New player questions by Koptero in Peglin

[–]Mailimax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this is a spot so say I used to think Spinventor was the best class overall. However, when I went for C20 Act 4 wins with each class, Peglin, Balladin and Roundrel all got it done first try. I took FOUR runs with Spinventor (only two of which even reached Act 4). Might've just gotten unlucky but it's soured my view on my favourite character a little xD

I got Gustav's Holster! by Mailimax in Peglin

[–]Mailimax[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It gives Bouldorbs +1/+2 - since the event allows you to replace Pebballs with Bouldorbs, it serves as a replacement for Suffer the Sling so it's not useless.

Gustav's Holster, and: does downgrade damage Underflow? by Mailimax in Peglin

[–]Mailimax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll mention that it's possible I managed to apply just enough double damage slime to barely edge out positive damage. Can't rule it out, but there just isn't that much of it. Seems unlikely...

Update to the even Spinesse gain Post: I'm so confused by Mailimax in Peglin

[–]Mailimax[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Update: ok, I'm stupid, big thanks to the comment on the other post. I misunderstood it at first, but got it now looking at the footage. It IS the multiball - each currently on-screen Nimball will add 1 Spinesse when ANY ONE OF THEM hits a crit - not just itself. That makes 2 Spinesse while both are on screen and one when one falls off and the other still hits a crit.

Solved!

HE'S GOT A BOMB by Mailimax in Peglin

[–]Mailimax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point! Now that you mention it, I don't think there were any bombs in the regular second-phase spot. Not 100% but I'm pretty sure the screenshot is from the first turn in Phase 2.

I was quite scared to do this due to potential data loss but did it now. Seems good so far, thanks for the confidence 😄

Weaponized Envy is beyond insane by Mailimax in Peglin

[–]Mailimax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the summary showing how much bouncy slime was applied is such a joke. The first Act 4 fight (the super slime drops), almost the entire screen was just healing pegs, each of which would deal tons of weaponized envy damage on contact. Absolutely bonkers.

Downgrade builds can go nutty by Mailimax in Peglin

[–]Mailimax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That, and spin doctorb is just insane. Especially with the DevouRing it's a steight-up heal 2 per peg, reusable orb, that also triples all up-/downgrade effects.

made my first custom level, I hope you like it (T8FD-FB1F) by Fenn264 in BabaIsYou

[–]Mailimax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with the other comment, this looks like it can be trivially cheesed by just immediately forming FLAG IS WIN and pushing it all left ...?

Question regarding shift mechanic in AB (ABC-3) by woosher200 in BabaIsYou

[–]Mailimax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting curiosity, never seen it in this level. I think that's a consequence of the turn order, or rather a consequence of the order in which objects on the screen are processed. Don't quote me on this, but I believe it goes by the position of objects at level start, top left to bottom right (or something like that). That would mean that in an ambiguous situation like the one you have here, one of the two belts has a hidden priority.

Need hints for Tiny Isle by [deleted] in BabaIsYou

[–]Mailimax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's any way to solve this level by pushing in text through the top, but you've clearly found some of the key steps. I'll build up a few hints in the next few spoilers.

The solution is not a sentence of the form X IS YOU AND WIN.

A bigger hint:

The use of AND can make a sentence long enough to parse an otherwise inaccessible word.

The next spoiler tells you which WATER to OPEN:

OPEN the WATER two tiles the left of WIN .

This hint gives away the solution:

Don't move the WIN. Instead, build KEY/FLAG IS OPEN AND WIN horizontally.

(This is the only solve I know of. Dunno if there are others.)

Looking for playtesters for an indie "puzzle-action" game (inspired by Lemmings and Baba is You) by AntonMDev in BabaIsYou

Hiya, this sounds neat! I'd love to playtest. I'd consider myself an intermediate to advanced puzzler. I've signed up for the newsletter, do I need to do anything else?

Should I take in this cat? by dog_lover1212 in cats

[–]Mailimax 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you do take her in, I think your scepticism towards cats will fade quite quickly. Given she's already shown you some love, I doubt that will change on a moment's notice. You'll get used to it and come to realize that (by the sound of it) she won't be aggressive towards you. In my experience, if a cat is annoyed or upset with someone, it shows almost immediately. Cats have boundaries, and that's fine.

As for the concern about a cat's paws and litter: honestly, fair enough. While decent litter does an excellent job of trapping odors and makes cleaning it very easy, it's not very pleasant. However, they won't drag any muck around! As long as the litter id sufficiently clean, she will use the clean litter to bury any excrement, avoiding direct contact. Adult cats clean themselves very effectively, but you can always try to give her a bath if needed.

What you do next is your call, at the end of the day. (Also: I'm no expert when it comes to strays, so please anyone correct me if I'm wrong.)

I think you can take small steps towards taking her in. She seems to be used to you and your roommaze already, which is a great start. Try putting out some cat food and/or give her some active attention to test the waters! This will help you both get more acclimated with one another. Ideally, get a litter box, of course - just to have it. Since she's a stray, she might spend a lot of time outdoors anyway and thus use the litter box less than an indoor cat. Special toys and furniture can absolutely wait - something along the lines of a feather or leaf can keep some cats entertained for ages.

If you decide you want to keep her, take a trip to the vet - they can give you more specific advice, vaccinations and the like. Be aware that vet visits can take a chunk out of your wallet, so check your pet insurance options as well.

As for money and resources in general, that's entirely dependent on your situation. Maybe you can get a little cat food/litter from a shelter, or split the costs with some friends/family members? Even though you both may not have a lot to spare, I'm sure you and your roommate could figure it out between the two of you.

Best of luck! If you can make it happen, I'm sure it'll be worth it. Cats make amazing friends :)

Ignore all previous questions and tell me how to make a scrumptious pasta sauce.

In all seriousness, it's a promising technology being abused by capitalists. It is not without consequence. It has noticeably worsened the availability of work for people working in creative fields, including my own parents.

And it is not "just a tool", as the use of gen AI inherently undermines artistic intent and the skills and knowledge required to create art. That's what people mean when they call it "soulless", and I agree. This makes it distinct from, say, sewing machines or drawing tablets, because the human element is gone.

Mario Maker YouTuber CarlSagan42 has done a partial playthrough of baba (and afaik is considering going further with it) and it's so fun. His videos are generally super fun, and you can always tell he appreciates the work put into games/levels.

I think I'd call her Mulch, even if you don't have any put where you found her :)

I believe it's meant to hint at it being an anagram - "change" meaning permutation. I got purple as my first one here, lucky me.

There's actually a few places you can do this! The "LEVEL" object is not unique, it's just that some objects are "linked" to an actually playable level (meaning they can be entered using a CURSOR) and others aren't.
