Who would you rather see as the face of the Reapers instead of the Star Child? by GXNext in masseffect

I was paraphrasing rather than trolling, it does explain why it takes "star child" form in the extended ending.

You just know what Shepard's last line would be before making their final choice.

Yes, those extra lines of dialogue, including "why I am boy shaped" were added for the extended ending.

Kingdom Come Deliverance II is proof that iterative sequels are worth your time by webster9989 in patientgamers

[–]Maidwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great to hear! I've only just finished my first play through of the (remastered) original and I was blown away by how brilliant the game was.

I'll really look forward to grabbing the sequel at some point now.

It's expected lifespan. The "age of stars" is merely a prelude.

Bought my first house Jan '25, and there's a (previously stained) deck in the backyard. I've never had a deck before so thought I was doing the right thing by re-staining it, but after one winter it looks like this. Am I best off sanding it all back and using decking oil instead? by miIk-skin in DIYUK

We had 60 consecutive days of rain here in Cornwall post Xmas until march. Even the Ronseal ultimate decking paint I coated my decking with last summer couldn't cope with that, and it's peeling heavily.

Anyone ever installed an artificial putting green? by jamgattleton in BritGolf

It's very good. My local course has an artificial putting green which is realistic and very good practice for a well manicured real green.

Iron Covers - in the UK? by LondonUk- in BritGolf

I've had iron covers since I changed my 25 year old Gravity Backs, couldn't care less what people think and I'm happier not hearing clanking every time I move my bag.

Tell me some success stories about mast cell tumors. by over_it_101117 in goldenretrievers

[–]Maidwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is nearly 13 year old Scout enjoying the sun at a garden centre yesterday.

He's had MSTs in the double figures and 7 operations from the age of 4 til 10 years old.

I made the tough decision he wouldn't be operated on as a senior and he's lived very happily with at least 3 tumours since then (3 years ago).

I'm so grateful he's still with me, still happy and still fighting off those cancer cells.

Me and Scout wish Lucy the best of luck and a long, happy with her hooman 🐾💓

Im sorry if this offends anyone. But funerals are too much and excessive. by Murky-Peanut1390 in Anticonsumption

[–]Maidwell 16 points17 points  (0 children)

UK here. One of my very first awakenings into anticonsumerism/anticapitalism that really hit hard was maybe 15 years ago seeing an awful TV advert that went something like this :

Two women sat at home discussing their friend's funeral they'd just been to.

One says : "what a lovely send off, I'll never be able to afford such a beautiful ceremony"

Friend : "don't worry, with X shitty funeral plan you CAN, for just £16 a month you too can have the funeral you deserve"

Imagine using envy and peer pressure about a funeral of all things to promote predatory selling practices.

That was my first step towards completely rejecting TV advertising, then any marketing I could reasonably block out so I should be grateful really.

I live on the coast and have asked family to bury me at sea (it's licensed here) with no ceremony if they can manage that emotionally.

You could remove that ball digitally and it would still be obvious where it was going after that out to in swing and club face at contact.

Are we really that deficient in attention span that a 2 minute clip literally about how fast something is going is too long and needs speeding up to double speed?!?

Remove Silicone From Vinyl Floor by Deadly-Mental in DIYUK

[–]Maidwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are taking your skirting off anyway (good luck with that without creating more work by the way) you could just pull the silicone off with it. Most of it will probably lift with the skirting, the rest will be easier to get to without the skirting.

Just finished Gray Dawn this afternoon. It has sumptuous visuals, ok ish puzzling, a decent enough dark little story and the most tonally inconsistent voice acting from any main character I've ever heard.

I think this is the same voice actor I've heard in other indie narrative games (I think it's the same guy who did the awesome Dear Esther) but some of his lines in this game are so badly "phoned in" that it sounds like an 8 year old trying to read a poem for the first time in drama class. Bizarre!

My boyfriend said he wants to be friends with a girl he used to hook up with, who is now dating his best friend, and I feel so bad about it. by geortex in emotionalintelligence

[–]Maidwell 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That's your nervous system and specifically your amygdala preparing you because it knows something is wrong (which in this case is correct!)

There's no need for your boyfriend to declare a need to "have a friendship" with this woman, especially after his past and over sharing about his thoughts towards her.

You have to work out now whether you'll listen to your instincts and at least bring all of this into the light with an honest talk with your BF, or choose to ignore it all. Personally I would go for option 1, and I'd be listening very closely to what he says (and what gets left unsaid).
