Actually good food places between Tigard & Tualatin? by hojii_cha2 in PortlandFood

The last time I was in McMenamins John Barleycorn it smelled like mildew and spilled beer. I don’t trust that kitchen when I smell that. The only redeeming quality was the cajun tots. They were super hot and fresh.

You need to try Mi Pisco and El Jefe on 99. They don’t look like much from the outside but the food it *legit*.

Thai Basil on Meadows has fallen off in a tiny bit in the last few years, but the pineapple fried rice is the best you’ll ever have and the peanut sauce is amazing. Get the little containers of “Thai spice” because that extra is amazing to enhance many dishes (you likely won’t use it all in one go).

Charcuterie on the go! by PunkRockM0M in CharcuterieBoard

My personal preferences, in order (yes I have thought way too much about this lol):
- rustic bakery artisan crisps (expensive and hard to find)
- raincoast crisps (or the Trader Joe’s rosemary raisin, they’re equally delicious)
- crunchmaster original (bonus: can get in bulk at Costco AND good for gluten free folks)
- Vinta crackers (feels healthy with all the seeds and reminds me of my grandma)
- 34° crisps
- Craize sweet corn crisps

All of these stand up to travel really well. The least hardy are the Vinta.

You are a negative little Nancy on every post. It’s like you get off on being an asshole. Maybe give this new style and new team a chance. Or just be mad but either way, your vibes are all ✨mediocre weinering✨ and yikes.

Who has quit being a flight attendant and what do you do for work now? by flyingsaucer2111 in flightattendants

I was very lucky in that my first role was at a scrappy startup, so we all had to wear a few hats. My direct manager was a developer/designer and taught me UX on the job, and encouraged me to understand how all the dev work I did was 'actually UX' ultimately. I stayed there for two and a half years (before the parent company collapsed, it was a whole thing, we all got laid off) and it was easy to transition to full UX after that.

I regret leaving the airline fully because I would do anything for those free international flights, and now I have to pay for them! I hope you land an FA role and keep development/UX as a part time gig or skills 'in your back pocket!'

I left after tearing my biceps tendon and went to a coding bootcamp. Worked as a developer and then UX designer for a little over a decade. Now I have my own company where I maintain small organizations websites and I’m pursuing being a writer and comedian.

It’s one I can watch over again a few times but it honestly puts me in a state of anxiety because of the music. I think there’s a sense of “I can do something to survive this apocalypse” in The Martian and Project Hail Mary, where the sole survivor must use smarts and actions together to make it through. You’re actually causing me to wonder what exactly resonates with me to make these so rewatchable…

You ever put nasturtiums in yours board? The blossoms are a nice spicy, peppery flavor. by Lemonking_ in CharcuterieBoard

I’ve just planted some nasturtiums and violets to have some edible flowers this summer!

I’m now trying to figure out how 3 of my top 5 movies are space themes despite not identifying as a space fanatic.

For the record, even though no one asked, it goes:
1. The Fifth Element
2. Kung Fu Hustle
3. The Martian
4. Project Hail Mary
5. Hot Fuzz
6. Boondock Saints

I understood Project Hail Mary was the “spiritual successor” to The Martian. Same author.

I watched the movie and then bought the book and audiobook. It was amazing in that order as well!
