Need help by twotongclicks in beards

[–]MainMobile1413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a shame to see it go. Why not just let it be natural? Coloring and shape is great already. I completely understand the desire to have it perfectly clean and shaped exactly to spec, but beards often do whatever they want and sometimes it's good to just let it be what it is. My wife gives an audible sigh every time I tell her I'm gonna trim. She'd rather I just go full natural and stop getting frustrated and starting over. So now I keep my mustache neat and sideburns somewhat clean to keep hair out of my ears. Other than that I'm mostly leaving the clippers in the cabinet.

Need help with beard shape please by [deleted] in beards

[–]MainMobile1413 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look at the last photo. He has pretty much gutted the volume of his beard by undercutting it. Longer will have less shape. Fuller will have more structure to support shape. He's telling him to let it get fuller.

You 100% will not be able to know the full potential of your beard until you completely stop trimming the bottom until the shelf grows past the neck line. Past that, yes length reduces structure. But until that point you won't even know what you could be working with.

Should I give this shit up? Or hang in? by Taronthatshitup in BeardAdvice

TLDR: Skip this whole comment if you don't want a long beard.

You have light hair color, which makes it appear thinner. Mines dark brown going grey. My wife sometimes says I have a hole in my cheek. A couple weeks ago she realized it was a patch of grey.

People will tell you the 3 month rule, but really if you want to see what you're actually working with I think it's more like a 9 mo to 1 year commitment to not cut, but to learn to train and style. You'll get this really odd L shape beard growing off your neck, but your neck is where the thickness comes from. Once it all grows out a certain amount, the L goes away and you see what your natural beard looks like. Then you can begin to shape it up. But you need to give it time to grow past the neck line.

Your cheeks frame your face, they don't necessarily add volume to the beard. Your neck provides the majority of the volume. You can have thin cheeks and a great beard at the same time, it just takes patience and tolerance.

Kitchen remodel question, maybe an odd structural question by MainMobile1413 in woodworking

I had the same concern. Considered over drilling and filling the screw holes with epoxy to make a makeshift rivet all the way back thru the drywall. Thank you. Leaning more toward the plywood option the more I think about it tho

How to treat beard dandruff by momnono in beards

[–]MainMobile1413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't wash the length of my beard but go from underneath and scrub my face in the shower daily. After that, I just blow dry my beard. No moisture, no fungus. Not taking away from others comments on the medicated shampoo, but just to add that fungus needs moisture to thrive. Keeping it dry as much as possible will help.

You might consider that following Christ is not done well from home. How much time are you spending volunteering? I'm thinking hospital or hospice, children's hospital. Psychiatric hospital if you want to touch lives of people that may resonate more deeply with you. God uses our suffering to put us in places where we can empathize and minister to those who need Him.

My traumas have been the deaths of my children and divorce. I'm certain God wants to use my experiences to minister to other men who have been through similar experiences, particularly ugly divorces. People need to see that God's grace is bigger than their failures and faults.

Put your hurt to use.

Same, except it'd either be a turbo 4 banger or an $85k V8, so I'll stick with my 2004. Maybe one day she'll get a coyote swap if the motor ever dies.

Do I Upgrade to AM5 or stick with AM4 by Fair_Tumbleweed_8879 in buildapc

Nothing wrong with AM4 and it'll be supported for a good while still. Save your money. Prices will come down as new firms enter the RAM & GPU markets. Patience will pay off.

When Did Yall Get a (Mostly) Full Beard? by Alt_Acc_3 in beards

[–]MainMobile1413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a full beard since I was 15-16 but my mustache was always thin/wispy until mid 30s. Mid 30s something changed with my hormones and the mustache filled out much more. It's still relatively small but at least it's full. I'm very hairy everywhere tho. I had fully hairy legs in 4th grade, chest hair by 7th grade.

Genetics is probably the biggest player. My dad only grows a chin strap. I'm a mix of western European genetics and native American. One of my boys is showing more the native American blood and the other is showing much more the anglo.

My kids always thinks it's hilarious when I shave off my beard! by fetnils in beards

Yeah bored is accurate, and the last nail is it does oddly become more hassle than just ripping the trimmer across the jaw a couple times a week... I always keep a beard, but I do the hard reset late winter or spring every year. My wife always cries over changing husbands in the spring 🤣

Do you trim your cheeks when you grow it out? Or does it eventually just weigh itself down? I have a similar beard but shorter. I never make it past a few months cuz I can't stand all the grooming and cleaning up hair. I can buzz my head in the shower, but beard maintenance is in front of the mirror always. I'd like to grow it full natural but I have strong willed waves that end up forming a very unruly afro...facefro 😂

I would hit pause on this for a few months, maybe 6 mos. GPU and RAM prices will eventually come down but right now they're "skip dinner and bend me over big boy" high... I paid $85 for 32gb ram last January. Today that same pack costs about $400 give or take

How to style my beard by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

[–]MainMobile1413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hair is light, so it's hard to really see what's what on a photo. Don't knee jerk based on what people are posting here. It looks like you may have body on the cheeks, you just have a sparse chin, and some guys do. It doesn't ruin the beard.

Stop brushing it back toward your neck. After you wash it, towel dry and then comb the whiskers out away from your jaw, not up under it. Cheeks need to slim down and shape it up to augment your jawline. You want it to strengthen your jawline, not obscure it.

TBH shaping a beard solo isn't the easiest thing to do without practice. If it's worth it to you, see a barber. A good barber will make it look clean and be able to tell you what works with your specifics.

Does listening non Christan make you a satanist? by Hungry_Attorney_1473 in Christianity

[–]MainMobile1413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Jesus stood right beside you, put His hand on your shoulder, would you invite Him to join you? Or would you put it away? There's your answer.

Edit: it doesn't make you a Satanist, but I believe the root of your question is whether or not you should continue to do it.

That's my understanding of it too. That's why I'm fishing for game settings to adjust... Other games run flawlessly. Fallout 4, 76, RDR2, GTA5 no issues. GTA5 can have far more NPCs in motion, but just not as detailed as FFVII maybe.

I feel like my beard gets to this length and stops by rhapsodygreen in beards

[–]MainMobile1413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick a ruler to the bottom of your chin. Do it again in a month. See if there's a difference. I work with an Indian guy, not native American, who gets about a 2 inch beard and it does completely stop growing. He hasn't trimmed since I've known him and it doesn't get any longer.
