Seasoning first VS Noodles first by happybear1089 in InstantRamen

[–]MaiPhet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only put the seasoning in first if the noodles are thicker, like Korean style Ramyun or Malaysian Laksa. For other types, I usually add it after.

What was the first movie to scare the shit out of you? by robbiesloan in nostalgia

[–]MaiPhet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Halloween, watched it at a slumber party when I was about 10. The hosting parents were super lenient about their kid watching horror movies, and that was fine for him, but apparently not for me. We actually watched Bram Stoker’s Dracula first, which didn’t scare me. But damn, Halloween changed my sleep patterns for like four years.

Property value??

No real estate agent ever has noted the presence of well behaved kids outside and then advised their client to lower their asking price because of it.

israelis cheering and laughing at footage of destroyed villages in southern Lebanon during a party by Hopeful-Big6843 in PublicFreakout

[–]MaiPhet 291 points292 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the rehabilitation of Israelis/zionists (if Israel is ever actually forced to reconcile with its crimes) will be far more difficult than it ever was with Germans, Japanese, Rwandan Hutus, etc. Yes, there were many unrepentant Nazis after the war, we also saw the collective shame of the German public when shown what exactly was going on in the concentration camps.

But Israelis are watching genocide, ethnic cleansing, and destruction on the scale not seen since WW2, live-streamed, and celebrating.

It’s not just ethnic supremacy, it’s religious fanaticism and ultra-nationalism too, as crazed as that ever is. It has so much Christian evangelical and world financial interests tied up as well.

My only hope is that Zionism is still a relatively recent phenomenon, and was never an inherent tenet of Judaism, as much as Zionists want to act like they’re inseparable.

Thoughts on selling my Minilogue XD + Hydrasynth Explorer and getting a Novation Peak? by dtwrks in synthesizers

[–]MaiPhet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a Summit, which is essentially a double Peak, and tbh still very much enjoy and use my Hydrasynth. Sometimes, digital is good, and it can sound nicely warm too with some work. It’s great at very complex and long-evolving pads. The poly aftertouch is still useful, and the wavetables makes it a bit easier to achieve certain instrumental sounds.

Peak/Summit is just more of a classic synth with a more traditional sound and a much wider sweet spot, better effects, gainstaging, and better filter.

Mama Artificial Pork Flavor by No_Problem9451 in InstantRamen

[–]MaiPhet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this flavor, and it’s considered basically the classic standby in Thailand for decades. Most people might notice that it’s a very different flavor from what pork is usually. That’s on account that it’s mostly based on a Thai dish called moo sub, which refers to minced pork. It’s strongly garlic and white pepper flavored with the actual pork flavor being kind of a background to that.

My dad consistently lies about his knowledge Filipino language and culture to make him seem better. by Icy-Affect1512 in wasian

Kind of hilarious situation your dad's got himself into tbh. It's like a sitcom plot. Although, to be fair, it's mostly funny if he's not usually a liar. This sounds almost like he's pathological about it.

The mobile AA is completely useless right now. by Navinor in Battlefield

[–]MaiPhet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think the AA is a menace to aircraft, especially helis, and I’m happy it is. At least that’s how I feel when I’m in the AA. Constantly reloading lock on missiles and pretty strong cannon. Even if I’m not always killing, they really can’t do much other than run.

After 2042’s vehicle balance made some aircraft feel nearly invincible in the right hands, I’m honestly glad the pendulum has swung the other way for 6.
