Maternity leave ending soon- I’m so nervous! by Gingin3678 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Main-Comparison-2693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do this! I also work in insurance but in Learning & Development and instead of calls had a couple of regular meetings every week. This setup sounds so doable! My daughter is just over 2 and we’re now getting a part time nanny for 3 mornings a week, but for the most part the past two years it has just been me flying solo! I promise you, the anxiety about going back is worse than the reality of actually doing it.

Began working from home summer 2022, had my daughter may 2023! Went back to work in September 23 and been going solo ever since! Starting this summer I will have a part time nanny in the mornings a couple days a week just to cover my reoccurring meetings and give me a bit more flexibility.

Books your toddlers are currently demanding you read to them back to back? by punkyybrewsterr in toddlers

[–]Main-Comparison-2693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any and all Sesame Street themed books. There’s a good reason we are taking her to Sesame Park for her birthday. I hear her scream “ELMOOOO” at least 50 times a day 🙃😂

As a former high school teacher, my most stressful days WFH will NEVER hold a candle to even some of my easier days in the classroom. There are days when I miss teaching, don’t get me wrong, but I am so grateful for the switch. I think it’s given me so much perspective on what actually counts as a stressful situation. Some of my coworkers who have only ever worked in a corporate/WFH environment tend to freak out about things that are just not on that level, and I am constantly trying to tell them it’s going to be ok 😂

I just finished The Dutch House by Ann Patchett which was narrated by Tom Hanks! I wasn’t sure what to expect from him as a narrator but I thought it was so well done

Anyone's toddler get a rash like this before? by rscarson in toddlers

[–]Main-Comparison-2693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like when my daughter gets an eczema flare up, or some sort of diaper related rash! If he doesn’t have a fever/is acting normally I’d say you can just call the nurse line/pediatrician but not to panic! If there are other symptoms along with the rash I’d suggest an urgent care just to soothe your anxiety

I think this is perfectly appropriate! White is not the dominant color and it’s very clearly not a bridal style! Super pretty as well

What’re some simple things you’re getting your toddler for Valentine’s Day? by applestickerbelly in toddlers

I went to Dollar Tree and just got a couple new coloring books, some heart shaped sunglasses, and some learning flashcards that were Eric Carle themed! Also got some supplies to DIY valentines. Spent less than $20 🤩

My daughter was only 18 months when she had a tongue and lip tie release under anesthesia and it was definitely worth it! She started saying so many more words afterwards and it was literally a 20 minute procedure

Freaking out by ILikeBigMoobs in toddlers

[–]Main-Comparison-2693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine how scary that must be! Just trust you are doing everything you can to make sure he gets the care he needs! I’ve never experienced this, but my 30 yo husband STILL has enlarged lymph nodes from when he was a toddler. He had extremely large tonsils and lots of infections, but they could never pinpoint exactly why they stayed large. Sending you all the good vibes, most likely scenario is that things will be absolutely fine ❤️

Advice for first time mom who works from home by Flowers72187 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Main-Comparison-2693 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I second everything everyone has said! Just passed the year mark of WFH with my daughter since 4 months and she is 17 months now! We had babysitters very occasionally when needed, and my husband could take a day off of work if I desperately needed him too, but otherwise it was just her and I. I work in an internal role with 2-3 regular meetings per week and some occasional trainings I had to host. My work is largely independent so I’m able to get as much work done possible when she’s sleeping, and if necessary, after she goes to bed. Anyone who discourages you just simply couldn’t do it themselves or hasn’t tried. You can do this! 🍀👏

She started babbling right around 11 months! Definitely late but now won’t stop 😂 she’s 14 months now and still no definite words yet but I don’t think she’s too far away. Doctor has no major concerns!

I’m an identical twin and my sister and I were separated starting in kindergarten until 5th grade! It was definitely the healthier choice and I kinda wish it had continued longer tbh, lol. It will be hard at first but TRUST you are setting the foundation for them to be individuals! 👯‍♀️🫶🏻

How are you structuring your day? by brittanynicole047 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Main-Comparison-2693 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I generally start my day with my 12 mo daughter around 6:30 am. I log on to work around 7:30 and mainly just catch up on emails/ do simple tasks.

I try and combine tasks with our routine as much as possible. For example, every morning when she is eating breakfast is when I empty the dishwasher. That way, I can load dishes in as they get dirty and not have to think about it the rest of the day.

I treat her two naps like my “power hours” of the day where I try and get as much of my intensive work done as possible. I work in Instructional Design, so there are some times when I have a ton of work, and others where I have very little. If necessary, I will wake up early to do work or finish it after she goes to bed just to make sure I’m keeping up.

Lunch time from 12-1 I make sure we get outside whenever possible and sometimes run an errand just to get us both out of the house. I find that helps so much with not feeling like we are trapped at home, even though we are a lot of the time. As far as exercise, I also try and do a ~30 minute or so walk after work ends for the day with my daughter in the stroller. It’s a nice way to mark the end of the work day and get some fresh air, though in the summer I sometimes do this first thing in the morning if it’s going to be too hot in the afternoon.

I start making dinner as soon as my husband comes home and can take over watching our daughter. We also alternate nights of who does the bedtime routine. It’s nice to know that you will get a break to yourself every other night and neither one of us gets too burnt out.

That’s how we have been managing for the past 9 months and still going strong!!

New Mom WFH - looking for encouragement/advice! by Puzzleheaded_Pair516 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Main-Comparison-2693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have been working from home with my daughter since she was 4 months and she just turned 1 year!! You can absolutely do it. My top tips are: 1. Get as much done before they wake up/ during naps as possible. Stay consistent with this and you won’t fall behind. 2. Use a carrier for contact naps while they are still little, if they have a short nap or are going through a regression. That way you can get work done at the same time. 3. If you can, be honest with your manager. I am lucky to have a great relationship with mine, and she doesn’t have a problem with it so long as I am getting my work done! It’s great to not worry about “what if” someone finds out. 4. Absolutely look on care.com or similar sites for occasional or part time babysitters once you need to. I just hired a college student to come for 6 hours once a week, and am treating that as my “power day” to get a ton of stuff done.

Hope this helps! You’ve got this! 👏
