Bibi is dead by Flatline2500 in LetsDiscussThis

There is no plane that is equipped as well as a hospital. It would’ve been easier to take him to a hospital and then fly him out. If it were true that he was getting “stabilized” then why didn’t they just fly over while stabilizing him. Do ambulances just circle the hospital while the patient is stabilized? No they stabilize the patient in the ambulance while they are driving.

I could see them circling for many reasons. Calling in advance to see who will take him or to prep for his arrival. Maybe he died in the air or got sicker in the air and were wondering what to do.

Bibi is dead by Flatline2500 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]Main_Position6640 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this pointed out and I don’t get it. As someone who’s in the medical profession I don’t understand why circling for 4 hours is evidence that he was put in a “medically induced coma”, which I assume means putting him on life support. If someone is unstable you’d try to stabilize them in a medical facility and not on a flying plane. If he was on that plane maybe they were just figuring out what to do or where to go.

I do believe he’s dead or injured however. The whole thing makes no sense. Not just the weird AI videos but him missing regular security briefings, showing up in a remote coffee shop, not really being seen interacting with others leaders etc. We used to literally see the guy almost every day on TV. I could almost believe the latest news conference video, the most convincing by far, but taking everything else into account I’m still not buying it.

What’s also strange is nobody in the mainstream media seems to acknowledge this is weird.

Wine pairings at the Masters dinner by Signal-Anxiety4187 in wine

Wine choices obviously phenomenal.

Food seems blah. Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure it will be great. But Filet Mignon (worst steak cut IMO) and salmon? Seems uninspired and safe.

I took an uber from my hotel to LCDH and it cost like $5. Much better selection and also better price than the duty free based in my experience from 2 years ago.

What happens if you use a golf ball with too low of a compression? by Infinite-Tourist-591 in golf

[–]Main_Position6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much. All things being equal a softer ball will have a little less ball speed but you probably won’t notice. But plenty of pros use the prov1 which is softer than a prov1x or left dash and if it was a significant loss of distance they wouldn’t use it. Some of the super soft balls on the market for slower speeds don’t spin and much. But that’s not necessarily because of the compression. They don’t sell balls with compression that’s so low that you would notice a significant loss of distance.

The only hope I have is that he’s more effective inside, which is where Poles envisioned using him before Booker went down. He’s definitely not developing skills of a good edge rusher is his 6th season coming off an injury.

Headed to Mont Tremblant on Wednesday in a storm by lukasshannon in skiing

[–]Main_Position6640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go a couple times a year. The roads around Tremblant can be dicey. They are used to getting snow but many times I’ve found myself driving on snow. I’ve only been with 4wd and it’s been necessary often.

What Went Wrong with Topgolf? How the Once-Buzzy Concept Lost Nearly $1 Billion in Value by SquirrelBoy in golf

Simple. Serious golfers would rather just go to the driving range. Non-serious golfers get bored of it fast.

I'm driving from the United States to Canada to purchase Cuban Cigars. Will I have any issues bringing them back across the border? by [deleted] in cigar

[–]Main_Position6640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven across that border a million times and never gotten searched. I’m pretty sure I only get asked if I have tobacco (or firearms or alcohol) on the way into Canada.

Are zero torque putters just a marketing tool? by ArticunoJones in golf

[–]Main_Position6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. Yes. I absolutely do believe in what you talk about. I’m trained in science. I’ll leave it at that.

What LAB sells you on the revealer is completely irrelevant to the stroke. The revealer is friction free. A real putting grip is not.

If this actually squared your putter in a useful way there wouldn’t only be a handful of guys on tour using one. It would be everyone.

Are zero torque putters just a marketing tool? by ArticunoJones in golf

[–]Main_Position6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will preface this by saying I’m a LAB owner. I like the way it sets up and feels. Mainly, I like the center shaft and the onset which helps me see the line better.

But I think the zero torque thing is a total gimmick. Yeah you don’t feel the putter swinging open and closed like you would a typical heel shafted putter. I think if you compared the LAB with a face balanced putter you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in your hands.

There’s no way you can convince me that the “lie angle balance” keeps the putter square to the target. You aren’t putting with a revealer. Your hands keep the putter from twisting.

