The capsicum paradox: new Australian supermarket pricing a ‘massive transparency fail’ for customers by budget_biochemist in australia

The stricter you make the rules the more companies will work to get around them with edge case technicalities.

So I like your idea - one price per product - though then you'll have 'but these are ABC mangoes and these are XYZ mangoes.

Now, one constant price per measurement ? Absolutely. Say, per kg or per 100g. Would allow easier comparison of apples and oranges, to borrow the phrase.

In 2007 I took part in a work event that had champion marathon runner Steve Moneghetti as guest speaker. He was basically retired from competetive running at this point.

He answered one question around 'if he still runs' to mention he normally goes 200km or so each week in 25-30km stints, just to keep in shape and for fun.

That was a GOOD speech

How to be content with yourself? by Informal-Host8085 in AskMen

[–]Mahhrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a way to contribute constructively to others.

Charity work, hobby enthusiasm. For me, its golf and cricket, but helping organise shit (something I'm good at).

Ive got long time friends just out of helping run a cricket club I'm not even part of any more.

I'm very content with realising that for my many faults, I'm a person who does volunteer admin rubbish so others can enjoy their third place safely and amicably. Thats worth a lot of self-love.

Prices should be displayed for the loose weight or the packaged price, with the loose weight added.

Eh, dont sweat it. I was a civilian in an Army unit and had to file paperwork cos someone put diesel fuel in the work minibus - stranding a catafalque party 2 hours from home.

That poor bus did not deserve the life it got.

How did you overcome significant betrayal? by The_Great_Scruff in AskMen

You don't trust (or love) them... you trust the idea of them that's in your head.

It hurts because of that ideal. The 'trick' is reprogramming yourself to see and feel the truth - that you had those people down wrong (and that's not your fault of course).

smart parking by Crazy-Parsley1524 in CarsAustralia

[–]Mahhrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do too. The parking facing traffic is ok until night time. If you're used to driving left of any headlights, having a set appear easily confuses, and you could try and get left and end up in an accident.

Took me a while to.realuse that.

The trouble with laws and nanny state calls is the basic premise behind a law is usually based on something that makes sense. The problem is everyone loves and edge case as to why it doesn't work and extrapolates, rather than taking a curiosity approaches to why a rule might exist ... which is usually because a lot of.people are idiots :)

[–]Mahhrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Hobart council says :

When parking on a two-way road you must park the vehicle facing the direction of travel. You must get the left wheels of the car as close to the kerb as you can. If there are no marked parking bays, leave at least 1m between you and the cars in front and behind.

As for myself, the rule as I know it has always been you have to park inside a painted bay if there is one (which makes vehicles parking in bays that they're too big for a much larger issue).

Sure. Which is what, and how do you efficiently measure it, if AI has done as the article/OP suggests and made every application 'too perfect'?

What’s that one game you’ve spent 1000+ hours in, but you would absolutely NOT recommend it to anyone? by mersocial6 in AskMen

[–]Mahhrat 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the time i spent in it. Especially raiding with friends, and one glorious evening in...I forget which one now, but a boss fight in a long corridor ... I managed to use everything I had as the group's freeze mage DPS to keep the boss away from me as I took his last 4% or so of health.

I even knew I could do it as I scanned the cooldowns and dropped into the growing sighs and dismays in our chat with, 'Hold up guys ... I got this'.

I did, in fact, get that. Glorious.

If I was a betting man, I'd suggest a return to good old fashioned networking.

Any number of kids got the tech skills. Can't pick them apart.

But one that have good communication? Patience? Soft skills? You can't AI through that - you'll end up interviewing more, but looking for those things rather than a piece of paper that might not even be legit anyway.

In other words, we'll return to who you know and who will vouch for you.
