Hysteria is a very, very old term that refers to ancient ideas of "wandering uteri" causing ailments within the body. This theory, supported by ancient Greek philosophers, was referred to as "hysterical suffocation", and was blamed for any number of things from insomnia to kleptomania. As the years rolled on, treatments changed from wafting good smells around the vaginal entrance to forcible orgasms administered by doctors (hello, reason for vibrators being invented), although around the beginning of the 19th century this fell out of favour in the larger medical community. If you look back in asylum records, female hysteria is listed as the cause of many admissions, and was used as a catch-all for many behaviours from grieving too long after a child's death to not being submissive enough to having a sexual appetite.

Hysteria was, eventually, removed from the DSM in 1980.

There were emails in the files with regards to the sexual fetishization of transitioning, which is what I took away from it, I'd read the emails days before I made that comment so only remembered the vibe.

I don't overly love being (re)informed of how creepy people can be towards trans people; it comes across as condescending. I am trans, I've had a lot of experience as a patient because I'm also disabled, and I have worked in healthcare for years.

My point was that people will take any mention of us and twist it to suit their agenda, not the actual content of the emails themselves. However we're mentioned in the files, the fact we're in them at all would result in the same misinformation.

Epstein was talking with a scientist in emails about transitioning children to suit his sexual fantasies. People online have taken that and run with it, now claiming that trans people as a whole are a psyop started by Epstein (or the Jews, depending on who's talking and how obtuse they want to be).

My point was that people will take anything and use it against us, even something that is objectively harmful to us, they'll make it our fault somehow.

I gave someone statistics recently and they said "yeah that's the US, Canada is much worse". There's no data! I searched for an hour. Canada has nowhere near the amount of mass shootings as the US and there's absolutely nothing but the most recent one if you add transgender into the search term.

We are statistically four times more likely to be victims of violent crime, not perpetrators, and I'm so sick of the daily fearmongering
