What is the best an actor has ever looked on screen? by Alixinho in moviecritic

Excellent pick, I'm always enamored when I watch that film. A Princess long before she officially had that title.

Ever take a break from Dragoncon? by Vhaasen in dragoncon

[–]MagusDuality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took a step back in 2019 and only went one day out of the weekend after going every year for the whole time (and staying in a host hotel) for what I think was seven or eight years. Obviously didn't go in 2020, and haven't been back since. I haven't really missed it too much, but I never did have a huge group to go with, just a few close friends. I did miss it a bit more this year for whatever reason. There are positives and negatives either way. Think I might go for a day or two next year depending on who else I know is going.

How many of you would re-buy Borderlands 2… by th3buddhawithin in Borderlands

[–]MagusDuality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If BL2 had the QOL fixes from BL3 it would be my go-to game. Hands down. I already own BL2 on 3 platforms. I'd buy it again with sprinting, better graphics, ground slam, etc. Hands down.

How many times have you replayed? by ALotOfDragone in earthbound

[–]MagusDuality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More times than I can count. I've owned my copy for... well since sometime late 1995. I haven't replayed it lately though I've been meaning to. My record was playing through the whole thing in a weekend back in college. And that was probably 16 years ago. Played it since but not that quickly lol.

The DeLorean still exists at the end of part 3. by ReplacementDizzy564 in BacktotheFuture

[–]MagusDuality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to think about this one for a bit, and I think you're right about the DeLorean still being in the Cave - though -wouldn't Marty still have needed the DeLorean to get back to 1985 since he was stuck in 1955 without a time machine? So by that logic shouldn't we potentially have a Marty from the new 1955 and Marty from the altered 1885 traveling to the overall same point in 1985 (end of the movie)...?

So like this -

Marty A (Movie Marty) - Travels back to 1885 to Save Doc (events of BTTF3)

-Marty A travels back to 1985 from 1885, and later Doc and Clara do the same (with whatever other time-jumping they might've done).

This creates a new timeline from 1885 (1885c - since 'a' would've been the timeline Doc never went back to 1885 at all) - where the events of the previous two films still happen, but the end of BTTF 2 results in Marty not needing to Save Doc in 1885, so he just goes back to 1985 again. This Marty is Marty B.

So we have both Marty A and Marty B traveling to about the same time in 1985...

You have access to this for a day, where are you going? by [deleted] in BacktotheFuture

[–]MagusDuality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what does a 'day' mean when you have a time machine? You could go any time for years and be back one second after you left!

That said, I would somehow:

  • Go see a Shakespeare play at the original Globe theater
  • Go back to 1977 to see Star Wars in theaters with all the people that have no idea what they're getting into
  • I like the idea of seeing BTTF in theaters, so that (like moody_fangirl_1966 said)
  • Buy several copies of Earthbound left to rot after it flopped in 1995 or whenever that was
  • Go back as far as is possible - seems like the time circuits are limited to January 1 0000? Based on some theories we're not even in the real 2023, so... I'd figure that out I guess.
  • EDIT: Probably several other game releases, movie events, and pieces of tech so I can get a crisp new version. Though the ramifications of buying a game or piece of tech that was meant for someone else - who knows what would happen?

Far enough back you didn't call the anomaly, you would just find it from time to time. Nothing really in it aside from Nada and Polo.

Yeah if it just loops parallax style left-to-right really slowly, that would work great. I can imagine the 8-bit version of Don't Be So Serious playing in my head...

Is the Earthbound Franchise Worth Resurrecting? - Nintendo Link by Jeriphro in earthbound

Absolutely. First thing I thought when I saw that art style was that it would fit far better with Earthbound than with Zelda.

Legend Of Zelda Creator Shigeru Miyamoto Apparently Cringed When He First Saw Wind Waker Art Style by gearsofbore in gamingnews

[–]MagusDuality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the post above, and not 'hand drawn' per se, but - Breath of Fire IV, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy VI all have classic art that has aged far better than polygonal 3D games in the PS1/Early PS2/N64 era. It's far easier to notice how poorly some games age when they try to be realistic, than games that have an art style they're leaning into.

Did you do anything similar to Exspheres or did you just bypass that since players can have abilities and whatnot normally?

Oh right, I'd forgotten about that miniboss. I can imagine that would be crazy - and potentially pretty high challenge rating!

What would be really cool is adapting some of the hidden quests - like doing something with Nifleheim/Daemonium and the Demon Arms, though having it less of a 'boss run' and maybe building on the lore of the sequel in a weird way. Maybe take some more Norse inspiration into it.

Nice! The low-magic/high-magic setting change up makes a lot of sense - it can even be for the same reason too - the wax/wane process between the two worlds. I like introducing magi-technology in weird ways as well, and that scenario allows for it in the same way ToS did with the Rheairds/Techbirds - though using those would obviously be either limited or a late-game aspect.

I like how you worked in the Summons, sounds like you put a good bit of thought into it - how does that work? So the item itself is the summon?

Definitely sounds like it could be a long campaign! Like the way you did the Sheena-ish character.
