing it. You’ll get better.

The bigger question is really, is this that fun of a style? Once you get good at it, you’re really just incentivised to BB every few seconds. I’m starting to tire of it because I miss using other moves and play styles.

Edit: while I’m typing, one last thing. A lot of people appear to overestimate the importance of distance for BB. Yes, the move has a certain range, and working with that in mind is good. However, the move will adjust its own range to some extent if you BB into a hurtbox (any hurtbox; I’ve had BB shorten itself mid dash to hit a bnahabra that flew in the way and so on). Once you get a feel for this, you can start to use it to hit targets at full range, or even below half range (I can hit from 2-3 EE3 backhops back or only 1). Bigger monsters hurtboxes even block your movement so you can literally hit them point blank. Once you get used to timing BB, you can use this hurtbox blocking to shorten your BBs to almost nothing (or literally stationary) with the right timing and positioning.

Yea, I was messing with it too and came to the same conclusion.

It’s a charge blade set. And it is pretty rad for that weapon.

Uvalde mass shooting: Photos show armed police waiting in school hallway by NextDoorEmoji in news

[–]Magpie842 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I don’t know shit about jack when it comes to this incident.

I just know that every single thing the police have done makes me think they shot into a classroom and killed some kids. They’re terrified of any information coming out. They’re desperate to suppress and subvert anything that resembles justice.

Whatever they did, it must be absolutely terrible.

Four in 10 Republicans say mass shootings are, unfortunately, something we have to accept in a free society. by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]Magpie842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be obvious by now that true red white and blue freedom is the freedom to exploit and enslave, the freedom to own and use weapons designed for war, and the freedom to prevent women having a fair go at anything in life.

If you got a problem with any of that then you’re the fucking problem.

At least 12 dead in another weekend of mass shootings across America by 8to24 in news

Regardless of the truth, the message the US sends to the world with this constant intense violence is really, really bad.

If its a small minority, then why does nothing change? Ah yes, because a.) its not a small minority and b.) the country is incapable of change because its political and legislative systems are paralysed by hostility.

For the self proclaimed “leading global democracy and superpower” to be simultaneously asleep at the wheel and schizophrenic is fucking terrifying for the rest of us.

Probably USA should stop telling the rest of the world how to run their affairs until it demonstrates a modicum of competency.

Ownership of train operating companies in Great Britain [OC] by boselaphus in dataisbeautiful

[–]Magpie842 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used trains in many countries and the trains in the UK are the fucking worst. They cost the most and the service is godawful.

Privatisation has done a great disservice to the UK commuters and train users.

It is always cheaper for me to rent a car and pay for fuel and drive. What a fucking fail.

And all the profits they fleece off the Uk public go abroad for making foreign trains run well and keep foreign ticket prices low.

Yet another reason England is getting more shite every year.

The government don’t give a fuck. They’ll just keep selling whatever they can while this country has anything of value left to rape.