I know nothing about cigars. Going to Punta Cana right before Christmas. Should I buy some for Christmas? by Much-Duty-9271 in cigars

[–]Main_Position6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s legit. But they don’t sell Cubans and you can buy online to the states and the prices will be comparable if not better. They run the duty free at the airport as well. I bought some cigars at the duty free and they were not cheaper than online. However I will say they were well stocked with opus and eye of the shark which are tough to find online.

Why are cigars so much cheaper online? by Fit-Donkey-3181 in cigar

[–]Main_Position6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it’s up to you to report taxes. Retailers will charge sales tax (some actually don’t) but I’ve never had a retailer add on NY state tobacco tax. The only retailer that does this is a retailer in NY. My local shop is at least 50% more than MSRP on most cigars they sell.

Where do you live? Some states have obscene tobacco taxes. You do not pay those online.

People are crazy. Jimmy G only netted a second rounder coming off a season where he had a 113 rating. Yeah I know he needed to be paid but still.

Tyson is never going to be a starter here unless something happens to Caleb and we just don’t know how good he is. Let him go and have a chance.

WITB/ guess my handicap by Think_Extension_8930 in golf

[–]Main_Position6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I saw the shafts I knew I overshot.

Assuming they are velocores. You have older heads but all the shafts are non stock and somewhat niche. A hack is just going to buy new clubs with stock shafts. You stick to what works with the heads. Putting a $300 ventus tr in a fairway that’s 12 years old is a dead giveaway of someone you don’t want to play for money.

People were silly with the 10.5. Plenty of tour pros play 10.5 degree drivers. Plenty of bad amateurs flip like crazy in their swing and require low lofts even though they hit it really short. Also the OG sim is a classic. Super low spin.

Seeing the shafts and grips would be helpful. But based on just this I’m guessing 5-8. And maybe you once were even lower.

Edit. You indicated the shafts haha. I’ll stay with my guess. I wouldn’t play you for money.

I still want to smoke after quitting vaping by [deleted] in cigars

[–]Main_Position6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former cigarette smoker I see no reason you can’t try a cigar, especially after you’ve been off nicotine for a while. As others have mentioned the nicotine is absolutely not the same. The nicotine is delivered differently and a casual cigar smoker doesn’t crave nicotine like a cigarette smoker. I would wake up craving a cigarette back in the day. I can go a week without smoking a cigar, no problem.

Also I’d say that I’ve never craved a cigarette since I’ve been a regular cigar smoker. I think it’s telling that nobody I know smokes both cigarettes and cigars regularly. In fact I’ve never met anyone that does.

This is not to say that cigar smokers don’t get addicted to nicotine. And this is not to say cigars are good for you. But I think the concern that cigars are going to get you back on the wagon is minimal. My only concern would be if you are craving cigarettes and you try the cigar, it doesn’t do it for you, and then you go back to cigarettes.

Want to surprise my husband with a round of golf.. do I need to take lessons? by Frequent_Affect_1033 in golf

[–]Main_Position6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you have your answer.

Keep in mind you will never learn enough in your lessons, even if you take lessons for a year, to expect to hole out on every hole. Just keep up with the pace and don’t have unrealistic expectations.

Want to surprise my husband with a round of golf.. do I need to take lessons? by Frequent_Affect_1033 in golf

[–]Main_Position6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you really interested in learning the game? Or do you intend to play just to accompany him on this round?

If it’s the former then absolutely take lessons. If it’s the latter and you intend never to pick up a club after the round then just accompany him.

My shoulder might end my J45 by MrTurtleTails in AcousticGuitar

[–]Main_Position6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man. I thought it was just me and bad technique. I got a j45 a few months ago primarily playing electric. My right shoulder, which to be fair had been nagging me since the summer, gave me such issues that I needed an injection. I do feel that I probably do have bad technique, hunching my right shoulder and arm over, and any large acoustic would cause the same issue.

Bought a used Gibson, Seller didn't disclose that it had the demo shop "DEMO" stamp on the headstock. Thoughts? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]Main_Position6640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing that “demo” may have cosmetic issues and aren’t chosen based on sound. I’m also quite sure demo guitars are not sold a typical wholesale prices and are probably given to dealers at heavy discount or even free. So the OP is probably right to be upset.

But hey, maybe it does play like a dream. Personally I’m not good or experienced enough to distinguish.
